So my fridge smelled pretty nasty a few days ago before I scrubbed it out, I tossed an air freshener in there and now some of the meat smells like the air freshener even though the meat was enclosed in ziploc bags.

Is it safe to still eat the shit that smells like the freshener or should I chuck it all out?

There is a house downtime (roughly same quality of neighborhood as my apartment) that is for sale for $33,600, taxes + mortgage would be like $275/month and it has around 900 sq ft and a small yard. But it's obviously not something for long-term living if I end up having a family in the next few years. Should I buy it so I can save up more money before buying a "real" house, or skip buying it entirely and save up slower in my current apartment?

Rarely (never) venture out of the FFXI forums, hope this is the right place, if it's not then nuke it, move it, whatever. But jesus fucking christ help me too.

Long story short, started seeing this girl, she's fantastic etc etc, great, best connection in years blah blah etc etc. Thing is, I keep getting blindsided by some kinda fucked up shit. Shit I've never had to remotely deal with before, and it's all so been so fast that I can only describe my mental state through meme:

Basically I'm just looking for either anyone who's had any experience with any of this before, or who might have any advice about how to deal with it anyway.
So the blindsides, in chronological order (obviously came after I'd been with her for a bit)

1) I'm terminal with Leukemia. (WTF)
2) I don't like my dad, he beat me as a child. He stabbed me once with a penknife (Kinda big deal with the whole leukemia-no-white-blood-cells-no-clotting shit)
3) Had a bad reaction to chemo, been in/out ICU for last few days, need lung transplant (40% chance of match) otherwise wont live over 2 months.
4) (Upon visiting her after 2 wks in hospital) Best friend gets hit by a car, dies in ICU the next day.

I mean I got to terms with the first (tho it fucked me up for a while), but mainly I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with the last one. I mean my mate got hit by a truck last october and died, but I hadn't spoken to her in a few years (no ill past, just circumstances) and while I'm dealing with it, it's not the same as your best mate getting run down. Whats the best way to support someone through that, or isn't there one? I told her I'm here if she needs anything but otherwise I'ma give her space... but apart from that I feel fucking useless...

Next time, buy a box of baking soda and stick it in the door of your fridge XD it works much the same as air freshener without the uh... "febreeze flavor"

EDIT: As for the actual safeness of the meat, i'm sure it's fine. Check on the back of the air freshener and see if it is harmful to dogs or other animals, if it is, I would not eat it...

I wouldn't eat said meat even if it was safe. The smell isn't likely to go away with cooking, and since your sense of smell and taste are connected...yeah, i dont think you want to find out what fabreeze tastes like, especially since a lot of chemicals have bittering agents added to them to prevent kids from mistaking it for something tasty.

I would write that meat off as good as gone, because its either not safe for consumption and might injure you, and even if it didnt, will not taste good at all anyways.

Well first of all are you sure she's not just a compulsory liar who enjoys making up crazy shit about herself to shock others? I've had friends like this who were otherwise normal people but tried their best to fabricate all these amazingly negative things about their lives. It's normally pretty juvenile anytime someone does this though so I imagine it wouldn't be hard to figure out if it's real or not.

Of course, if there's obvious evidence she isn't lying...well, it's a sick thing to joke about at any rate. I imagine, more than yours, her own mental state might be compromised if everything she says is true.

I've dated some girls who were hit with some major doozies while we were together. One had a best friend shot and killed during a mugging gone wrong (which they were present for) and was blamed by the parents for their daughter's death, another was raped by a family friend. In both cases I just gave them space and made myself available at any hour if they wanted anything. It worked out well enough. I feel like the latter could have been handled better, though.

That sounds like a pretty tough case for a fairly new relationship, all things considered. If you're not that emotionally invested in it yet, you may just want to think about what's best for you before diving headlong into all that baggage.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, if I'm feeling a bit fucked up in the head, how the hell must she be feeling... then again she's had 10~11 years to learn to deal with the whole dying thing. I guess all I can do is just as I thought, and you said GG, give them space but let them know I'm here if they need anything.
And truth be told I had been thinking recently that maybe it's time to duck out before it gets heavy, but idk. I've come to terms with the whole dying thing in one of those "better to have loved and lost" ways anyway, so it would just be kind of going "your friend died, that sucks, dont wanna see you no more".

I wouldn't say I was terrible looking in Grade school/High school, but I wasn't walking to my locker with a trail of swoon. I've got a lot better looking as I've got older and such a statement would be much more accurate, so whenever I see people from HS they usually double take and approach with a wtf 'x' is that you holy shit. Especially funny when it's the girls who do it if for no other reason than making my dick big.

I ran into someone at a bar a few years ago with whom I went to grade school, and I didn't recognize her at first. I was the only person from my grade school class who went to my high school so I never kept in touch with any of them. No big loss, those people terrorized me in grade school so I had no desire to put up with that shit for four more years in high school. I didn't really feel all that bad for not recognizing her, and it was pretty awesome to be all like, "Who? Oh, yeah I guess that name does sound familiar," (lying through my teeth) after she and everyone else in that school made my life a living hell.

Now I live 1000+ miles away from all that, so if I run into someone I know, I can totally feign ignorance.

The "insert" key will toggle on/off the overtype function on many computer applications. What, if any, situation would overtype ever be considered useful? Everytime I accidentally manage to activate it, it's a fucking nuisance and not at all useful for anything. Would anyone care to enlighten me as to the usefulness of this shit?
