FFXI Certain zone slideshow-like lag

When I zone into Windy [S], Sky (just Ru'Aun Gardens) , and Arrapago Reef, I get a horrible 0.1-0.4 FPS picture slideshow like lag. I've done file checks, because I assumed it was a broken file, but it didn't help. One weird thing about it though, is that until recently, I could unplug my USB microphone ( if it was plugged in when I zoned in) and it would go back to normal. This no longer works. I have no idea what the problem is. Does anyone know what's going on? Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated.

pretty sure its something to do with your soundcard, i had the same issue with sky and arrapago reef, i just disabled my sound completely and it fixed it but the downside was no sound at all in game, also if you change the music.dat for the zones it will fix it too
