My husband's friend/coworker had to go on emergency leave back to the states because his grandma died. The guy called my husband asking if we could watch their dog for 30 days. He was desperate, said nobody else could take him, and him & his wife were leaving the next day. My husband said okay.
This fucking dog.
He has pissed and shit all over my house. Pissed on my carpet three times, He had a bloody stool in the living room that stained the floor. He pissed on our bedroom floor - stained. I use an antique army trunk as my coffee table, he pissed on it twice - it is now stained and smells like piss. This dog is 5 years old, and supposedly potty trained. He barks at every god damn noise, woken us up on multiple occasions in the middle of the night. We lock him in his kennel when we're not home and at night. He has been an absolute terror.
My question is.. should I ask them to pay for a new carpet - and if so, how do I ask? I wouldn't consider them close friends, my husband works with the guy. They are a lot younger than us. I wrote the wife a message on facebook saying "Hey one of his stools was bloody, he's not acting different but if anything changes i'll let you know and we can figure out how to get him to the vet, but he stained this this and this.." She only replied saying she was sorry he was giving me so much trouble. We live on base housing and they are pretty anal about any stains on the floor, and I think we're going to be fucked once we try to move. The army trunk I have can't be replaced, so I feel like asking for them to pay for my $120 carpet isn't that big of a deal, but under the circumstances.. I'd feel like an ass.
I'm aware we could've done things differently to prevent some of this from happening.
