    Your 2008 disappointments.

I was expecting the revival of Sonic franchise, but sadly Sonic Unleashed is far from the quality of Adventure 1 and 2 of Dreamcast. Terrible effort.

Another big disappointment for me is the new Need for Speed game. Earlier screenshots reminded me of Most Wanted(my favorite in NFS series) but what did we get? A 60$ junk.

Which games didn't meet your expectations this year?

Your mentioning "Sonic Unleashed" made me think of "Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity." That game makes Unleashed look like a masterpiece.

I would honestly have to say I'm a bit disappointed with Fallout 3 and Left 4 Dead. Fallout is due to the massive amount of glitches and bugs(thanks again Bethesda.) And Left 4 Dead because of the complete lack of a story, varying zombies and lack of different weapons. Also fairly disappointed by Last Remnant just due to the massive loads of lag.

Fallout 3, mainly because it was really hyped and I haven't felt the need to replay it after i've finished it.

No single player Final Fantasy again. Since 2000's Final Fantasy IX, we've seen two "new" single player FFs - 2001's FF10 and 2006's FF12. (and I'm not counting 2003's FF10-2 because it isn't really new IP). If SE can't get 13 out in the States until 2010, that will mark an entire decade with only 2 single player FFs. This is after three were release between 1997-2000.

The market for MMORPGs is just more lucrative, and the development of these is coming at the expense of the traditional FF that I know and enjoy.

It's not like the old days where you can beat out a game in a year or two. Production time and costs have risen greatly in the last few years. Unless it's a Tales of game, they make a new one every year or something...

(don't mention madden or fifa etc, they don't count as games)

    GTAIV

In a sense Brawl, but perhaps my expectations were too high.

Far Cry 2 (though visually I am completely satisfied....)

No More Heroes (well I enjoyed everything, but the game part)

    The Wii in general.

    Castle Crashers

few others that don't come to mind. Tales of Vesperia, of all things, surprised me

Fable 2. Good game but very lacking in everything they added. Not worth the $60.

LittleBigPlanet - I wasn't disappointed with this game until I realized that the platforming aspect just isn't as fun as it should be. The only true enjoyment that I get out of this game is from the swinging/grabbing physics. The jump button feels awkward and counter intuitive and the characters run too slow. If anything, this game really made me appreciate just how good the original Mario's were. Me and 99% of my friends and family would rather replay Mario 1000 times over than sift through a bunch of new levels added in LBP.... only because playing the best levels in LBP are only fun for the first few playthroughs while theres that certain something about mario games that never get old.

    Stop trolling fgt.

On topic, I agree with what all you had to say about LBP Deejay, I got it anyway and it really bored me quickly, luckily it was within 7 days and gamestop let me return it.

Fable 2. Such an overwhelmingly banal and meh experience.

(Also, Gears Of War 2's campaign had moments that were unpolished, uninspired, cheesy and repetitive. Only moments - but I still expected more from a game with such a big budget. It also took the campaign until Act 4 to properly hit its stride. So yeah, GoW2's campaign: another disappointment overall.)

World Of Goo, Braid, Dead Space, Left 4 Dead and, arguably, Mother3... All moments that have made 2008 a pretty damn good year in my eyes.

Also, the FFXIII-360 announcement and resulting bawfest was.. well, downright hilarious.
