    Internet dying/lagging every night

Every night at about 10pm or later, typically around 11 or 12, my internet gets really shitty.

It dc's me from wow, my MS in wow starts at 200ish and ends up 400-500... websites dont load.

I use a Linksys WRT160N, and have no idea what the problem is. I changed my encryption tonight, but I still can't log back into wow (been off for an hour now cant get back in).

Is this ISP related? Should I call my ISP? Is there any checks or anything I can do at all?

Also, this PC is pretty new, and when I set up everything I somehow had a logfile saved by linksys of my setup at the time, I'm wondering how to access this and/or make a new logfile and such.

This is the notepad made by linksys, any Idea how to access this?

Try check for some question below:

    1. Is there anyone using p2p program? like torrent.
    2. Did you do any port forwarding?
    3. Try to ping your router, and any website. And see what is the respond rate for this. 30-50ms for most of the website, and usually 1ms or less for router with wire, wireless might a little higher.
    ping 192.168.1.1 /t for example.
    4. when you have this problem again, try ping your isp gateway too.

Usually it might be the program number 1. But sometimes it might due to your modem is dying, then it will be program number 4.

    How long does it last?

I've had cable internet that had a reset or something every night around the same time.

If it's lasting for a while, you may have something like someone near you turning on torrents when they go to bed.

    1. Nope, only person that has access to network that could is sister, and she doesn't.
    2. I havent done any recently I don't think... but I could be wrong, I don't remember doing any.
    3. Router is <1ms avg 0ms, Websites are 14-100ms typically. Although, it's having problems pinging some, lots of Lost when I do certain sites - are they just not letting me from doing it? Lots of timeouts. Google.com was 104ms, that's the highest.

Do you have any virus, or any other large process hoggers starting at that time?
Are you hard wired, or on wireless, are you on (A)DSL, cable, fibre? Someone might be leeching your router if it's wireless, and depending on what ISP you have, your bandwidth might be getting zapped because of a neighbor.

It could also be WoW- I've had a problem recently where, after 5-6CST, everytime I go into a main city, it crashes my router. It resets, and I get internet access back in a few minutes, but its highly annoying :C Dalaran, Org, UC, etc.. are you in the same types of areas each times it happens? May want to check out WoW tech forums- not sure why being in an area in WoW would crash my entire router, but apparently a ton of people have that issue, so, /shrug.

Not sure if you can or not, but next time this happens, try hard resetting router + modem, may help

Nope. Hard wired, router goes into my pc, then out to everyone elses. I was also thinking of my bandwith getting zapped, but I wouldn't see why... and around the same time... I'm cable btw.

It's not cities or anything in wow, like 2 nights ago everything was fucking great. 1130, having fun, doing heroics back to back. After one ends, decide to go to HOL, as soon as I enter, done for the night. Last night, about 6 of guildies in IF talking and shit, gambling a little on the coin flip crap - after about an hour of this, dc and cant get back in for the night. Sometimes internet gets all shitty as well, sometimes it's just wow.

Have you tried updating to the latest firmware for your router? I found a similar thread on your router but it's not exactly the same problem you're having, the thread contains random disconnect issues: Problems with WRT160N - Wireless Routers - Linksys Community Forums

In all honesty, this router has been absolute heaven since I purchased it. The older one I had died frequently, had to unplug it all the time and just had alot of issues. This one rarely has any, and it's just annoying me that this happens every night around the same time.

Due to encryption, It's gotta be either my ISP, or weather related.... it's been cold... and wet... zomg. If this is a hardware issue I'm gonna be disappointed cause I really liked this equipment before hand and I'd probably purchase the same products lol.

If it happens again tonight, and ISP claims it's not them, then I'll probably reflash and such and try firmwares again... this is retarded.
