Treasure Casket - Initial Findings

I wonder if there's merit to the idea that more people farming = fewer chests dropped.

Farmed Xarc tonight. Three hours, 100 mobs. Yes, three hours to kill 100 mobs. It was just that crowded. Tons and tons of farmers.

locked chests: 0

What a waste of a night. (Was /THF, not sure if that means anything in chest drops.)

Would make sense, but then again not really. I was in Xarc for like 1 hr 15 mins without seeing a brown drop, then I get 2 in 3 mobs... so random. I almost wish you'd be guaranteed one every x amount of kills and just see blue ones as random. I might just be saying that 'cause I'm getting bad luck with browns lately <.<

SE announced that it's a 10% drop on caskets, that's what kills me. 2/100 is NOT 10%.

There are 16 "Treasure Caskets" in the .dat files for Xarcabard. Maybe it's a 10% drop rate, but it can't drop if there are already 16 out that haven't despawned (rather than forcing an early despawn on the oldest one)? With all the other people there, how likely does it seem to you that this might have happened?

Also was thinking that each chest (16 dats?) has a repop type timing that needs to be met before that chest can even have its 10% chance of poping

Well I know that I just leave blue chests if I find them... I doubt there's always 16 browns up, but if brown and blue are both included in the 16(and with the same name, I don't see why not) then maybe I should just empty all the blues I find from now on and see if I notice a difference.

I did two level 1 runs in beaucedine tonight as 35 dnc, killed 23 mobs, only saw one chest, blue/temp items. blarf. coulda really used some temp item lovin too.

herder's subligar!! got from a hill lizard had to guess between 17,18, or 19. picked 19 (my lucky #) and got it! been trying for these the past few days its about time

Yikes, my luck sucks. Probably killed 100 mobs in Xarc and have seen like 3 blues. Zone's rather empty. Only person that responded to me said they weren't hunting, so dunno if there's any kind of limit or not.

Still no gothic gauntlets and I've probably seen 45~ brown chests in xarc total, 30 opened :/ I'm just giving up after 10 chests daily, random as hell loot system >_>;

Why is it some chests have 4 guesses on it? Does this mean only those have the rare/ex item on it?

Dunno. I had one with some pretty crappy clues, but later got my gauntlets from a 6 try chest. Spent a bit of time in BD after, but spawns were being a lot more fickle. Think I saw 1 brown chest in like 3 hours and no sabatons.

Im going on the exact opposite, I got my gauntlets in 15 minutes or less in xarc, now ive been farming behemoths for close to 10 hours, only seen about 8 chests drop, unlocked 6 of them and still no sabatons.

Unlocked two 4 chances chests with no luck. Got Brass Mask and Mythril Earring and Vegetable Seeds. Can't remember if I got the Ether +2 from it as well.

4 days of this crap is getting old ...

I keep getting chests with terrible clues. My clues are usually

First digit is Odd.
First digit is 7, 8, or 9.
Second digit is Odd.
Second digit is 7, 8, or 9.

I've had like 6 chests in a row that are like this. So fucking annoying.

Agreed. At first this seemed like a new and fun thing... but in truth it's the exact same system that we had before. Wait for the NM to pop (have a chest drop), hope to claim it (brown, not blue), successfully kill it (successfully open chest), hope you get the drop (hope it's the rare/ex thing).

They sounded like they intended this for lower levels but they'd prolly suffer more than I am right now XD The effects on these pants better be somewhat good at least

Well, if you approach it from that direction it's obviously going to wear you out. I don't think FoV'ers and normal exp'ers mind that there's a chance to get something extra out of normal exping, but if you go there only to pop chests to get teh phat lewt it's gonna be a headache for sure.
