Just use the sniper rifle to pick off all the incoming soldiers on the second wave, then use the mounted gun to kill the heavies quickly. If the heavies are already too close, just get up and personal with them. All it takes is a few shots to the head, then unload the rest of your ammo clip on the pack on their back. They are really easy and don't seem to do a ton of damage, at least on normal. I imagine it would be much more difficult to kill them with a sniper rifle anyway.

On a side note, the Sony Official Bluetooth Headset is fucking awesome. From what I understood, it uses 2 microphones to output high quality sound. I own it, from the Socom pack, and I'm VERY happy with it.

Edit: About the bullet boxes...I think you actually need to have technicians build those for you...not 100% sure though, because I didn't see bullet boxes on some of the maps.

Edit2: I think the dual mic quality only works with PS3 games that support the function.

I'll pick it up anyway, hopefully it's just something I'll get used to.
Get it. You'll get used to it. You won't regret it.

Yeah, the ammo crates and broken mounted guns can only be fixed by the Engineer with their 2nd ability.

Ended up doing this right after I posted since I didn't realize there were mounted turrets on each side lulz. But that's just the beauty of it I guess, there's so much going on that I never really took the time to look around.

After reading all the good things you guys are saying about it I really want to pick it up myself, but the demo was such a huge turn off.
From what I've read on the Killzone 2 forums (from people who hated the controls as much as I did, but believed the devs' lies that it was a demo-specific issue), the game controls exactly like it did in the demo.

Isn't Killzone 2's multiplayer just a clone of TF2 with different graphic? I looked at several trailers and they have much most of classes from TF2 from Spy to Engi to Soldier and Demoman.

(this is just my understanding of it, anyone who has the game, feel free to correct me)

Kind of, except you only start with one class and have to unlock the rest. And even then, you have to keep playing each class to unlock all of their abilities. And once you're played a class enough, you can use one of its abilities on another class.

I'm also assuming weapons aren't tied to class, like you could be a sniping medic or a shotgunning spy.

Weapons are tied to classes, like only the Engineer gets the shotgun and the class with no abilities.

Doesn't help that the only other FPS I've played lately is TF2 which is one of the faster modern FPS's and a little bit of Left 4 Dead. I guess I'll see about picking it up, not much else coming out this year anyway so seems pointless to miss this.
Weltalll also seemed to hate the controls at first, played for a bit now it looks like he's addicted.
I would say rent the game if you can, play for a while, and if you still don't like it well then you've saved yourself some money.

No problem with that here. Sabotuer(spy) doesn't have cloak I don't think but it's effective on assassination mode.

Renting's not an option, gonna order it tomorrow anyway I think, I'm sure I'll adjust fine, still think it was a terrible design decision though, you can make it a slower, more tactical oriented game without making the character turn like a brick.

I still have to sometimes think about what I am pressing; the game isn't nearly as fluid in controls as say, Halo, which feels pretty much like another part of my body when controlling it.

The problem is the placement of the analog stick on the ps3 controller.

Shotgun is good but got it's annoying to get shot in the back by one. I haven't played through the story much but sniping uses the sixaxis right?

Not exactly, the Sixaxis is used to keep your aim steady, you control the corsshairs with the R3 button like any other gun, you keep the controller still and everything stays still.
Think of it like MGS when you're using a rifle without the pills, you can't get a good shot.

Ah that's good so I shouldn't have any problems being a nuisance once I have the scout badge unlocked.

The sluggish controls are giving me a headache, only been playing about an hour but it just seems a little /too/ sluggish for real life. But I just read a few posts up about moving around the controller messes up the aim and I didn't realize that. Hopefully once I adjust I will have more fun, but overall the controls are a major distraction from the actual game

I've adjusted to the Standard 1 setting. I am fucking raping people; I think I have came in 1st / 2nd in the last 11-12 games I have played. Is there anything to achieve after the 3 star ranking? Because I am almost there and that would suck if not...

Edit - The sensitivity I use is maxed X,Y -1. I found this to be the best overall sensitivity.

    I still have to sometimes think about what I am pressing;
This. I picked the game up yesterday and had to wait til today after work (12 hour shift) to play... was almost bursting at the seems. Played online a bit and got stomped (really wish you could customize controls... been playing resistance 2, so even though I tweaked to Alternate 2 to fit my tastes a bit better, I still found myself crouching when I wanted to run.. etc).

Aim is annoying. I hate anything with aim acceleration; console FPS, mouse on PC, anything. Its slow at first, then whizzes by- makes aiming impossible. If I crank up the sensitivity to where I can get to my target before the accel kicks in, turning more than 90' is impossible without getting lost. And if I turn it down so that doesnt happen, its nearly impossible to aim at anything before the acceleration kicks in and throws me off. I spent a good 5 mins or so just trying to aim up-left and back down-right on two marks on a wall trying to get used to it.. and just couldn't. Swapped to singleplayer a bit, and ended up getting frustrated and turning it off.

Will try again tomorrow, just pretty frustrating.
