The 75y/o person lady who found it didnt want the 1k$ reward.
First thought: "lol what money".
But seeing as it was an old purse and the lady that lost was an elderly person that probably didnt know better (just sold my house to move near my son, wutz a wire transfer?!), I would feel like shit taking her entire life savings.
If it were drug money, id be driving my porsche around right now.
That's too much money to find and try to keep. Whether it's drug money, a sweet old lady's savings, or a would-be bank deposit that much money would eventually leave to trouble. Ever heard the saying "More money, more problems?"
Its mo money
What amounts to 'finding' it? Can I walk into a cafeteria and 'find' an abandoned bag at a table, and now it's mine? lol. 'Finders keepers' is stealing. The only difference is there is no liability.
That said though I'd still keep it.
Invest most of that into schools, get a decent car and an apartment.
Doing the right thing is what's right for you.
Just a quick thought, if most people only make say 50-60K/year, wouldn't the ability to stash 10K away, pay for this, buy that, save that here... might that throw up an IRS flag?
The black suits and sunglasses thing was definitely my thought, should I think about keeping the cash.
If you scroll down(not sure if it was there when posted) It says the owner of the bag was a old lady who sold all her belongings to go live with her son in FL. (Granted this may not be the smart way to transfer money of that amount)
Would you still keep the money knowing you robbed someone of everything? :/

wut son
claps to the lady, she's a righteous person being all right. depends on your level of morality i guess, eh?
I don't think I would take the whole bag that would look suspicious. I would fill my pockets shoes and waistband full of 100s. Then I would walk out like it was nothing. I would then hide most of it in my house and buy myself minor shit so no one got suspicious of how I came into so much money.
prob racist but I bet some ethnic groups would have a large percent of people who would keep it. It is a culture thing.
id give it back. black suits, etc. if i was offered a reward, though, id take it.
Contrary to what people are inclined to believe the IRS isn't filled with magic over-lords who have access to your personal records.
With the exception of the 10k rule the IRS operates almost entirely on a volunteer basis, if you don't give them the info, they never know. It's when people give them *false* info that they tend to catch on and warrant an audit.
What the FUCK is wrong with people? Emotional bitches , jesus christ. The thought of returning it wouldn't even enter the section in my brain that considers something.
I would like to think that I would have returned it and all. Morals etc.
