No, I made this topic specifically to illustrate the point that you and yours trying to say "WELL OMG MSNBC LIBREL MEDIA GARBAGE SAME SHIT" is a bunch of crap.

This is one example of many that puts FOX in a category lower and far more extreme than any "liberal" media outlet.

So because one person on Fox news has an extreme point of view (that a study backed up?) that has nothing to do with political bias, the rest of the media is not liberally biased?

    Keith Olbermann trumps all...

his bias is as crazy as it gets. Him and Matthews got so bad they pulled them off of front and center election coverage.

    Bias goes both sides.

This is a thread about liberals vs conservatives again, isn't it?

I don't think so, but I'm sure Beck will explain.

Luckily, since I'm neither a Republican nor a Democrat, I can say that both Fox News and some of MSNBC's coverage are disgusting.

    1. This is why Fox fails as a news station. Because at least one person that works for them actually thought that this was worthy of a six minute nationally televised discussion.

    2. The only thing that amazes me about this piece is that they went six minutes without once mentioning God (unless you count them saying Fred Rodgers was looking down at everyone from Heaven).

So suddenly FOX News speaks for the modern mainstream conservatives?

And now for a story about how Mr. Rogers is awesome:

Back when he was still making the show, Mr. Rogers would always park his fairly old car in the same parking space outside of the studio every single day. One day, Mr. Rogers car was stolen. Now of course, Mr. Rogers isn't one to make a huge ruckus, so he didn't want to make a big deal about this event, but the local news grabbed onto it and did a small story about it during one of their broadcasts. The next day, Mr. Rogers' car was right back in the same parking space it always sat in, with a note saying, "If we had known it was yours, we wouldn't have taken it."

Mr. Rogers was, and still is, the man.

More than any other source, yeah, but it's also an entire network and there is a slight variation of opinion on it.

they don't speak for the intellectual conservatives or paleocons or libertarian leaning conservatives. the huge criticism of the Republican party and predominant conservatism in America is how it's been hijacked by the religious right and egomaniac asshole talking heads on the radio and FOX. They've killed off just about any reasonable stances that conservatism could make in favor of... well, garbage.

And yes, FOX's content does speak for the mainstream of modern conservatism in America, as countless polls, ratings, and election results have shown.

But this isn't so much about conservative versus liberal, this is about FOX being terrible and how comparing them to even MSNBC, which I will not hesitate to admit as having a mainstream liberal bias, is simply not appropriate. It's not about how far they ideologically lean in this case; it's about how low and sensationalistic they will go.

FOX is a joke and I'm refuting any comparison of it to CNN or MSNBC or whatever mainstream outlet. FOX is basically DailyKOS, at best (which is sad considering kos has a bunch of reader submitted content and is not considered a major professional news outlet).

Olbermann has become an exact replica of O'Reilly, except on the other side.

Matthews is a lame hack except for 2-3 times a year when he pulls out the awesome (This year: Appeasement radio host and Bachmann)

MSNBC's news coverage (non-opinion), however, is better than Fox's.

Oh and there was no formal study linking Mr. Rogers to entitlement/narcissism/grade-begging, it was finance professor rambling about students asking for extra credit to try and earn As (that's a bad thing? wanting to do extra work to earn something greater?) and comparing them to Asian students who didn't, and he said:

"They felt so entitled," he recalls, "and it just hit me. We can blame Mr. Rogers."
Here's a WSJ article about it: Blame It on Mr. Rogers: Why Young Adults Feel So Entitled - WSJ.com

The only study mentioned was multiple studies indicating increasing narcissism among college students... I can't really see a tie between narcissism (self-love/obsession) and trying to get better grades. I also can't see much of a difference between narcissistic behavior and individualism in general. The dimwit professor is also seemingly ignorant of the Confucian cultural influenced upbringing of his Asian students (I'm assuming he's talking about foreign or first generation), which coincidentally is very collective in many aspects.

I think this entitlement thing is more of a result of No Child Left Behind, since schools now have greater incentive to pass and get kids higher grades as opposed to being true and making sure kids are at the education level they deserve and and get the grades they deserve.

I can make up bullshit justifications too! Ok, mine actually has to do with a relevant, modern problem, but it's still pretty bullshit.

This segment begins with introducing the ideas of an outspoken college professor, although it it's presented in a very light hearted way. There is a serious issue underlying the reasons for this professor's ideas, which, although it is not completely explored, they do shed some light on. They do a follow up segment later on with someone being more reasonable about Mr. Roger's affect on children and some more joking.

I don't see how any reasonable person could find a reason to complain about this. Unless you are completely incapable of reading between the lines or just take everything they say verbatim, it should be easy to see the point of that entire segment. You really do need something to lighten up the news now and then.

I think this entitlement thing started before No Child Left Behind. Bush, believe it or not, is not to blame for all of this countries issues.

There have been many cases where both MSNBC and CNN.com have been little more than mouthpieces for popular leftist causes, and despite this I don't accuse them of 'speaking for' any particular group of people. There is a significant difference between 'speaking for' and 'marketed to' and it's fucking stupid to confuse the two.
