Being from the east coast, I'm not sure how this works exactly. On the west coast, how far away can you feel a moderate earthquake, say a 5.1?

So I like to go out a lot, but hate what it does to my already bulging stomach. Thats another problem entirely, but when im out and dont wanna drink water, whats the better drink: soda or beer? Im sure theres extremes in either direction but generally what will make me fatter slower?

Probably soda, since if you get drunk you're gonna get hungry but care less about what you eat.

I drink Sunny D these days, though. Tastes good, good for you, and most importantly for me, lower sugar than most stuff.

If you're worried purely about calories, beer has less than soda. But I've found it easier to drink a lot of beer than a lot of soda, so it really depends on how good your restraint is.

Speaking of soda, I just quit Sunday after a very lengthy two-a-day habit. (I'd previously cut back from about six a day to two, about four years ago.) How long can I expect the withdrawal symptoms to last? I haven't been this tired in forever, I feel like I got run over by a truck. My head hurts, my muscles are sore, and I spent almost all of my day off yesterday asleep. When will this end?

That sucks, have you tried tea? Tea is great. It's good for you (better than coffee and definitely better than soda) and most varieties still have the caffiene. If you can handle drinking tea without sugar go for it, but if you need the sweets just put honey in it. Honey is good for you too

If you're quitting soda for the caffiene content instead of all the other bad stuff though idk what you can do about that. Caffiene withdrawl from not drinking soda usually only lasts like 2 days for me if that, usually just gives me a mild headache and makes me tired.

It is for the sake of cutting out caffeine amongst all of the other bad stuff, so I'm not trying to replace one caffeine product with another. It's been four days and I feel like crap, I guess I was pretty severely addicted to caffeine. It sucks.

Oh yeah then, well maybe try herbal tea, stuff's good for you and might help with the symptoms caused by the withdrawl

When I went from a 2liter bottle every day and a half down to maybe a can a day, the headaches lasts just over a week. Ymmv.

Try weaning yourself off of it with black tea, or just stay in bed for a day or two until the withdrawal headaches stop.

Caffeine's not really that unhealthy, though, except for people with certain medical issues.

Requesting help with replacing a coffee maker.

I own a quick-brewing coffee machine that has a reusable filter with a small carafe. I love it but it's dying, so I'm looking for something similar upwards of $80. I know jackshit about coffee quality or brewing in general, but I love my sludge. The option of making a latte would also be nice. I found three or four candidates but their Amazon reviews put me off, so I'm at a loss.

To give an idea of what I'm looking for:
    $80~ budget.
    Quick-brewing
    Low maintenance/easy to clean.
Pot size doesn't matter. I'm the sole coffee drinker in the house.
I prefer cheap store-bought containers over special expensive packets. (Often get maxwell house)
Reusable filter (If this effects quality let me know!)
Hybrid latte maker? An old friend had something like it. Poured the milk in the top, after it brewed it would forth the milk and mix it in. All the machines I looked at in this price range had problems from lacking a frother or steam pitcher(?) to malfunctioning steam seals.

If I'm "doing something wrong" or can improve my cheapass brewing habits let me know.

One-cup keurig machine. It's fast. Oh, I don't remember if the one-cups can do regular coffee, but if so, it would at least give you the option of using both special packets and regular coffee. Only downside to those is you have to keep them clean or they'll jam up. Well, those are the only coffee machines my family has used in a while so that's all I can think of.

If you drink just regular coffee and drink it all the time, I would not recommend the Keurig. I have a Keurig in my office, but I rarely drink coffee, so a full pot would go to waste. I like it for the flexability, I keep hot chocolate, hot cider, wide variety of flavored coffees, and also use it as just a hot water dispenser for tea. It also lets me offer that variety to sales reps or others who drop by.
