Sooo my roommate works at the humane society. She's getting in a couple of kittens today that have been in a foster home. From what I know both seem to have pretty good personalities and are pretty affectionate. The orange one apparently purrrs a ton. I just need to decide which to get. Semi-large photos:

I was on the way to see my bf today when the dozy bus driver didn't hear the bell and also didn't see me standing there waiting to alight, so went past my stop. However, on the way back I got to see a gorgeous stripey ginger-and-white kitty whose name is quite simply Ginger (her owner was outside at the time). Much purring and headbutting on her part <3

It's already a zoo but fortunately there's enough space to keep all the animals separated until we can do introductions. I ended up getting the gray cat. I planned to name him Mr. Bad, only it turns out Mr. Bad is a girl. Now I have to come up with a female name.

I'm a sucker for black cats, so I got two sisters. Think I'm going to get them the same color collar to keep confusing everyone. Kinda fun being the only person that instantly recognizes which one is which, particularly because they're polar opposites personality wise.

Luna is the loner that only lets me pick her up, pet her, etc. She doesn't hiss or scratch or anything, she just slinks like 5ft away and gives the "don't even try it," look. They've always been fucking perfect as far as never using claws/biting on people, even when playing. Can barely hear her purr even when she's roaring. Poppy on the other hand, she's all "HEY HEY LOVE ME HEY YOU HEY HEY," with anyone and everyone. She also has the loudest g'damn purr I've ever heard. I'll try to get vid of it later.

I actually named her Arya since she got away with pretending to be a boy for a while. I don't know if she was just so damn fuzzy they couldn't tell or what until they shaved her tummy at the humane society. She's adjusting pretty quickly. She hid under my bed pretty much all of yesterday evening, and once I went to sleep, she came out and played on top of me with my down comforter till like 3am. She must have stopped after that b/c when I woke up at 6am she was just sitting on the pillow next to my head. When she realized I was awake she got up in my face and started grooming me.

is it normal for 8 week old kittens to have separation anxiety? Arya flips out whenever I leave, and when I come back she greets me like she hasn't seen me in years. I let her go to the bathroom with me thinking she'd want to explore while I did my business, and she just cried and tried to climb up into my lap. While I was washing my hands she climbed up my pants to my shoulder. (She always wants to be in my lap or laying on my boobs if she's not playing)

She might've been separated from her mother too soon. My cat was/is like that. She's very attached to me, always has to be lying across my lap or near me, follows me into the bathroom or screams at me outside the door until i let her in. Your earlier post about the kitten licking you leads me to believe this is the case. Basically, you're mother in the cats eyes, (as in, maternal mother). The kitten will calm down a bit as she gets older, but the licking/needing to be near you never goes away. Try to leave some dirty clothes in a pile somewhere where the kitten can curl up in them when you leave, it should ease the panic of you leaving. I have to do the same with my cat.

kitten separation anxiety? lol try orphaned raccoon kit separation anxiety. they freak right the fuck out when you leave them alone. not really a pet though, so dunno if counts in thread?

was abandoned, had a really bad eye infection (was caked shut w/ dried pus) and really underweight (256 grams at 5ish weeks, so roughly half what it should weigh). got her to the vet, wormed, on 2 rounds of antibiotics. dropped to 226 grams from the deworming/antibiotics liquid poo, but doing well now, put on 5 grams in 24 hours. critter is a trip.

and yes we know you can't really keep them; will be rehabbing and releasing.

Most vets would notify that shit to Wildlife in seconds around here. Someone tried helping a mountain lion cub injured from a driver and they called and snatched that shit so quick (even though the owner wasn't going to keep it).
