I adopted my rabbit, she was 2 years old when we got her -- really convenient to have her already spayed and past the teething stage She is now 7. We really wanted two but there were only single adoptions available at the time. At one point we "rescued" what we thought was a male rabbit from my husband's niece, but after 4 months and a move the two rabbits never got along. Our first rabbit would pee in front of his cage, brawl with him and was very upset. Turned out he was really a she... which explained why our first was so grumpy
Ended up giving him away to a coworker, where she is probably much happier. This is after spending a couple hundred dollars on it because the niece left for school and her mom was trying to feed it hamster food -- we had to give it meds and swipe its bottom twice a day for over a month. Was a super sweet rabbit too, loved being snuggled and picked up. Sometimes I feel like maybe I could have done more to help them get a long and feel guilty, but I suppose better to get rid of the cute new rabbit than the bratty old one.
