    Castlevania Games

Probably the best games that'll suit your needs. They've got strong RPG elements, good action and exploration. Incredibly fun to play.

You might want to avoid Ecclesia, though. Great game, but quite difficult and can get frustrating at times.

    Golden Sun:

Better than FF's, in my opinion. It's got a solid story and very good gameplay.

    Chrono Trigger

A RPG legend, but if you've played the original before it may be less interesting for you.

How well did Disgaea port to DS? If it is fine, that is a nice long game.

Not really long, but Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker is fun.

Phoenix Wright, without a doubt. Depending on how well you pick it up you could finish one or two of them without a guide. They take some innovative thinking so I wouldn't say you'll beat them fast, it basically revolves around how well you pick up the ideas. Very fun games though, and definitely if you wear a headset and get into the game you'll find the time flies by.

Ouendan/EBA killed a fuckton of time for me on the train every day to work.

Advance Wars needs some more luvin'.

That and the Castlevania series (first being my fav, albeit it's the shortest of the three).

Circle of the Moon is the shortest, but I'd say it has superior replay value to the others by far with all the different modes. I thought they would be a bunch of filler to make the game last longer, but once I finished it I tried them out and they really are fun. Magician mode is my favorite, definitely a blast, although it can get insanely difficult at some points since your damage dealing capabilities are rather low.

Beating Adremalech on Thief mode with no potions is still one of my ultimate all-time videogame accomplishments.

FFTA2 is the most time killing game the DS has to offer. So much shit piled into that game.

First FF tactics advanced was a fantastic game. Judge rules are annoying at times but its a minor flaw in a fun game. Really enjoyed it. Castlevania as said before, or Any of the Legend of Zelda's you can find. Can't really go wrong with those.

    Ouendan series, EBA, Puyo Puyo

Though there is a good chance you'd throw your DS out of frustration, or just rape its touchscreen

My touchscreen has white/green spots whenever the screen goes black because I've raped the touch screen so much from Elite Beat Agents. I don't reccomend Elite Beat Agents/the Ouendan games in the vehicle because it's hard to play when the vehicle is shaking even a slight bit.

    It adds to the difficulty.

I just set my EBA/ouendan game to autospin now, because spinning shit just raaaaaapes the touchscreen.

Also recommending Ketsui if you're into danmaku games, though it's just a long ass boss rush.

I think it'd just make me rage. In EBA/Ouendan, you get punished so bad just for missing once. I can't recall how many times I raged during Jumping Jack Flash on the hardest difficulties after like a 300+ combo.

FFTA2 is very long and addicting. Disgaea DS recently came out and was $20 at GameStop last I checked and is supposedly the best version of it. Uhh FFIV is good too. The Ace Attorney series are one of my favorites series and it is very long and addicting if you get the whole series.

You get Plenair, Adell, Rozy, Zetta, to join your party instead just being an encounter at the price of losing most of the voice acting pretty much all the OST since it's toned down a lot compared to its PS2 counterpart.

It's not THAT bad of a loss, but I can't really enjoy the game with the DS' version of the Ode to Laharl on the castle.

Also, Plenair is a reskinned Ninja, with Usagi drop which is a reskinned Prinny Raid. Adell/Rozy/Zetta is considered a monster type. Zetta has like 180% stat growth though, which pretty much shit all over Thursday.
