"Dynamis - Tavnazia" : Taurus farming routes

Currently my linkshell does one Tavnazia run a month. We've gotten very comfortable with the general strategy of the zone, and aim for spending the majority of our time in zone farming the Nightmare Leeches with Makara sprinkled in between Leech repop if we're making good time. Unfortunately, this farming path has exactly 3 Nightmare Taurus in it. A number of us are seeking hydra gear and this 3 count just isn't cutting it, but on the other hand, because we only do 1 run a month we can't really experiment with new farming paths.

So, I'm asking for your experience and what you all have found to be efficient Taurus farming routes. Thanks in advance!

You have a couple options. Some groups get a mix of everything each run (I think this is what DynamisBums people do) where you try to hit roughly the same amount of Kindred pulls (which come with Taurus), Hydra pulls, Leech pulls and Bee/Makara pulls. If you do that you should be able to kill like 6-7 Taurus, I think.

What I do, in my former dynamis LS and now in a weekly Tav-only group is we pick a path to focus on each run. If you elect to focus on Kindred/Taurus, you only need to do 2 bee pulls and 3 hydra pulls on the 2nd floor. If you focus on Hydras or Leeches, you only need to do 2 bee pulls and 4 kindred pulls on the third floor. After killing the SJ mobs and popping that first ??? from the floor you're not focusing on, you should have about 80-90mins to farm the mobs of your choice.

For us, when we've chosen to focus on Kindred/Taurus, on our best day we cleared 11 Kindred/Taurus pulls (16 Taurus kills), and even that was with some mistakes slowing us down--no doubt without those mistakes we could have done 12 pulls (18 taurus) which is full side clear + full repops. Even on our worst days with lots of mistakes we still manage to do about 8 pulls (10 Taurus).

If people feel like you're short-changing certain mob families, maybe try focusing on certain paths each run like us instead of trying to hit a mix of everything each run.

Start on 1st floor, kill 4,5,6,9 get TE
    On to the 2nd floor
68,69,70,72,75. (71,73,74 if time permits). pop the TE at 1min mark and re-farm.

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you!

just wanted to know, has anyone ever tried sacing their way out of 1st floor farming? possibly with a thf and a blm?

Send a thf in with flee\pd, pop 4,5,9(might link 7) blm es sleeps, kill the eye. 2 deaths and 20mins saved for hydra\xarc farming

I had seriously thought about doing this...but then I realized Dynamis would be retarded and somehow everything would kill everyone.

If you do actually try it and pull it off, let me know how you did it. I'm guessing you'd have to have some pretty competent people.

You should be able to have everyone stay on the upper or lower floor just to be safe. My only real concern would be the speed of the hydras, i know the bees are less than 12%.

I saw this thread a few hours ago, and thought about it some, but didn't get a chance to do a detailed reply until now.

I can't tell if you're suggesting pull the eye out and kill it outside while someone goes to the ???, pull the other mobs out and have a BLM solo the eye by the ???, or have everyone come in, have the THF round up the mobs with a BLM sleepga, have everyone kill the eye and run out, and then pop the ???.

I don't think the 2nd or 3rd will work, so I'll assume you meant the first. The second shouldn't work because I don't think a BLM is capable of soloing the eye fast enough to then click the ??? before the THF dies and the mobs return home. The 3rd I don't see working either, for one because you'll likely have 2 eyes and a dog that resist the sleepga, and another because I don't think you'll have enough time to kill the eye and then get everyone out in time to pop the ??? before the mobs wake up.

The first one should be workable, although it may fail from time to time. In my old Dynamis LS I came up with a similar tactic for when we were running low on time, although we'd kill the bees and then skip the other eyes. I'll treat this as though you're skipping the bees, too.

Have the THF drop from PT, as well as someone designated to hit the ??? and warp (both should drop). One more person stands at the top of the of the ramp to that floor to claim the eye, everyone else down below where you fight Bugard. The Warper waits outside the tunnel, the THF pops poison pot, PD, flee (PLD w/ invincible might work, too). Warper doesn't run in yet, since sometimes when mobs spawn off a stone/eye/big nightmare they aggro the nearest person before linking to the saccer.

THF runs in, tags the time eye with steal or mug or something and runs back out. The THF needs to claim the eye so that the person pulling to the alliance knows which of the 2-3 eyes that are coming is the time eye. As the THF emerges from the tunnel, the warper runs in and stands where the ??? will pop. The THF runs out of the tunnel, past the puller (who tags the eye as it passes later and brings it down), runs up to the 3rd floor, goes about 1/3 of the way counter-clockwise from the top, and waits until the mobs have almost caught up to him, then as they reach him, proceeds counter-clockwise until he reaches the right Kindred path and--assuming that by now the eye is with the alliance in the Bugard area--stops and dies (if not, try to keep going until the eye is down there). At this point the mobs start slowly walking back to their spawn points, and you have until they reach it to kill the eye, pop the ???, and warp, which should be ample time.

The main thing that can go wrong I think, assuming the THF uses a poison pot and nobody makes any blatant mistakes, is a -ga from an eye or melee hits from popped mobs wiping his shadows as he turns back, and an eye binding him, PD wearing before he is free of the mobs and he dies. At this point you won't really be able to attempt a new sac, but you should still be able to clear your way like normal. The first set of bees should be clean, the second set should be, too, but maybe link to the first eye. If not, the first eye should be clean, and then the roaming eye + time eye spawns will probably come in one pull.

Bees and Hydra both move at normal speed. I forget if dogs move normal or faster, though. You can do a similar thing on the 3F, too, except switch camp spots and sac spots. Left Kindred path, ally camps a bit counter-clockwise of the ramp down, THF sacs to the Bugard area. In either case though, I don't see why you would want to skip a measly 6 bees and 9 hydra, unless you are seriously capped out on -1 legs and BCD AF, but again I do think it should be possible.

I was going to have the blm and thf sac, thf goes in pull mobs out, blm es sleepga2 mobs, and run upstairs with dog. Kite and bind dog and extra eye. Rest of ally clear ??? eye and thf pops ??? and warps out.

It's not so much we're capped on -legs and bcd af as much as we'd rather spend the time in the pursuit of xarc\hydra shit

I would try the way I suggested it, then. It seems less prone to error so long as the person tags the eye and brings it down below before the THF dies (and the THF should be able to stay alive as long as necessary unless some mobs go up the other side and he gets boxed in).

Tried it last night, eazy peazy. We had to clear one set of bees after because of bad worm positioning. gave us an extra 30mins or so for upper floor farming
