    Do you have trouble with healing against Zhayolm boss or spammy Gears/chariot? I could imagine my group running out of mp quite fast in certain situation.

    Anyway, we use 2 RDM due to the lack of whm or anything else. It's working pretty well, even if whm+rdm is better in overall imo.

    I prefer 5-7 ppl in my Salvage setups, 6 is great, but I dont like to over use melee power VS mage power, and love to have a strong backline. For some reason I see random groups lack alot in backline and over use melee, same goes for Nyzul also, heavy backline allows small frontline to do more wild things really.

    As for jobs, many works, the usual MNK MNK THF BRD WHM RDM (and something else when going over 6 ppl) is well-known. When we have 6+ ppl and add another melee, my favorite is a really good DRG with great gear.

    Worked like an absolute charm. Killed CC with slightly over 20 minute remaining, I did only one wing on 1F, but I think the biggest change was doing BRD BRD over WHM BRD. No idea why I hadn't tried it before considering thats how I merit everytime...

    I'm extremely picky on jobs selection when it comes to salvage, and I only do 6 man.

    Bhaf
    2 DD
    BRD
    THF
    RDM
    SCH

    2 ramparts + 10 gears (Sch's nukes are really helpful here) + Megaboss easy. Warpers are usually THF.

    Arrp
    MNK (great for first floor)
    DRK/SAM (great for 6th floor, as well as stunning Perdition and random ga)
    THF
    BRD
    RDM
    SCH or WHM doesn't matter. SCH can nuke boss quite a bit and we're usually left with 15 mins after hitting all NM's and boss. WHM will handle all warps.

    Zhayolm
    MNK
    DRK/SAM (weapon bash and stun on frogs are great, especially when now it's fixed)
    THF
    BRD
    RDM
    WHM for Stona on breakga, as well as staying at warp on 1st floor, running the opposite direction for warp on 2nd floor, 3rd and 5th floor warp.

    SSR
    Depending on route
    If we're going for morrigan legs, then
    MNK/NIN
    DRK/SAM
    BRD
    RDM/NIN
    WHM/NIN
    THF/NIN

    If we're going for marduk feet path, then
    MNK/NIN
    DRK/SAM
    BRD
    RDM/NIN
    RDM/NIN
    THF/NIN

    As mentioned, need to be fast. Stunning restoral is a great way to save time. Turtle floor, pop flee before even zoning up to agro gear train, etc...BRD 2 hour on the 4 ramparts, and DRK whip out KC and 2 hour turtle makes this floor a breeze.
    Like Richardd, we take the longest route and still manage to finish boss with 10 mins to spare.
    Best advise is to keep trying and trying till perfection. Saving up several seconds here and there are the key to a succesful salvage run without timing out.

    Just as a note...

    MNK is nice, but MNK is not necessary.

    They have a great head start on the first floor, and remain a solid choice throughout, but if you don't have good MNKs, don't forego taking a better-geared/more competent DD to shoehorn in a MNK.

    You underate counterstance, but yes, any good solid melee "can" do it.

    Try and get a mnk or 2 though Q.Q

    Yea this, Counterstance alone is a reason to bring MNks for Salvage imo.

    I was spoiled by relic MNKs.

    Counterstance without Spharai is nice but not borked, especially after the first floor. So long as you can set at least one DD/NIN up with SJ and magic, they're going to be within a margin of error better attributed to player skill than job differences.

    I do like MNK HP, the fact that their good DD gear is much stronger defensively than most other DDs', and how good their innate defensive skills/JAs are. That said, they aren't unique in that regard (SAM being one fairly obvious example).

    Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on MNKs, it just seems to me like a lot of people count them as an absolute necessity, and they really aren't. Good MNKs are great to have, average MNKs are easily replaced by any other competent DD. It might require slightly different allocation of cells, but any inconvenience caused by that is almost certainly less than the inconvenience of mediocrity.

    Same here, I used to have a WAR in my group sub /NIN all the time but the benefits of King's Justice are just huge in Salvage IMO. Mainly because of the fact that Rampage or Vorpal Blade can't SC for fuck. With King's Justice he can make Light with a DRK(Insurgency) THF(Mandalic Stab) SAM(Kasha) DRG(Drakesbane) MNK(Astetic's Fury) and Fragmantation with Asuran's Fist (AF>KJ).

    These days my group usually looks like:
    WAR/SAM
    { MNK/NIN || DRK/SAM || SAM/WAR }
    THF/NIN
    BRD/WHM
    RDM/WHM
    { WHM/SCH || SCH/RDM || RDM/WHM }

    People do Salvage with much more than 6 now-a-days? It's hard to believe this guy is that serious.

    A couple of specific job questions. How good would DNC be in salvage with some of their new merits and relic. It seems like they got a decent boost in melée worth than before. I've never really gotten to come melée nor do I know any 75 DNC to test this out with right now but they seems like a decent job to bring.

    Less efficient than a brd, but not a bad support/buff job if you dont have access to others. The real problem comes from half the zones having alot of undead(no drain), having to have an extra person giving the mobs TP (w/o adding too much DD), and being near useless for the boss. You would probably be better off just adding another DD or solid support job.

    Thanks, that helped a bit. I guess what I was trying to ask as making a support heal if you only had access to one bard and one RDM
