Good, someone else mentioned an old game, now I don't feel like the biggest nerd in the thread anymore.

I can't really remember any games with terrible endings that haven't already been talked about here.
I want to say Beyond the Beyond just because of how shitty the story was in general, but I don't remember the ending at all so who knows, it might not have been too bad.
Journey to Silius had an ending that pissed me off, but then it was almost a pointless game anyway.
HURRR SOME GUYS KILLED MY DAD, GONNA GO GET REVENGE.
ENDING: I got revenge, game over.
I know it's been already said but I go with Star Ocean 3... I played this game for 80 hours to get that ending ? It sucks because I really enjoyed the whole game :/
I haven't beaten too many games recently, but I have to say Rogue Galaxy's ending was pretty bad. They spent the entire game setting up a certain ending then didn't follow through with it. It was pretty disappointing.
I dunno, I liked SO3's endings.
The whole 4D universe deal was a bit much but it didn't kill the whole game for me like it did for others.
I do think the transition would have been better if not for the fact that it felt like the end of the world almost literally for our heroes for them to go to a happy-go-lucky type place directly after.
This, worst ending I have ever seen in any game, and I got the kill shot (not Skill guy). I wanted an epic fight vs Lucuis (sp) and all it took was one hit to kill this super badass?... not to mention all 3 endings have no "ending" feel at all to them. Great.. so you choose to revive your dog and sister... woohoo you get a note from ur sister saying she cant wait to see you. Thats all...
Person who wrote the ending should never write another game ending again lol..
Don't worry, mine's older.
eye of the beholder 1. Text boxes are fun! (especially when you actually fight the last bost and accidentally click past it).
I think there was actually a "worst endings of all time" article in CGW years ago. It was like
#1, I don't remember the game: you win and immediately drop to a dos prompt.
#2, eye of the beholde: you win, get a text box victory message and drop to a dos prompt.
Nah, TMNT is older.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (NES game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)
I believe "Rampage" -- if they were talking about the original arcade game -- is the oldest game that's been mentioned in this thread which actually has an ending. Does it? I've never beaten it.
"Total Recall" and "Journey to Silius" came out in 1990. I also find it interesting that both of those titles were mentioned within the same thread, even though their connection is vague.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver takes it for me.
It didn't even feel like the end of the game, and all of a sudden you're left with a feeling the game was only half-complete (even if it was long as all hell by platform/adventuring standards) as it gives you a short FMV as you see your main enemy get away, . Had to wait all the way for Soul Reaver2 to come out to continue the story.
I didn't really mind the lolplottwist, but the dungeon that came up next (looks like this digitalized place, crystallized paths, etc.) just had me at a complete loss.. I had no idea where to go and then I got to this random room with a bunch of enemies that kicked my ass, at which point I decided that I'm not playing it anymore.
It's been like a year since then. >.> I would honestly play it again if that dungeon didn't piss me off so much.
Ya, going from "Holy shit the whole universe is going to end" to "Hey lets go ride a ferris wheel" was definitely an awkward transition.
SO2 did the same thing (Fun City becomes accessable at about the same time you discover the big giant plot to destroy approximately everything), but in that case the ferris wheel is just sort of sitting there.
Shadow of the Colossus scores pretty high up there for me on the "what the fuck just happened?" scale. I was OK with the story up until the very end when...
Spoiler: show
The new Prince of Persia.
Probably not worst in the real sense of the word, but one that made me rage pretty hard at the time was Link's Awakening. It was all a dream FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
Spoiler: show
Fallout 3 was disappointing, really expected more than what I got.
Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy got completely batshit retarded from about 1/2 way on and became impossible to take seriously.
Can't think of any "worst evar" endings. Need to go play my old games again.
No wait, .skate on the 360. Once you finish the story mode you get a small pop-up that tells you you're done.
You can carry on playing, do any remaining challenges and all that but that small pop-up is sort of a "You've finished story mode, you're done, turn the game off" message.
I rather liked it. Was sort of an interesting twist and hopefully for a sequel
I rather disliked the original Rayman ending. I couldn't beat it as a kids years later to find those little caged things to reach the last stage... then the ending was a failure to me after all that effort...
