At the same time as SE kill a big source of gil making for a lot of players... what do they do to nail the final nail into the coffin of a lot of people with one certain craft levelled?
Throw potions, temp sneak oils, temp prism powders into treasure chests everywhere.
I'm anticipating further gardening "adjustments" come March now to be honest - and that WILL completely kill me economically.
Alright, time for me to do some bashing *cracks fingers*.
Didn't Monomi: Ichi utter bankrupt the sneak oils? And as far as I remember no one brought potions with them unless they emptied a belt of a Hi-Pots for 1-20 solo leveling. If that's even the case.
Level1-25 never had a market for Sneak Oils or Invis powders. It was either "Avoid this goblin or die" kinda thing.
And no one buys pots unless its for a rather difficult BCNM.
___________
The price adjustments in my opinion, didn't effect me but probably killed a few of my friend's methods of making gil. Then againI never really farmed. One time I did it was for bird blood but I stopped it because too many people were farming it. Then i tried Beastmen Blood when Samisa was running rampant in WG and script teleporting worked well... but bleh. Killing 5 mobs every couple minutes hoping for drops as MNK/THF is not fun.
Though, right now I haven't had a dire need of gil. Though, I foresee that changing in a matter of a week or sooner.
Also, if they upped ENM drop rates the rare items wouldn't be as valuable as they are now, catch 22 and so on.
Its a silly move, but they're doing it to catch RMT. I'm more wishing they kept it in so they could keep track of people using the system and get caught by the RMT-PWNER v1.337.
LIFELONG REGRET!!!
Why do people give a shit about this? If they say it makes it harder to read, that doesn't make much sense because half of the avatars and signatures around here make it harder to read these forums. I for one am not too keen about the obese sweating man in your siggie for one. Blech~
The problem isn't doing BCNMs,ISNMS, and KSNMS or crafting to make gils. The problem is introducing gils into the economy. When the game started monsters used to drop tons of gils items used to be worth something selling to the npc. People keep saying do BCNMs , craft, or find some new way of getting gils. The problem is every step that SE does it removes some way of "INTRODUCING GILS" into the economy. Ask yourself where did that gil orginated from? Where do people find to pay millions for that item? How can someone pay for that BCNM item if SE keeps removing repeatable quest/ lowering items sold to NPC?
GILs do not simply magically appear and someone buys that million gil item off you.
Bottom line is if there's inflation, people bitch, and if there's deflation, people bitch. You're never going to be happy whether you spend your time crafting/BCNMing your gil or whether you spend your time farming/NMing it. Yes there are ways of making gil, you just have to get off your lazy ass and do it, or quit being a masochist playing a horribly sadistic game.
This update has actually made me level a craft, I never really seriously leveled one before. Started on Alchemy, and with NPC priced items I'm making a profit along the way. Wish I did this sooner <_<.
Just out of curiosity, I'm a 100 alchemist and never NPC'd a remedy. What was the NPC Price before the nerf and what is it now??
Which is why SE should be paying more attention to stimulating the consumables market, trying to actually make Alchemy worth it for common activity. Potions still remain largely useless, Potion drops were a laughable slap to players, self-Erase potions are like buying expensive pieces of gear for a simple erase in a bottle and stat bonus potions require materials so rare its ridiculous. (Go go dried Mugwort off NMs or Rare Fresh Mugwort -> Dried for a some short use stat boosts)Alright, time for me to do some bashing *cracks fingers*.

Im all for diversifying how one makes money (i do myself) but SE needs to give some attention to consumable crafting if they honestly want to add more and more temp items to zones. 3 years ago maybe Panaceas would have been broken, maybe the ability to chug low tier potions would have been unfair (high level ones have long use times anyway) and maybe using stat potions would have been "omg broken" but times have changed and crafting needs an overhaul if the new standard for SE regarding NPCing items is going to be swift and utter annihilation.
Rocl, your comic sans typeface is making me die a little inside every time you post. :[
please~
I'm enjoying the font debate a whole lot more than the original topic.
I enjoy discussion forums that don't defeat themselves with off-topic posts aimed at killing discussion. Dear god! Discussion happening on topic on a forum! That's not the way our good republican and democrat overlords have raised us!
At any rate, people need to get off the RMT angle. This wasn't done specifically to combat RMT, since many players that weren't RMT farmed this. The BST with the bad english already explained why. But too many wanna-be elitists apparently chose to ignore it and go back to parroting "RMT! RMT! Squawk!" We only want to hear truth from people exactly like us. Or perhaps that's truthiness; hmmm.
Once again SE punishes legit players along with RMT instead of just banning the obivious rmt farmers at those locations.
This is a lazy-half assed solution to punish those players who used those methods to get their limbus money, buy consumables for dynamis, einherjar. Normally I wouldn't post anything but after hearing a friend complain to me over 2hrs about this on MSN its ridiculous.
Short verison: SE, Learn to run your game instead of being fuckin lazy ass bastards punishing your legit players along with RMT. It's no fucking wonder why gil buying is so out of control on this game, you make people feel like its a 2nd job to farm gil.
I wanna complain about the Argent set not coming with a Top Hat. I'm outraged.
You'll be able to hear a pin drop in Lufaise Meadows.
I expect this to make a dent in the FFXI economy because I knew many legitimate players that used this as one of their primary sources of income. All of the soloists that make money on their own just got slapped in the face.
