This segment begins with introducing the ideas of an outspoken college professor, although it it's presented in a very light hearted way. There is a serious issue underlying the reasons for this professor's ideas, which, although it is not completely explored, they do shed some light on. They do a follow up segment later on with someone being more reasonable about Mr. Roger's affect on children and some more joking.

I don't see how any reasonable person could find a reason to complain about this. Unless you are completely incapable of reading between the lines or just take everything they say verbatim, it should be easy to see the point of that entire segment. You really do need something to lighten up the news now and then.

What point is there, honestly? It's the equivalent of and old man yelling at kids to get off his lawn. They linked some professor complaining about American kids asking for extra credit work to improve their grades to a generation of entitlement, not to mention tying Mr. Rogers' message of self-esteem and individuality to it, rather ironically considering conservatives like to think of themselves as staunch individualists. It's not just that I disagree with their opinions, it's that their opinions are tastelessly presented and lacking intelligent/reasonable support. If they want to talk about generational issues, they could do better than the ramblings of some unremarkable finance professor and do it without throwing Fred Rogers under the bus.

There's also the point to be made that there's llittle on FOX that constitutes serious journalism or op/ed. When everything that supposedly has a serious or legitimate point has to be presented like a joke (intentionally or sensationally)... proof, pudding, etc.

The media has always blurred the line between news and entertainment, whether it be liberal or conservative. I don't really think, and I'm sure this is true of many others, that I could sit and watch the news if this was not done on occasion. You're reading a little bit too hard into the exact words that were said, most of which were jokes, and trying to hold an entire network accountable for it.

The underlying issue that is presented in the segment is the way that parents are raising their children. I'm sure most people would agree that there have been better times in regards to this. There have been books and movies made about it, it's not just what this one university professor thinks. It actually isn't even a conservative point of view.

Either way, the media shouldn't be responsible for telling you what to think. There is no such thing as egalitarian news. While I agree that it can be so biased that it becomes irresponsible, this is not a case of that. If you really perceived this as conservative propaganda I think you're just being dense.
