Verification of Latent on Trainee Equip

Can I get some verification on the level requirement for Trainee Equip? Currently stated as less than lvl 60, making it useless for capped subcrafts. Any evidence to support/refute this? Saw lots of claims, no proof in any of the threads on BG or the discussion pages on otherWiki.

I'm looking for proof that this works only under lvl 60, and not at lvl 60 (ie. capped subcrafts). Having searched and found your post, which in no way answers my question, I made a new thread.

    So test it out yourself?

FFS, is "I did the original testing on the latents, and I never completed my tests so I don't know the answer to your question" so hard to type?

First of all, what makes you think I have the ability to test this? Secondly, if I did have a craft at 60, I wouldn't feel like wasting money testing a claim if it's already been verified. Even moreso, I sure as hell don't want to make a post on BG with my results if someone has already done the test, earning me a "learn2search" or "we already knew this" quip.

As a matter of fact, I do have subcrafts available to test this, and since I now know that the "expert" has absolutely no idea about the cap on Trainee Latents (though I had to deduce this from their useless and rude comments), I will go test it myself. Thanks for nothing but aggravation.

Well I'm glad I tested this myself, because my results completely contradict Linsivi's. My experiment:

    Control Experiment:
    Lvl 51 Leathercraft
Lvl 67 Synth: White Mouton (tea)
    Lvl Difference = 16
    Unable to synth

    Lvl 51 Leathercraft + 1 from Trainee's Needle = 52?
Lvl 67 Synth: White Mouton (tea)
    Lvl Difference = 15?
    Unable to synth

    Lvl 51 Leathercraft + 1 from Image Support = 52
Lvl 67 Synth: White Mouton (tea)
    Lvl Difference = 15
    ABLE to synth

The only reason I did the control was because the Trainee Knife did not work for Green Curry synth with capped Cooking sub, either. Conclusions:

    1. The listed level is correct for this synth.
    2. The latent either:
*Does not work on lvl 51+ skill,
*Does not work on lvl 60+ SYNTHS,
*Does not work to increase the hard min skill cap on synth attempts, or
    3. Linsivi's tests are false.

That's the extent of what i can test directly... my char has all skills 45+ so I can't discern between a skill cap and a synth lvl cap. As I skill up my Leather and Bone towards 60 I'll post anecdotal evidence about success/skill up rates from 6 levels under cap with Trainee, etc.

    Hi,

I was unable to desynth an Antica's pauldron (76) at natural skill 60, with Trainee Hammer equipped and no support on.

I will do more testing with the Bonecraft item when I get around to level BC again.

It's not that my tests are false, you merely came to a more detailed conclusion. My data is accurate. Well except maybe the NQ support thing, but that wouldn't matter in this case because they do not work regardless with same support lol.

Actually, you both tested the same thing (16levels under the cap+just Trainee) and got different results.

As Ambir pointed out, my tests prove that the latent gear does NOT allow you to break the minimum skill cap of 15 levels (at least, not at 51 leathercraft). So either your results are erroneous, or the latent becomes inactive somewhere between lvl 43 and lvl 51 skill.

Please, someone with higher bonecraft test this as well. Someone with 60 cap bonecraft should be able to synth a level 76 item http://ffxi.somepage.com/itemdb/1257. Then if a level 80ish could test this, it would be greatly appreciated.
I specifically asked someone to test the higher level stuff. My results were not erroneous.

or the latent becomes inactive somewhere between lvl 43 and lvl 51 skill.
Probably. 50 would be a good start I suppose, I really need time to level my not used subs to 60 >.>

Interview states that effect is only active under lvl 40. Puts that debate to rest.

Now the rest of the world thinks either:

Works with skill less than 40
    or

Works with skill less than 40 with no synthesis support
    or

Works with skill less than 60 with no synthesis support
I know it's not the third one, but do we know FOR FACT which of the first two it is?
