^--------------Theres the point, I think you may have missed it the first go 'round. The system isnt substituting soloing, cripe you can only do it once per Vana'diel day and it takes all of 10-15 minutes. The reward is far more than just the XP you get. It gives gil(invaluable to a struggling early game player), and tab buffs(makes your soloing a lot better than using for-pay meds). This system alone does a lot for solo/duo/trio, and couple that with the addition of treasure caskets and the recent raising of EP experience, and you can tell it was all planned out and calculated TO appeal to the bulk of the playerbase that isnt thinking to itself MERIT MERIT MERIT PHAT LOOT MERIT MERIT MERIT 24/7.(Not that there's anything wrong with that, its just not the direction this thing is aimed.)

By george I think someone else got it!!! Lets see they added basically Free XP, Free food, Free Reraise, Free tele when beastmen owned. All easily obtainable solo at the lowest of levels yeah that all sucks where is my instant I am 75 button. Are you kidding me this is just gravy and win all the way around.

Seriously though, nobody answered my question on page 3... if you obtain tabs, does it stick to all zones for all fields of valor, or are they zone-speciifc?

I expect a little better of an xp reward, and maybe some decent items that you can only get by doing it. When in the time it takes me to walk back to the Field manual to start a new mission, I can solo the same amount of xp that I would get as a reward, I hardly call it worth it. I might as well just stay out and solo grind. All it does is try stave off the boredom of soloing, and poorly at that. So it helps out the people that can't spend more than an hour or two at a time in game xping. Fine, I get that. But beyond that it serves no real purpose for the mainstream gamers that play. Perhaps if there were an actual benefit and incentive to do it over simply soloing, I might see some marginal use to it, bot for now its just another useless, poorly planned event that will quickly lose its appeal to the bulk of the player base.

And before you use the argument, "If you don't like it then don't use it", my response is, "I don't intend to".

Did you just say that bonus Exp, Gil, hour long refresh/regen, free food effects and free Reraise effects that all can be gained as low as *LEVEL 1* wasn't enough of a reward for killing things you'll kill anyway?

If you ever level a low lvl mage job and *not* get the refresh effect because "you don't like the system" then you should be booted from any party you join.

I hope SE follows through and brings this system, and the casket thing, to all of the old world zones for the next update. I can't see this ever being added to ToAU or WotG areas, but RotZ/CoP places could use some love.

Is anyone really disappointed about the lack of 60ish and beyond support?

Before we knew anything they said a new system for low leveled players.

I haven't had the chance to experience the system first hand, but what I hear it sounds nice enough. I kind of wish they would add exp rewards to old stuff though...

Wow, this is so much fun. This + Treasure Chests makes soloing and duoing so much damn fun. I've been messing around on my NIN37 in Qufim and I make like 3-4k an hour just playing around with crappy EPs. Level 5 there gives 770XP/Gil on top of the 600 or so I gain from the mobs I kill (takes about 20 mins).

If you plan it right you can start one FoV right before the day ends, by the time you finish it'll be about 8:00 game time, start another FoV which will end around 16:00 game time, mess around for 20 minutes, and then do another one when the day turns. Doing thos took me about an hour and 20 minutes to go from 37-38 on my NIN (from like 15 EXP into the level)

PS: still no Custodes

FoV is surprisingly enjoyable. It feels very simple and natural. I think I'll be using my NPC more than ever and actually putting my tactic pearl to good use. From what I can tell so far it seems quite popular, the dunes were swamped with people claiming every crab, and lizard in sight. Limiting it to once a day was a concern, but in practice most likely you won't finish more than one per day anyways. If it's still relatively popular by the next version update I'd consider it successful. My only gripe is they didn't include FoV as an auto translate term.

Essentially this is Square's answer to experience rewarded quests in many other MMO's. But better still, it does away with the pretense of carrying them under the banner of "quests", and just concentrates them into one explicit system. None of that cliché, patronizing "would ye be willing to defeat 8 trickster gnomes that keep plundering yonder crops for me" bullcrap for the 120th time. This is effectively cutting out the middle-man, and good riddance. Don't let the door hit ye on thine ass on the way out.

It's enjoyable to an extent, but honestly it's done nothing but piss me off at lower levels. 12~13 range for La Theine when most of the mobs are even match sucks ass. I've been killed 2-3x doing the thing solo. This is with some of the tab bonuses too. Overall at 40-50 it's pretty enjoyable but on lower levels it's done nothing but frustrate me so far since you still need another person to make it worthwhile. Fail.

Many jobs cannot solo meets well even at low levels without eating dirt but most can handle ep and dc those levels....

Yeah, if your job can't solo well just do EP's/DC's with band on or something.. or kill EM's with NPC. That's how I got my whm 2 levels today in valkurm, sooo nice.

If you had read what I said, you would look like less of an idiot. I said 40-50 it works quite well, lower levels not so much. Any training regiment 10+ usually bounces you onto Even Matches, which you can't kill anyway. It's ill thought out in my opinion.

He's saying that you don't have to do the page 3 that says "for levels 19~22" if you're a 21 whm, you can do the page 2 "for levels 16~19" instead which is easier.

Yea, apparently someone with your amazing ability to start bitching on someone's opinion wouldn't have understood what I said. I did FoV for a long time on NIN/DNC in the 40-50's and it was great. It's rather stupid to do a lower level page for say, Valkurm, i have to accept the regiment and run to La Theine. Oh, or in the wonderful case of North Gustaberg, run from Port Bastok to Highlands. The placement and execution of some of the lower Regiments sucks compared to the higher level ones.

edit: and I said he was an idiot because I did mention how well it works in the 40+ range. He quoted me stating that, more/less. I'm loving the higher level ones but these lower (around 15-20ish) ones are kind of a pain with the placement of the books.

Have you been getting loads a Caskets? I know this isn't the Casket Topic, but during the FoV in Xarc and earlier in Saruta i'm getting a lot more. The food effects are incredible for these too, love the attack food.
