I dunno, what were you expecting out of it? It's a fun fighting game with Nintendo (and other) characters. I'm sorry it didn't shit gold?
I may not be speaking for everyone here, but it's not that it's a bad game so much that it was hyped to be the best thing ever. After two delays and months of little sneak peaks and promises to get us all excited, what we got was a game that is clearly (and intentionally) less competitive and completely unbalanced. Items in particular are what let me down; if items are on, you are not going to get a fair match, period, unless you turn off an overwhelming majority of them. Even something as minor as a item capsule can give you a major advantage and that's not cool. Not to mention, the single player mode was hyped up to be a proper, RPG-esque endeavor complete with epic storyline and it didn't even come close to achieving that.

In the end, it fails as a party game because everyone there who doesn't own it and doesn't know what they're doing is going to get owned quickly and get bored (Which is really a big shame, because they went to huge huge lengths to give the edge to newcomers and none of that worked to fix this problem at all), and it fails as a competitive fighting game as a majority of the hardcore have gone back to Melee or just play 2D Capcom games, or at least I have.

That said, it's pretty balanced for casual matches and yes, it is fun to play. There's also plenty to unlock and the music is fantastic so there's good reason to come back and play it months after you've bought it which is more than can be said for nearly all other Wii games, so I'd say it's still a pretty good game. It was just a huge let down from what we were promised.

That said, for me the biggest letdown was the new Tales of Symphonia game. Granted I haven't gotten very far, but the GC graphics and silly storyline just don't seem very compelling. Maybe it'll get better, but one of the big Wii titles I was looking forward to may have just been another dud.

Does Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom not being released in the states count?

My PS3 was a disappointment. I think it's because I never get the chance to play the damn thing, but as a movie device and media center, It's amazing. Metal Gear Solid alone was more than enough to justify my purchase, the media center seals it. Still, I wish I had more time for the gaming. Maybe I'll play through MGS again. I won't say LBP was a disappointment, because I had a hell of a time with the creation mode, but I just wish I had more time to fiddle with it. As of now, I think I turn on my PS3 for gaming about once a week.

MGS4. About an hour of gameplay intermixed between 20 hours of cutscene. Don't get me wrong, MGS has always been cs/text heavy, but I want to play more than 5 minutes at a time. And the whole Otacon / x name (not mentioning it so as not to spoil it for some), was completely needless and tacky. Not to mention the STUPID resolution to it at the end. Snake's snarky comments every now and then was gold though.

WoW. Started about 2 weeks before WotLK hit. Got to 80 DK just afterwards in no time. Soon as i hit 80 I had nothing to do but grind rep. Whoopie. Both professions maxed, swimming in gold, and good gear. So what now? Rogue being able to kill you with you stunned the ENTIRE time and ret pally's being what they are is garbage. Both need a nerfbat bad.

Resident Evil 5 being delayed till 2009.

Also, a lack of strong and powerful 3rd party games for the Nintendo Wii. I hope Nintendo realizes just how badly they made the Wii in some aspects (OhhaitherestillusingCDs.) I think everyone can agree that the Wii's graphics are not as impressive as they should have been. Games are not all about graphics yes but I think sometimes the Wii was specifically built only for 1st party Nintendo games. I have yet to see a good 3rd party game outside of Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles come out for the Wii.

RE5 was never delayed, they set the street date in July during E3, for 03/13/09.

Early in 2008 like in Jan or Feb I remember seeing RE5 release date being late 2008 like Nov or Dec.

I dont recall seeing that, even at GDC early this year, capcom wouldnt set a release date for the game or give a ball park for it, all they had to offer were a few teaser and gameplay trailers and declinded to comment on a release date, guess I need to go link hunting.

Edit: In may was the first glimpse Capcom gave of a release date and it was the end of the fiscal year, being march.

My biggest disappointment was PS3 price drops.

Okay, Sony. Discontinuing production on a good model and removing features/putting in a bigger hard drive then dropping the price on the better model to $299 and never making more is NOT a fucking price drop. A price drop is saying "okay we make PS3 that are 299 now lol". What you're doing is standard practice when you discontinue a line.

Fuck sake. If you say "PS3 for $299 lol" make a fucking PS3 that's $299.

    My dissapointments were :

    - Spore, most biggest dissapointment
    - Wii, and all the games on it.
    - Mario Kart Wii, felt very cheesy and low budget, especially when you hear the VA in that game, sounds like they just picked up some interns to do it.
    - Zelda Wii, felt too extended at the end, then the ending was like "Idk my bff jill?" then ended - I wanted something more ocarina like.
    - Brawl, was kinda boring. SSBM captured thousands of hours from me, brawl was just meh for some reason. Nifty music, but I think it was the fact "More of the same" - it didn't even visually look different.
    - WotG , SE could have made something really amazing with this expansion, by taking us to Tavnazia[S] with more epic scenes, the real Tavnazia and not a bomb shelter, and other epic things, but instead we're brought with a campaign expansion where you miss absolutely nothing by not having it installed aside from unlocking DNC or SCH.
    - Mythic Weapons in FFXI, all the other pre-reqs were very welcoming by the playerbase, we were happy to see that SE wanted it to be a test of skill, then we get a slap in the face in the form of Alexandrites, which showed us SE are still retarded and want it to be a test of gil over test of skill. GG

    Lets see...

Gears of War 2 - Rehashed.
    Fable 2 - Worst Ending of 2008
Spore - It was good until that middle part. I didn't bother with Space.

Lesse... that's all I can think of now.

Mirror's Edge fighting wasn't that bad. Just slide+kick and then double punch (For the buffier guys) and then run around a bit until you get the next guy. I liked running around a hell of a lot though.

Famitsu was reporting back in early '07 that the game had been delayed to '08. Other sources were referencing Jun Takeuchi when mentioning delays as early as December of '06. Granted, there was never an actual date announced but that doesn't mean it wasn't delayed either.

Well when someone announces a date for their game, a street date for the first time and never produced a date for the game before thats not something I would consider a delay, when in fact the game is coming on that date that was announced.

The game has been in production since 05 and had never been given a date till early this year, so please show me the delay, even if it was delayed from 06 like u say, that wouldnt be an 08 dissapointment lol...
