Really Tristam if you are trying to convince me of something you are doing a really poor job. You can't call my analogy deeply flawed and then use the same analogy. In both examples we are on a collision course for a major change and humans have effected when and how that change happens. IE grabbing the wheel.
Edit: Reading back on the papers you have posted as well as others it seems that there are much shorter time scale fluctuations in temperature that you are seemingly ignoring that are natural fluctuations. The global climate temperature averages have not even reached the levels they were right before the industrial revolution. And even in the midst of this great warming trend there are even smaller fluctuations up and down. I just think that you are oversimplifying the idea of global warming. It does not seem like you care about it on a scientific level in the interest of understanding how our world works you just want to yell out global warming and be done with it.
