16 first place votes for Utah, impressive. I watched the NC game with three of my college football friends so I didn't get to troll this thread with you guys. Some of our observations:
- Fox has, without a doubt, the worst team of sports broadcasters ever assembled. Thom Brennaman, who I normally like as a baseball play-by-play guy, was obviously out of his element. He got the down and distance wrong several times, including the crucial goal-line stand by Florida in the second quarter. The bland color guy even went along with it, thinking it was 4th down on 3rd, and saying "you gotta go for this, get your big guys in there!" And the studio guys are just vanilla as fuck, Barry Switzer has never said anything interesting, ever. Last night actually made Jeanne Zelasko look professional.
Also, check out the last sentence under "Career" at Brennaman's lolwiki page. I would screenshot it but I'm at work right now and probably shouldn't be posting.
- Because Florida ran the table after Ole Miss, we will be hearing that Goddamned Tebow sound byte for the rest of our lives. Yes, he's probably had one of the top ten college football careers of all time, but seriously stop the love affair. He doesn't walk on water or cure AIDS with his tears, he's a fullback with an very good arm. Get over it.
- The ACC officiating crew just plain sucked. There were so many phantom flags, especially for personal fouls, and they missed the OU horsecollar (a rule I hate regardless) on the sideline in the second half. There's got to be a better crew outside the Big XII and SEC than this.
- Sam Bradford is legit, he hits every receiver right on the numbers and has plenty of zip on the ball when he needs to. He's much better than Stafford (my friend's words, chill out Kirin) and if he leaves Norman he should go to the Lions at #1. Even his pics weren't totally his fault, UF defense just played their asses off, especially in the red zone. My friends were also raving about Jermaine Gresham, and I normally don't like first-round NFL TEs but I have to admit he looks like a stud.
I'm sure I'll think of more but those were the highlights.
And my top 10:
1. Florida
2. USC
3. Utah
4. Texas
5. Alabama
6. Oklahoma
7. Penn State
8. Oregon
9. TCU
10. Ohio State
