If I could vote in the AP I'd go

    1. Utah
    2. Florida
    3. Texas
    4. OU
    5. USC

hell I'll go to 10 just for shits and giggles

    6. Penn St
    7. Bama
    8. Ohio State
    9. TCU
    10. Georgia... grudgingly. Or maybe TT.

    I'd go

    1. USC
    2. Florida
    3. Utah
    4. Oklahoma
    5. Texas

On a neutral field I don't think Utah could beat any of the others however, assuming all things even and the other 4 teams actually played to win and didn't come out stale. I didn't think they'd beat Bama either, but shit happened before and during that game, Saben slipped early, and couldn't adjust fast enough.

I couldn't put USC below OU, Texas, or Utah. I just can't. Penn State was NOT a bad team at all, and Oregon/Cal did turn out to be pretty good, which USC beat. In hindsight, the Pac-10 wasn't as dreadful at the top as we thought they were. Outside of Washington/Washington State, which I still think should be D2 (Rofl), it wasn't as bad as I bashed it to be. That's why I'd put USC at at least 2. Texas and OU below them.. maybe Utah 5th.

    6-10 I'd probably go:
    6. Penn State
    7. TCU
    8. Alabama
    9. Ohio State
    10. UGA

And I agree. Alabama started slow, and it cost them. They aren't built to come from behind, especially down 21. They were outplayed up front, and then Utah just held on in the 2nd half.

I do think Florida deserves their #1, and it's not the SEC in me. They were just as hot as USC to end the season. USC did it with amazing defense, Florida did it with an amazing offense, and finished with an amazing defense.

I like USC for 2 reasons over Florida. I value great defense is first. That defense is fantastic. 2nd is the losses. USC loss a thursday night game on the road. Thursday nights on ESPN over the past few seasons is where good teams go to die. Florida lost at home. I honestly have no idea who would win, and I think both bowl wins were equally impressive. I can see the argument either way.

You guys are seriously understating the Bama game.

It wasn't like Utah got a fast start and then couldn't do anything... they came out, knocked the crap out of them, and then ran the clock down like a true powerhouse football team should. They dominated every phase of the game, Bama had to play their asses off to keep it respectable.

Well yeah. USC's Thursday night loss on the road to a team that finishes with 9 teams versus Florida's Saturday afternoon loss at home to a team that also finishes with 9 wins. To me, it's about even in that department. Who knew Ole Miss would be that good this year? Outside of that, Florida's schedule made them appear as a sexier #1 to me than USC's schedule.

And I'm not understating the BCS. Utah at #3-5 is good for them, I'd think. If it was based on neutral field, I just don't see how they beat any of the other 4 (Florida, USC, OU, Texas).

Utah shellshocked Bama. They came out, hit em in the mouth, and JPW was on the ground more often than not. He probably had pressure on him once every three of four snaps, and I believe sacked 8 times. I'd say something like "If Bama didn't miss 2/5ths of their strong O-Line, it wouldn't have happened" IF I 100% believed it. Utah played amazing, Bama played lathargic. That's my view on the Sugar Bowl.

fix't, and it really applies to most of the country this year, nobody outside Florida and the Big 3 was really moving the ball consistently all year

yeah yeah Miss was good against Tech, and Florida, but that's about it

You cant compare like that, TX beat OU by 10, Tech barely beat tx, OU raped Tech, just by that alone saying "if they beat this team they should beat this team" philosophy goes out.

Well even on paper i wouldnt think Texas could get past USC's D, even if Texas' Offense didnt throw up the proverbial egg like they did a few nights ago.

Edit: So I could see no reason to justify putting Texas over USC

First off, Texas put up TWENTY FOUR against an Ohio State defense that was anally reamed by USC to the tune of 38 points, and USC wasn't even clicking on all cylinders. Sure, Texas put up 45 on the same team Florida only put 24 on, but both defenses came out to play last night. Earlier in the year, just about anyone was scoring a ton of Oklahoma. Texas's offense wasn't AS explosive as some people thought, and it showed. Their lack of offensive playmakers outside of McCoy, Crosby, and Shipley really showed.

As far as your comment Plow about the rest of the SEC, lol.. you're right. Really outside of that missed extra point/failed 4th down conversion by Jes...Tebow, that's the worst Florida has looked all year. Alabama and Florida were great throughout the season though, and Bama collapsed at the end.

Though if you want to say that's your view on the SEC this year, that's fine. At least I can stick to my view of lolBig12defenses. Oklahoma and Texas's D are the only two that actually showed up this bowl season, and it's about time too. They were missing for a lot of the season.

This is the truth, but going against homers/homer picks is futile, so I just kinda teetered off at the end, realizing it was a useless effort, lol. But ty nonetheless

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Ohio State missing like 4-5 defensive starters that game? USC is a heck of a team but they didn't really play anyone all that good this year. Ohio State was missing a bunch of starters and it was a home game, and PSU just laid an enormous egg in the Rose Bowl. I really see no reason whatsoever that you could justify them over Texas and every argument for it in this thread is a reach at best. Anyway my top 5 is:

    1. Florida
    2. Utah
    3. Texas
    4. USC
    5. Oklahoma

Ohio State was missing Beanie Wells, and they were in trouble as far as who to start at QB. Pryor didn't have too many snaps against USC, while he did against Texas. I don't believe Ohio State was missing anyone from their veteran defense. Also, you can't feed that "USC didn't play anyone good this year" bullshit, lol. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't USC not only stomp Ohio State and Penn State, but also beat Arizona (bowl winner), Oregon (bowl winner), Cal (bowl winner), but lose to Oregon State? That's still a pretty good resume, even with the one loss. We all assumed the Pac-10 was utter dogshit due to their 1-6 record against the MWC, but as we saw, the MWC is actually a pretty darned good conference. Also, if you just remove Washington/WSU (as we should... fucking waste of space), I suppose the Pac-10 really isn't all that bad.

Also, I don't think PSU really laid an egg persay as much as they just shot themselves in the foot with penalties.

Either way, do you know how hard it is for me to DEFEND USC? I dislike them probably as much as I do The Ohio State University, and what not.

Texas had a fantastic season, no doubt.. but #3 is the highest I feel they deserve. The AP will probably look like:
    1. Florida
    2. USC
    3. Texas
    4. Utah
    5. Oklahoma

    1. Florida
    2. USC
    3. Texas
    4. Utah
    5. Oklahoma

    And then the AP Poll:
    1. Florida
    2. Utah
    3. USC
    4. Texas
    5. Oklahoma
