Music Consolidation
Is there an easy way to consolidate a bunch of music scattered on one's computer into a single directory? Say, on iTunes? This is on Vista. Or rather, my friend wants to combine her subdirectories into their respective overhead directory, so doing away with all the album folders and leaving just the artist folders with the music files in them. So if she has the option to drop down Tool (artist) and view Undertow, she wants JUST the Tool folder there with the songs inside it (no album names). She's trying to consolidate all her music because her iTunes fucked up and scattered all her music everywhere (and deleted her playlists). Now she's trying to drag and drop all the out-of-place folders into iTunes, but the ones she has the option to drop down won't allow her to transfer the songs. If you need any more clarification let me know, I'm just not sure I can come up with ways to do what she wants to have done.

Windows Media Player can do this without having to delete, merge, combine folders/directories. In WMP you can just click on the artist name, album name, year, genre, etc, and it will show all the songs with the same criteria.

Just turn off the "manage my music" option in iTunes, then it won't move it all over the place.
