Because of cursed pieces that are relevant to jobs I have and want to level up... and people always need alchemy synths. I don't know, that could be said about other crafts, but I can say I'm that guy who can make linkshell/party members stuff on-the-go.

Alchemy was my first craft. I started it back in the day when oil/prism stacks were 50k a pop and I was but a noob who saw that as a cashcow.

Leathercraft was my second and I leveled that to make/sign my own pair of dusk gloves +1.

Bonecraft I did for the hq heca for my thief.

Leathercraft to 100 due to helping others out as well as letting me stay on the farming field a while longer.

Has anyone done smithing lately 0-100? I've been somewhat considering it on a mule that already has GS at 60 as a sub. I haven't looked at any paths yet, so just looking for some general thoughts.

All I can say (doing it for a sub) is it looks like the iron stretch (like 13-20) will cost you about 200k, give or take.

That sucks for a low level craft. Even Gold didn't cost me that much :/

I'm in the last legs of leveling cooking along side fishing. Fishing because it's a steady way to make money from several difference sources, and Cooking for two reasons: 1. It will enhance the money I can get from fishing as both a space and profit increase, and 2. I can use it and my jeuno mules to make loads of steady cash, it isn't selling a cursed -1 item and getting 2.5m in my dbox, but it's also zero risk money, I don't depend on HQs to make my dough.

Some crafts depend on the luck of the draw to HQ and win big, some crafts work off of the real life low profit high volume business model, where you use numbers to make money. I went with slow and steady wins the race.

Fishing+cooking(delvled cooking for wood though as i did E rod quest) delvling wood now(got my E rod lol) to take up leather.

Fishing i just found fun. As well as the hold cant go wrong Skilling a craft and making gil at the same time.

As for why leather as my next pick, I am looking to make some dusk+1 for myself in time. With the money i make everyday fishing, to skill a 2nd craft to 100 wont be that bad. Avg 300k+ a day. And when a person doing the E rod quest roles around 500k+ a day.

just seemed like a nice way to go.

I've been leveling Smithing, currently at 99.0+3. Not that recent, but as u may guess, there are just gaps that are a HUGE pain in the ass, and money loss, even with my spirit of farming/mining, break even on synths, some are just loss sadly.

Some guides in wiki have the general ideia, but as usual, check prices in ur server. For example, mining in MZ for troll bronze ingots (desynth from Pauldrons and Vambraces) for easy skill ups (Ingots then Sheets) and u can get the occasional Khroma ore and Adaman as well.
    Just an example.

Having friends/mules with other crafts @ 100 would help out too, like, for example, Darksteel Bolt Heads, u craft them for skill ups, then ask a friend to make them into bolts, and sell, if u dont get profit, at least u would break even.

Not that hard, if u take ur time, dont rush.

(obviously, some other level are kick-ass and will net u alot of gil)
