Why not ask for Great Axe skill while you're at it?
Like I said, I was gonna make a stupid argument since you did.I won't be changing my tune, you're hoping for too much and it just won't happen the way you're talking about. I posted my idea, you're just into your own world on why you think they will get a Skill boost. Mine was simple, and makes alot more sense-- another Tier of Enspells being added. It increases sword damage, while maintaining it's B~ skill cap. There might be a little more added, but not much, and more than likely not in the way of a skill raise.
And you should seriously http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/images/icons/icon2.gif.
Why is it that people that insist that RDM "needs" melee skill never mention enfeebles in their list of "boring" requirements? It just makes me think they are just bad players that want to play "their way" since they "pay their monthly fee".
Everyone else is just waiting for the answer to one question... why? Why does RDM need to be more versatile? Why does it need to melee? Why does it need to be changed?
RDM is already far more versatile than many other jobs in the game. DD are a dime a dozen and pretty much all can be used interchangeably. RDM actually has a pretty unique role in the game, if they are played well and properly. You think RDM is boring? Try meriting on WHM...
I think you just need to either use your RDM properly, learn how to play RDM properly, or do something besides merit parties.
I'm not sure that I understand your question. You are saying that if SE make a frontline adjustment to RDM, it's going to "change" the job? That means for you RDM should not melee or you mean that RDM melee is ok than it is? Giving frontline adjustment to RDM will "destroy" the game balance? I think you exagerate a little bit.
And I'm not saying because "me" I'm bored that RDM need to be changed, I said everyjob need something new time to time, I think SE did a lot so far for the backline part.
RDM should also get COR's dice role since real men duel with Children's trading cards
For the most part, they really aren't worth mentioning. In terms of level progression, NIN is about as reliable and used for hate, not to mention possessing various second tier spells of their own whereas RDM had to wait years for merits that really should've been level progressed given the laughable (Blind II) or questionable (Paralyze II) results of some. There's also the fact BRD gets a much more potent Slow, really only needing the skill to land it (And the ability to beef it up to 6m duration) whereas RDMs need to wiggle MND in, too. Who enfeebles on Colibri? A BRD/WHM's Dia is just as potent as the RDM's. Come endgame, you have mobs that either resist outright, builds resistance, or require Elemental Seal. In which case the WHMs or BLMs you have around can contribute in rotations with tanks only noticing the Slow is actually off.
If SE really wanted to run with RDM being an enfeebler, they'd have a lot more enfeebles at their disposal. Hell, the same could be said of them being an enhancer (of themselves or the party). People only talk about Haste/Refresh/Cure because that's what people generally seek. A good RDM should be enfeebling, anyway, but I'm not at all surprised when I wind up in a pick-up and they don't.
The main issue is pushing RDM further to the back betrays SE's wishes for the job. Whatever melee update comes, the RDMs who enjoy things now can continue to play as they have been, with the people who would rather them play that way. For those looking for that change, they'll finally have a chance after years of clamoring (I say this with skepticism since years of cookie cutter-ism is hard to break with minimal adjustments). Wasted update? Definite matter of opinion, and we presently lack the integral evidence to decide either way (The update itself).
