Jay, we should just kill Lao and get the stuff you need. See if we can get the guys to help out, although I've soloed the beast.

('-')/ Me, for I am Samurai of Legend (not that Rekenshi dude).

Its weak spot are the chest & wings (slash):

I attack from the front (depending on the move) just keep an eye for the tail whip. If you wanna be safe, attack its legs from the back but position yourself on the side that the tail whip won't hit you. Once it falls go for the wings. Try not to use sonic bombs because it will get raged instantly. What you can do, however, is attack and predict when it's about to go berserk then use sonic bombs.

Veggie elder ticket silver can also be traded for Monoblos hearts iirc. There's also a better chance to get them from the Monoblos fight in the cat's quests.

Fully utilizing that monodevil set means basically never getting hit... most people get a bunch of cats that give the felyne skill similar to adrenaline, and then bomb themselves down to the point where they are almost dead in the camp. It's pretty ballsy but if you can pull it off you can cut down wyverns in no time. I'm not sure how it would work with the demonic protection though, if it procs on the bombs you could accidentally kill yourself lol.

Honestly though, monodevil wouldn't take you very far into g rank, I'd shoot for something easy to make and defensive like tigrex S around HR5, then use that to get to HR8 where you can start working on endgame weapons and armor. Neither dark akantor nor white fatalis armor are worth the effort of farming anymore, as both just pretty much suck now.

I'm still rolling with Ceanataur S set + Dark Metal Boots, on G* now. Aside from a few ridiculously strong moves it's holding up just fine. Sitting on 399 def unbuffed (Armour charm and talon). 439 if I'm using my current GS.

This is used by many archers and the skill is "Felyne Heroics." It only kicks in at 10% or below health. Also, you can get rid of demonic protection by gemming a few protection jewels.

This question probably belongs in Tech, but here it is anyway:

MHFU claims it can hook up to a Dolby Pro Logic II. I'm wondering if it's even worth trying to do and what steps it requires to do so.

Basically I just wanna hear some high definition skull crushing :3

Well I was under the impression that Jaybar was making the blademaster set, and is adding artisan, thus cannot remove the demonic protection. Also, archery would pretty much need all that to even touch heavy bowgun damage lol. Now imagine heroics/adrenaline on a charge 3 raw GS strike or even standing back safely plinking things with ultimate lao cannon....

Pro logic headphones. As far as I know, you just plug them in.

Yes, for the Blademaster. I can't get rid of Demonic Protection without a 3 slotted weapon with Protection+3 jewel and +1. Actually, I think that fucks up my Adrenaline, too.

And it is just headphones, eh? For some reason I was thinking 5.1 surround. I don't know why. And I don't know how that would work.

Godamn BG time'd out and messed up my post.

For blade master is suicidal unless you're using a GS and fighting slow moving mobs with huge openings. Fatalis is slow and if you charge your GS you're safeish to attack its head. Tigrex, well it does have openings the problem is that if the hit doesn't stagger it chances are you'll get hit, which spells instant death.

As far as the sound goes, you can hook it up to any system that supports it. You can use composite, s-video, component (all with L & R), or an optical cable. Honestly the sound with the headsets ain't that bad, I can pick up birds chirping, the stock falcon sound, etc.

Find the weapon you are most comfortable using. Longswords are great for beginners or for those not used to the slow moving weapons like Greatswords and Hammers. The only downside to Longswords is their lack of defense, but they make up for that with a faster running speed (while unsheathed) and quick attacks that can end with a roll to the side quickly.

Bows are great, too. They let you keep a safe distance away from your enemy while giving you easy-to-use aiming and high agility. You can basically circle your enemy and fire arrows at them from the side all day without getting hit. The downside to these weapons is their incredibly lackluster damage.

Also try to take advantage of some good armors. Early in the game I know Battle Armor set helped me out quite a bit until I was able to get Ceanataur Armor. Utilizing the internetz also helped me find items I wasn't sure how to obtain as well (I had no idea I could get Thunderbug Juice so early on - a key ingredient for Devil Slicer).

The Minegarde Forums and Gamefaqs have some good information and FAQs that you can look at as well.
Thanks, i looked over the gamefaqs a load but most of it went over my head the first 2 or 3 times, however this time its starting to sink in. Just did the Rank1 elder quests easy as hell, and this time really had no trouble with Giadrome this time around; before he kinda raped me. I'm using longsword this time around and it definately is pretty easy to use. I think the game is just a bit overwhelming at the start, with felyne chefs/helpers/items to gather/combining/crafting and upgrading...

But yeah thanks for the tips!

Advice taken, thanks Cyn and Meteora.

Just tried solo'in the Lao-Shen and omg was that epic. I didn't even die to the tail this time! Fucked up because I never was able to land on his back (I think I got it this time) and couldn't lay off the Anti-Drg Bombs. Also didn't use the cannonball until it was too late. With the ballista shots, do I aim for his back or stomach?

Lao Shan Lung has an obscene amount of HP, sadly the DS won't be enough to pull it off. Here's the strat:

Before he walks in: take all the ballista you can find and the anti dragon bombs.

Take bombs+ and place em next to the barrier; as soon as his head reaches them trigger the explosion. Use this tactic for all the entrances, except the last. Take power and armour seeds, then slash the belly. Once he reaches area 3, continue w/ the same tactic but this time run up the bridge as soon as you see the ladder and jump on his back. Carve and plant the bombs.

Once it reaches the main fort, shoot the ballista as soon as you see the shadow (you can also guess his position if you want). Then quickly run to him and continue your assault.

I did all that and killed with the Divine Slasher, I failed with the DS. If you have a sword with Dragon Attribute it will help you loads~

I need some Elder Dragon Blood to get a Dragon Element LS. I was using the Anvil Hammer since it has anti-wind and seemed pretty powerful. My DS was bouncing a lot when he moved and I didn't hit his belly.

I was using Lg. Bomb + at the entrance (two at his head). The ballista shot doesn't seem to reach that far, btw. I loaded the cannon as soon as I saw the shadow of his head and got a direct hit, though.

Just take a bowgun with plenty of ammo options and an inventory full of ammo and items to make more. just keep blasting him with clusters, pierce shot, dragon shot, etc and plant a few bombs.

He also has a couple breakable parts that can increase your reward and are out of reach from melee weapons.

Certainly is entirely possible to do with a melee weapon, especially heavy hitters like GS or hammer, but I would avoid using a bow, you'll be out of power coatings very quickly and will be doing very little damage. SnS would not do well, but dragon damage duals with quake res and some mega juice would work.

If it looks like he's not going to reach the fort before time runs out, let up on him and let him just walk. He can't die until he's in the final area. Also, make sure he's entirely into that area before landing the killing blow, because he can fall with 6 of the carves past the rock barrier.

And a GS charge 3 with adrenaline and art of unsheathing would always stagger tigrex on a head hit (unless it's an amazingly shitty GS).

After slaughtering a bunch of Tigrexes and Red Khezus, I managed to get the items to upgrade my TDS. It turns out there's another advanced form which I'd assume is the True Hollowing Devil (better name than that bs one).

The items aren't hard to get since Rajang and Kirin drop them ;o

Wailing Cleaver Shin is nice, I've slaughtered a ton of Silver Rathalos with it. For some reason I prefer Imperial Thundersword for Rathian though. Assuming I'm not on hammer or paralyze duty.

Also, changing True Howling Devil to Wailing Cleaver Shin is not nearly as bad as changing Volganos to Lavasioth lol.
