Phomiuna Aqueducts Subligar Solo Farming

Not having a linkshell to assist me (migrated to Bismarck from Ifrit- still going solo), and not wanting to deal with /shouting for a farming run, and not wanting to level THF past 50 without my Rap Harness, I developed a wacky idea and gave it a shot. I wanted to throw it out there to see if other people have had any similar experiences.

It is well-known that a decent BST with a charmed slime can solo the fomors down in the Aqueducts, but I wanted to see if it was possible using another job combination.

I geared up my NIN/DNC with a decent, but not amazing, build (focused on Evasion), picked up a few Jack O'Lanterns, Periskos Au Laits, and Hi-Potions, and went down to give it a shot. I built up 300TP on a Big Jaw near the entrance and made my way to the D/E 11/12 spot on the second map (where Eba spawns) and picked a fight with a Fomor Thief (IT), pulling him into one of the hallways off the room where a single Diremite spawns.

It took about 10 minutes and I had to pop a few of those potions when Curing Waltz just wasnt enough, but in the end, I was able to take the thing out. No drop, unfortunately, but it was a huge confidence booster. I spammed the elemental wheel to avoid giving it any more TP than I had to, but still t2t'd him so my parrying could kick in (which it did). Melee hits were landing for 15-20 each, but Ninjitsu was doing as much as 75-80 unresisted (or as little as 4 sometimes >.<) Slow and blind were landing reliably which helped keep my shadows up. Not a difficult fight actually - just needed to stay focused.

This THF shares a spawn with a Fomor Ranger, so when that one popped, I gave it a shot. Much easier fight and also successful - he stood there shooting arrows at me (and missing) while I hit him with the Elemental Wheel. At about 50% he came after me and I just t2t'd him the rest of the way. Ironically, the Virgo Subligar dropped.

Getting a bit cocky at this point, I tried pulling the DRG, thinking I could take out the wyvern quickly and just focus on the main. Big mistake. Very stupid. Didn't last very long.

After reraising and getting prepped, I went around the corner and took on the Fomor DRK. This was probably the toughest of the three fights because its nukes, even as insignificant as Fire or Stone, were enough to strip my shadows reliably. I had to use a few Hi-Potions on this one as well as an Au Lait drink, but I was able to pull it out. Again, not that I needed it, but the Sag. Subligar dropped.

Killed the THF two more times - still no drop. Heading back out again tonight.

Tried the NIN - got it down to about 40% before it took me out. Like the RNG, it stood back and used ranged attacks while I spammed the EW on it until about 50%, at which point it came at me. Between melee hits and Ninjitsu, she was able to take out my shadows faster than I could take out her's. I may go back on NIN/PUP to see if that makes any difference in terms of enfeebles and healing, so we'll see.

Just throwing my experience out there - I'd be curious if anyone has found any other workable combinations (other than BST) to solo these things. Its not feasible to solo the ones that are grouped in parties, but for the groups of individuals that won't link, its definitely possible to solo your own subligar for a handful of jobs and avoid the headaches of huge subligar farming runs.

Level BST. Every 1.5 hrs you can solo a number of fomors aside from RDM & SAM. I've collected every body piece aside from those two by Familiar'ing IT Oil Spills, which I am sure is common practice by now.

BST really makes it all cake. Aside from that, I've heard of a few successful DNC + DNC duos, so maybe solo is possible as well.

Beastmaster really is the way to go, and I'd imagine with the slashed Reward recast timers even an EM slime could hold its own against non-magic using fomor, so you're not bound by your 2-hour being up.

Me and my uncle used to duo these on BRD and NIN. Pretty easy honestly, except for the NINs, which gave us a little trouble. Luckily the drop rate for the NIN is insanely high so we only had to kill 2.
