So they plan to give WHM a small melee bump for solo'ing and stuff ait easier. Goddamn you people read to much into this.

i didn't read the thread but if they want mages to melee, they have to make grips that have the same effects as staves. elemental staves are the only thing holding mages back from meleeing.
It's an idea I've seen paraded around a bit(and thrown about myself), but maybe it's high time S-E introduce new TP gain methods. So far, unless you're SAM, TP only comes from giving or receiving damage. TP modes set to award jobs for Enfeebles landed, or nukes landed, or HP/MP healed, attacks evaded... etc.
Think Overdrive Modes from FFX, which is basically what I'm getting at.
i was thinking that they'd do this thru the introduction of new buff spells...
like.. if we pull from classic FF, heres a couple of examples i made up
Temper
Red Mage 38 / White Mage 45
Increases your attack power (10%) and melee accuracy (5%)

Both self target and they won't stack... wouldn't be too broken rite?
actually they could make the first spell at Lv37 too so that mage jobs could sub /RDM for cure versatility but also a slight damage boost if they wanted.. as long as it wont work with Accession.
=( You just stole the storyline for dynamis, damnit. Which leads me to believe all whitemages will require Mjollnir to pull it off, hell Ferrorous Coffin the freelance is a Galka WHM and the original Mjollnir holder, it all comes together. Raogrimm was the Galka's best sword fighter, but he sure loved peace with the beastmen, almost to a friendly degree of a healer. Everything about the Galka has shown the signs of what is to come.
On another note, I'd love to see whitemages get to or try to tank some things, even as they are, just for fun even if its not as efficient as a paladin, not really taking melee hits, but MDB tanking or something couldn't be so bad, it'd provide a much safer mindset of 'I can hold my own if I try' when shit comes tearing after you (re: Tyche vs. Vrtra I think it was?), there's been instances of whitemages doing it at Tiamat as well(barfira emnity testing), and paladins on these mobs are, pretty much their own co-op healers for hate, the whitemages support roll falls a little lower in the multiple (2-3) pld/nin tanking system.
I doubt anyone saying they'd get a DNC-like samba enhancement about redmage or whitemage is thinking about the idea that enspells are limited to one buff. I think Wafik summed up that idea best in the other thread. >_>;
Broken? nah... just give yourself 10% more acc when you only have 19 less skill than some DD at the expense of 78MP... totally fair.
rdm sword: 19 less skill than axe wars, dagger thf, sword blus, rangers in general, not to mention thats a hgiher skill than any melee pup has, and only 6 less than dnc dagger
whm club: equal skill to dnc dagger again higher than any pup weapon and only 13 off axe wars, dagger thfs, and sword blus and rngs
On another note if SE added tp bonuses for landing spells it would prolly be stupidly low, and completely worthless. but hey anything is possible.

P.S. i always had yuna's overdrive set on Healer, or Comrade (when an ally takes dmg, or when you heal someone's HP) overdrive filled up pretty fast.
If this idea gets moved into FFXI though WHMs would set healer mode obviously >.>, and RDMs would set tactician mode (gain tp for enfeebles u land on the mob o.0).
