This nerf did not directly affect me since I am big on gardening and mining/GS/S right now. What they should have done is raise the mining level requirement in mount Z to level 50-60. I'm sick of the rmt that are in Mount Z day on end mining the same little areas.

Most of my ls members are not garden/mining addicts like me though. For some of them farming Zitah/CasteZ was their own way to pass the time and make gil and it has been nerfed on them. It sucks and I feel bad for them. Yes, there are other ways to make gil, but whatever it is I'm sure the RMT have their hands in it.

    my 2 cents.

Okay I'm so sick of these damn threads every time there's an update like this. Let's call it like it is, with a handy-dandy translator:

QQ: "I need ___ gil to get by."
Translation: "I'm too lazy to spend 2 weeks farming so that I can make my own sneak/inv supplies and tools, so I need to find easy farming spots so that I can pad others' pockets."

QQ: "ISNM is too hard to set up/doesn't drop enough."
Translation: "I don't get invited to money-making battles because of lack of skill or friends."

QQ: "How am I supposed to get by when SE keeps changing everything to screw the whole player base?"
Translation: "I have trouble adjusting to a new situation, so it benefits me to stand in whitegate and complain rather than trying something new."

QQ: "This will hurt thousands of players."
Translation: "There are so many people in this game that, after all these years, are STILL idling by at mid-levels!"

QQ: "Gardening is not a viable money option."
Translation: "For some reason, I feel that I'm entitled to instant gratification! And also, I KNOW that I have to stand in my Mog House and watch the actual plants grow rather than taking the time to farm other things while my plants sprout into cash unattended. Such as complaining in Whitegate about how life isn't handed to me."

QQ: "Only people in HNMs have the opportunity to make real money."
Translation: "I don't want to work on campaign ops which could net me millions. I am too lazy to merit for IS points which can be parlayed into cash items, but I DESERVE to have the same things that people who expend tremendous effort organizing and trying get. ME WANT!"

Actually, you want to stop RMT, cut down the buyers. If they got axe'd every time that STFU report come out, it would stop.

Go Campaign, two good fights at level 75 with net you about 3000~3500 notes. (Also 5-7K exp).
Take said notes, buy 3000 note item, NPC said item for 3~4K gil.

repeat... most jobs can campaign with little to no consumables, especially with sigil. If you get a good rotation going, you can do 3 to 4 campaigns in an hour. So with 7 to 10K exp per hour, on top of 6 to 8K gil per hour...
exp/meriting and making gil at the same time... win-win!

Sorry man, but not only are you completely wrong about inflation trends, but if you didn't actually farm any of these things for money regularly, I don't see how your opinions should really matter a whole lot in this discussion because you don't have any first hand knowledge of the effectiveness of the activity itself.

I farmed both b-skins quite a bit over the last few months, and a decent amount of the time I was the only one there doing it on my server. I really didn't make the kind of money that's economy-effecting, either.... it was just a nice way to get some easy gil for food, sneak oils, reraise items, etc.

Maybe farming isn't the most efficient way to make money, but it is easy and relatively painless... and now that all of us "retards" who didn't feel like constantly dealing with the frustrations of the AH don't have anything worthwhile to farm anymore, competition in whatever it is that you do for money will increase. FFXIAH.com does more than help you find good things to sell... it allows you to identify successful people and copy their selling trends. There's gonna be quite a few people looking for new ways to earn their gil now. See where I'm going with this? We all lose, at least a little.

Fixed it for you. Anyone with two braincells to rub together have hidden their buying/selling history. Search my name all you like, you won't find out how I make my money.

Gil drops from monsters, gil drops from BCNMs etc, and NPCed items.

With a normal government tax like AH fees, in real life that money is eventually spent back into the economy through salaries or other projects. In FFXI, it vanishes. So, to compensate, there must be an equally steady flow coming in or the economy will start to deflate.

So, meager as blood farming was, it was still a vital cog in the economy. And now that that's gone, something similar will have to replace its gil production eventually.

And, no, the economy is not going to collapse overnight because of this update's changes. But it certainty wont help it get built up.
Good point. Too bad there isn't an FFXI lottery. Where AH fees collected get pooled into a weekly lottery where the lucky winner can win a couple million gil.

Yes... I am too lazy to spend 2 weeks farming. Are you fucking kidding me? and you say pad others pockets like its a bad thing, those pockets are usually crafters and I don't mind supporting their craft if I can afford the merchandise =) I believe thats a big part of this economy SE is striving for.

Yes, everyone knows that it takes a great deal of skill to spam ISNM and all other xxNM. lord knows the drops are always amazing and worth the effort too... This is a fairly free source of potential money, but once again its just potential the drops suck which is why we aren't all rich even though most of us can do 2 ISNM a week at least. unrealiable money, you may as well put down chocobo betting as a viable source of income too.

Nothing wrong with gardening, its one of the few decent things you can do with little effort (if anything the most lazy way to make money i can think of) but what I hate is when people need to pull that "instant gratification" bullshit. I don't know if you have ever farmed anything before... but it sure as fuck is far and clear of instant gratification. Would it be so bad if things were a little easier? Why is it people like you think everything has to be buttfuck hard and people who have a problem with it should just quit and go play WoW? Enjoying the game and removing as much of the grind as you can isn't moronic... you are for thinking ball busting = real fun.

eh... touching the HNM thing is a dead end. Either you get filthy rich from it or your LS leader does w/e but once again you think everyone should have to be hardcore and play 22hrs a day for those leet gears. With the exception of relic weapons and dynamis I don't think there is much content SE has made for just the "tremendous effort" crowd.

thanks for pointing out our flaws mr big smart translator man =)

True the in game economy is like a game of jenga (more or less).. every time a peace is removed it gets weaker.. it may not effect you at all this turn but as the peaces are removed people will get cornered with lesser options for gil... if you farm camps will overcrowd, if you AH people will under cut, ect... so ya and at one point am sure people will get sick of it and just go and play something else!

ps: if one change does not effect you getting/farming x item, but it will the people that buy it so it comes back!

I dunno, now maybe instead of farming 10 stacks of Beast blood people will go farm an Agaricus mushroom or two and make that market competitive, lowering the price of rabbit pies. I like rabbit pies! Therefore I'm for the update.

They should make every item, no matter how trivial, NPC for 1 million gil. That way everyone will have a shitload of money and there will be no need for the RMT.

and then you could cap out at 999,999,999 gil and no one could inflate the price on anything because everything would cost max price :3 this idea sounds fun

Reminds me of when I got max Meseta (Mesata?) in Phantasy Star in both my inventory AND bank. Shit was so cash, I could afford everything, but didn't want any of it. :<

If you are too lazy to spend time farming, then don't come to others with your hands out as if you deserve something. That's all I'm saying. I remember busting my ass for beetle jaws and tiger skins, and over time, got to bigger things. I never came into the game saying "oh I'm poor, and you're rich, gimmeh!"
As for supporting crafters, that's fine, but half the people supporting crafters then turn around and bitch about how expensive consumables are, rather than spending a little of their time investing in the ability to make their own.

What about mining? "Too boring!" Harvesting? "I don't know how!" KSNM ODS (which no one in their right mind would describe as taking a great deal of skill. "I don't have seals! And farming them is too boring! And I am out of space in my MH! And the NPC in Port Jeuno is tooooo faaaaaar!!! *cry*"

If you read back, the whole point was that people want instant gratification and refuse to WAIT for their damn plants to grow. It's not like they have to sideline their activities to monitor gardening. If anything, they have to pop in 3 times total to feed/feed/harvest and that's it. But instead, they want what they want, and they want it now. And if it's not now, it's not good enough. Not everything should be "buttfuck hard," but it shouldn't be bitch easy either.

Or.... you could do low-level assaults, and get very solid gear from that, or things that are sellable, and take very little time to accrue? I mean, seriously, people act like there are only 1-2 pieces of gear or outfits that are worthwhile, but 99% of the time, the same people don't even TRY to get something that takes even a nominal amount of work. Of course, that's assuming committing 2 hours of play time on assault every 4 days is a dealbreaker... oh wait - then it wouldn't be 10 minutes to get a full outfit, so it's not worth it.

But I have to agree it's all true for the most part, minus some of the buttfucking.

Its funny how some people are saying things like, search ffah to find new farming areas (which is fine to do for now) or that its good that SE nerfed this drop but not this one, etc.

What makes anybody think that SE wont just move on and continue reducing all npc'able drops? Its obvious that they will, especially if they believe RMT are profitting from it. Are these same people going to feel this way when their spots are found out and changed? This is a real question, would they mind or think that it was fair if their gil/hour was cut in half as a result of todays economy.

On the other hand though, after just checking the new prices of bugard skins (because they are the only items I have any concept of the price before the update). They look like a 50% reduction to me? Im not sure because I really dont farm for gil, I have a 100 craft, but it seems that maybe the update is less a complete nerf, rather than a correction for todays economy.

However, it still bothers me that some have taken it upon themselves to determine what method somebody should be able to make gil. Who is anybody to decide that doing an ISNM/BCNM/KSNM every day hoping to get lucky for gil is somehow the 'correct' way to make money. While the person that decides that they are going to go out and farm for that SH or Hauby or whatever deserves to have their sources cut because its too easy and should stop whining. Imo its more difficult to stare at the screen bored out of my mind by farming for hours on end than it is to do a 15 minute fight with 5 other people.

Meseta yeah.. So people used Photon Drops instead. I believe the same thing would happen in FFXI if gil became obsolete. Players would end up trading outside the AH using dynamis currency or some other finite/stackable item.
