If you are updating normally, it won't list corrupt files at all, it should just attempt to re-download them after checking.
Well, right after I moved the files and attempted to update 'normally', I keep getting stuck at the second stage "Downloading Files" with 18% on downloading patch.txt and 1% on 20/20 files to go (instead of 1600+) with an unknown time remaining. I thought moving the files over was meant to skip this step?

Thanks, I'll actually let it go through then, even though I think it got to the download part >.> I can always try again, and I'm doing it on this computer too, so maybe it'll just work on this one instead. Thanks again for your help :D Kool too oh yahhhhhh

You shouldn't have to register at all. If I remember Megaupload correctly, all you have to do is enter the anti-bot code at the top of the page, then the next page makes you wait 45 seconds before showing you the download button. You might need to temporarily allow the page if using NoScript.

FFXI's version updater will still have to download a couple of files to finish the process. There is little that can be done to avoid that. The traffic may be so heavy that its having trouble downloading even those small files. Patch.txt I believe is part of the FFXI's patcher cache. If you can't progress past that file, you might consider deleting the file and trying again.

But, its better to download 20 files than it is to download 1600+ files on a day like this. Just keep hitting retry until you make some progress.

Only SE would think that 400,000 people downloading 1600 files each individually would be better than one bulk file... The current update process is retarded. Lose connection due to people mass downloading? Restart the process from the beginning! Thanks SE!

Yeah, just drag and drop them. If you extract them instead, make sure they get in the proper place. Then log on to FFXI as you would normally do.

Well it seems I'm going to have to delete patch.txt and try something else. I don't see patch.txt in the patch folder, so should I copy patch.txt elsewhere first then repaste it back in?

I'm gonna upload patch.txt my linkshell's webiste, hopefully that will help you make some progress, its better than using Megaupload. I couldn't host the entire patch because I was worried it would kill all of our bandwidth. Just gimmie a sec.

    EDIT: http://www.tribulationsls.com/patch/patchtxt.zip

Extract that file and put it in C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\ so you end up with C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\patch.txt

I'm working on an installer to help make this easier for people to understand where the files need to go.

I went and grabbed the rest of the files that were causing you problems and uploaded them too:

    http://www.tribulationsls.com/patch/soundetc.zip

    Same method as last one.

I went ahead and complied an installer for the new patch.

If you are using the EU or JP versions of FFXI, you will need to manually point it to your FFXI install.

I'm not sure why, but this never works for me. I just did the same, d/l'd it, replaced the appropriate program files with the update files, and it still is making me do the full update. Last update it borked some of the non-update files when I tried it as well and the update took 3x longer than it normally would have.

I don't mind since the normal update isn't taking that long so far, but I'm curious as to why this doesn't work for me.

Worked great, thank you very much. Downloaded, copied, filecheck (only had to D/L 2 files) in under 15min compared to the 4+ hours POL was saying.

    Much appreciated.

In the installer I posted, I included the patch cache files, if you haven't tried it, you might consider giving it a try, it might help, it might not. If the game can't determine its version, I think it forces a full-file check.
