    Nuking Macro Discussion

I thought a thread for BLM's and SCH's to discuss macro usage would be useful to a lot of people.

Specifically, how do most people macro in situational nuking gear like Obi's and Ugg pendant?

Also, do most people use separate almost identical macro sets for skill vs int/mab builds?

Feel free to discuss for both people that use windower scripts + spellcast, and people that don't.

Keeping in mind that I don't actually cast nukes with macros(all manual), I have,

    Thunder - Ice - Fire - Wind

Those four macros all equip the appropriate staff. On the page right above them, I have an identical lineup that equips each respective obi. Its an easy and fast swap that way. Ugg. Pendant I generally do manually.

nukes get typical nuking gear. If i need something else in that specific spell, alt+E is my friend.

Though If i know i'll be spending a lot of time in skill gear (gods or JoL or w/e), i'll simply take the respective piece out of the macro (i.e. delete the last " mark) and just full time the skill pieces.

Spent hours trying to get spellcast to work with various copypastadumps that were posted, and none seem to work whether I modified or not. But hey, might work for someone else. I do everything fine manually, it ain't that hard. Sorc ring has its macro, resist set has its own, cast of nuke has its down, uggy, obi's and sorc pants have their own for my sets

4 lines of macros for general macros with normal nuking equipment. The 4 lines are generally the same spells, with control 2-6 switching. Puts on standard nuking gear. Ugga pendant is in the default nuking macro because I usually just solo stuff on BLM and seldom rest to full. If it's above, manually swap in Enlightened Chain. If I'm getting Obi effect, manually swap that in too.

I don't use spellcast, looked to complicated. Coding would be easy to figure out, just taking the time out to do it when what I have is simple enough, isn't worth it to me.

Usually I don't bother carrying around an INT+ neck piece so I just nuke with Ugga Pendant.

As BLM, right now I have only nuke macros for Blizzard III/IV, Thunder III/IV, Fire IV, Aero IV, Burst II and Freeze II.

Burst and Freeze have Obi + AF2 pants macroed to them, with 2 additional macros. One replaces Prope and Mahatma slops, other one only Slops to keep Obi in case of weather (but not day).

Default Nuke gear has Snow Ring, an additional macro swaps in Sorcerer's Ring when needed.

I used to do this with SE macro system and needed like 3 palettes to do all of this, at first it was kinda hard to pull off, then got better with time.

Right now I use a G15 Keyboard, and on top of .txts having no lag, just need to hit a key for whatever macro to go off.

    thunder 4, bliz 4, burst 2, freeze 2, thunder 3, bliz 3
rest of tier 4s on second macro set

first 4 macro in nuking gear and appropriate staff, last two macro in obi + af2 pants. for thunder 4 on thunders day, thunder 4 macro => thunder 3 macro. for thunder 3 on thundersday, thunder 3 => thunder 4 => thunder 3. can figure out the rest probably.

not perfect, but it works for me.

    /ma "Thunder IV" <stnpc>
    //thunder
    /echo ---- Obi? ----
    /target <stnpc>
    /equip waist "Rairin Obi"

Basically hit enter twice to put on Obi.. just hit escape when it comes up to nuke as normal.

I don't feel like creating a bunch of situational macros for my uggly pendant and the obis, so I just switch them in when I need to.

I have two BLM rows, one is elemental torque, other is uggy pendant, jump between when I think i'm hitting the 50% mark. Second half of the book is my sleep, stun, etc and stays the same

I used to swap in obi/pants into the macro when I had a second, but I think I ran out of space to have a macro to hold the lines for easy copypasta

No Sorc ring, but planning on it soon. I think i'll need another row ._.

    Nuking macros:
    Damage Gear
    Elemental Gear
    Ugg Torque
    MB
    Nukes

Gear sets dont have staffs in them, the Nuke macros do.
Each nuke has it's corresponding obi, as well as af2 pants. Theyre macrod with a //, so if its iceday, take out one /.
    MB has earring and hands

Want to nuke thunder? Press the Thunder4 macro, then the ele or damage macro, and if itll bring you under 50% mp, hit the uggy macro.

I swap in Prudence Torque for Gravity. Otherwise, Uggly Pendant.

Stoneskin, Phalanx, Blink, Kite, Ni, Ichi, empty.....
Burn, Choke, Shock, Drown, Rasp, Frost, Bio2, Poison2, empty...

    TH1,Th2,TH3,TH4,TGA1,TGA2,TGA3,Burst2,Stun, Elemental
    Sleep,Sleep2,SLGA1,SLGA2,Drain,Aspir,Gravity,Bind, MB,HMP

    BL1, etc....
    Sleep, etc...

(Repeats in same order for all elements)

Kite equips Black Cloak, Gaiters, Terra's, Cheviot cape so on.
All elemental DoT's equip appropriate staff and gear.
All elemental spells equip nuking gear with appropriate staff.
Elemental macro equip all my elemental magic skill+ and int gear for when doing Wyrms and such, just hit the spell then hit that macro after I start casting.
MB has four /equip lines in it.
    "Sorc. Gloves"
    "Static Earring"
    "Sorc. Legs"
    "Correct Obi"
Before I do something I generally know wether I'll be MB'ing or if the Day opens for right spell I just go into that macro and either take away or add the closing (") for each piece of gear. Cast my spell then hit that macro and it equips the right gear.

Every spell I use is accesible fairly easily so I'm happy with my set up.

All elemental DoT's equip appropriate staff
Ele DoTs don't need Ele Staffs. Better equip Kirins Pole for a 150+ INT build.

    Black Mage:

    //spellname

That's all I need. I have a variable that sets my nuking mode into Resist or MAB gear. Enfeebling is broken down between baseline, Black (INT) and White (MND) magic. Day and Weather checks are performed for Obi and Sorcerer's Tonban usage. MP checks for Uggalepih Pendant are in too. Only thing I'm working on is integrating an idle set on aftercast.

    Scholar:

I took the base Black Mage xml and tuned to Scholar. Additional lines were added to handle Sublimation, Light Arts and Dark Arts. Still tuning how it should handle Penury/Parsimony.
