I don't wish ill will on anyone who's a projected first-rounder when they leave early. I hope Andre Smith is a dominant NFL tackle and makes 12 straight Pro Bowls. What bugs me is the borderline, day two, special teams-onry type of guys who leave early. I won't begrudge anyone for getting that payday a first-rounder is guaranteed.

I dont knock Stafford for wanting that payday, I knock him for leaving with unifinished business as a college athlete that you go to a school like UGA to achieve. No division titles, no conference titles, one BCS win, and a team around him that is willing to return to accomplish said division and conference titles. Those are the reasons you pick high profile schools like Florida, USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Ohio State, etc etc to achieve over schools like USF, Arizona, Northwestern who are solid programs, but aren't the creme de la creme so to speak.

Again, I knock Stafford decision to go pro when the team he was recruited to lead has decided they have bigger things to accomplish than getting that payday. Heres to hoping Cox and Gray lead the team right, god knows they've spent their time waiting. This situation is now eerily creeping into the Green -> Shockley transition that lead us to the 2005 SEC title when the team as a whole stepped up, not just individual talents.

Well, as I said to someone about Andre Smith. Sure, you can come back, probably accomplish even more with your college teammates, but in the long run, how does that effect your life? Would you rather earn millions of dollars in a profession you love to play, or just have bragging rights about winning a Conference Championship in College Football with the chance of a National Championship at the end of it? There's so many risks to returning another year. If you go back to school, get hurt, miss games.. your stock could drop and you'd lose out on millions. If you go to the NFL, at least if you get hurt there, you've already got your guaranteed money.

I can't knock someone for wanting to go early if they are already in the top end of the first round. Now if he's a borderline first/second dayer.. then sure, I don't see why he wouldn't come back. In this case, he's battling Bradford for the first QB taken. I don't see how you can pass that up.

Just Smith so far but other than Cody I doubt anyone else will go early. I don't think Coffee has NFL speed and Arenas is a better return man than a cover corner, which isn't a compliment. The only other guy I could see leaving would be guard Mike Johnson, which would hurt the team quite a bit.

I've read that Bradford is on par with Stafford in terms of how they're graded by scouts, but I've also read he's leaning towards staying. I guess some of it depends on tomorrow night for the cross-eyed quarterback. I hope he does so another guy slots down to the Browns at 5th, all four teams above them have a need at QB except maybe the Chiefs. Andre Smith/Joe Thomas bookends?
