I've driven quite a few beater cars and the gas gauges error by a substantial amount in either direction. It looks like you're about to find out how accurate your own gas gauge is!

I've driven as much as 50 miles on E, though I of course didn't exactly do it by intention and 99% of the time I fill up at/before hitting that point.
But my car also typically gets about 30MPG, so I guess that makes sense.
Constantly keeping the tank near empty still mess up the fuel pump or is that only with older cars?
Depends on how you mean. If for sludge/etc, then no. Fuel pumps are typically inside the tank and pull in gas from the bottom anyway, so you're not getting "cleaner" gas by keeping things full (and they're heavily filtered besides). But, typically, the fuel pump does rely on gas in the tank to keep it cool/lubricated, so running on fumes can mean the pump running hot and suffering increased wear for that reason.
This is generally not a habit. Like I said, unexpected expenses. Lol. I made it to work though.
Get a bike when you have some extra cash.
I have one, it doesn't have any air in the tires lol. I am going to take it tomorrow to get air once I fill up the truck, that's for sure.
I made it home, so crisis averted.
Steel cable running from my lawnmower engine up to the killswitch handle on the pushbar slid out of the sheathe. The killswitch now won't revert back to the neutral position when I let it go, there's a ton of slack. Engine won't run as a result. Am I looking at a fairly easy repair or is my lawnmower fucked?
I had something similar with my snow blower once. In the end, the steel cable had just caught and all I needed to do was put it back on the track it rested on.
Mine was a bit of the opposite though. My snow blower wouldn't stop moving, but it sounds like it the same or similar problem.
Do you know what kind of make or model your lawnmower is?
Briggs and Stratton I think. I'm going to take a more in depth look at it tomorrow when it's light out. Speaking of snow blowers I also need to work on that. Ran over a sock last year and it hasn't started since.
Hmm. Hopefully your snowblower is designed better than my mom's woodchipper- that thing had the chipping blade attached directly to the drive shaft. If it swallowed something it didn't like, you sheared the drive shaft.
With the cable thing, it's basically the same as a bike's brake cable. It's probably just jammed somewhere, and if you can get it back in place it should be fine. If not, it's not going to be a terribly expensive fix.
I'm not an expert on small engines or anything, though, so i could be wrong.
Is there an official term for the horrid squicky feeling from (doing or just thinking about) biting cotton, grinding teeth, scraping against ceramic, etc?
grating sensation is the closest i can think of. i get it from that squeaking noise styrofoam makes when you scrape it with a spoon or something.
Looking for some reading material on economics. More specifically about how stock markets have changed economies. Nothing too advanced with math and shits.
Finger nail files always give me that feeling!
Cringe?
1: to draw in or contract one's muscles involuntarily
For me it's when fingernails scrape paper, the feel of that is the worst ever.
the scraping of ice and the chewing sounds of ice.....
I get the most extreme goosebumps when I hear shit like this, hell even thinking about the sounds is giving me goosebumps -.-
Worst is the old fork scratching on a plate though, I want to bludgeon the bastards that make this sound.
I can't think of a decent word to describe the feeling though, best I can think of is spine-chilling (which is more for scary things) or a kind of apprehensive feeling mixed with revulsion.. idk lol
I need to do a 2 page term paper on pulmonary embolisms for my EMT class.
What are some good medical research websites? I guess not necessarily actual R+D type research, but more of reference sites...
