    KSNM30:ODS PLD/RDM non-relic solo?

First off, I realize this has been discussed previously but the thread has since died w/o a definitive answer. I've yet to see any confirmation of someone doing this without Aegis/Excal so out of pure curiosity now I want to see if I can do it. If anyone has attempted this since the last thread ended (Nov 07?) feel free to post any useful info.

    Options for TP:
    - Sleep 300% TP before going in and open with SW
    - Sleep 100% TP and just open with Vorpal
    - Atonement a possibility after a certain point of a scorp's health?

    Gear:
    Joyeuse | Koenig | NA | Fenrir's Stone
    Koenig | Parade/Shield | Loq. | Ethereal
    Koenig | Homam | Ulthalam's/Herc | Jelly
    Boxer's | Swift | Homam/Ice Trousers | AF+1

Does anyone know how long Ice Trousers enchantment lasts. People said they used 2 pair, so I'm assuming it's less than 5 min? Everything else about the fight seems pretty straight forward.

Any comments or suggestions are appreciated. I'll post here with any positive results once I make the attempt.

    Trial run #1:

Went a lot better than I first expected. Although it would have been nice...can't always expect to win on a first attempt of anything. With the experience I have now, I'm confident I can win this BC. Here's a few details of how it went:

Slept to 100% TP, Pro4, Taco, rested to full > Entered.
Periskos, Yagudo, Stoneskin, Phalanx, Aquaveil, Enaero, Ice Spikes, Reprisal > Engaged > Diaga
Sentinel, Rampart > Vorpal Blade (WS gear) > i.wing | 2hr (not sure order, but irrelevant) > Atonement

...here is where I struggled to reapply SS and in my futility I lost too much HP, cured what I could, but eventually died. Raised up, and rested to full with max mp gear.

Reapplied buffs, engaged, Diaga > Sentinel
Here I was able to start reapplying SS before it wore off, which made life much easier. Now the scorps had a build up of TP which also made life easier, believe it or not.
From here I continued to reapply buffs, Reprisal when timer was up, as well as Sentinel, and started to tack away at the scorps one by one. I was able to do this successfully all the way down to 2 scorps before I timed out. All in all, was a good learning experience for my first try.

    Mistakes

Managing Ice Trousers and Stoneskin before I wiped. It's harder than you think when you have 5-6 scorps on your ass.
After that I'd say it was keeping up with yag drinks, then not watching my reprisal timer. I had some time where Enaero wasn't up, but looking back, it wouldn't have played a factor for this particular run; although to be successful I'll probably need to make sure it's up as much as possible.

Good run, going to try again tomorrow.

    Run #2 (Win)

Went much smoother this time. Applied the same strat from last run (post-wipe) and successfully killed all 6 scorps. I used Sentinel almost always when it was up, Chivalry once towards the end. If I had Chivalry capped, I probably could have gone without a Vile(+1).

    Items/Meds used:
    Tavnazian Taco x1
    Yagudo Drink x6
    Periskos au Lait x2
    Vile Elixir
    Vile Elixir +1
    Icarus Wing
    Sleeping Potion x4
    Ice Trousers x2

Forgot about those. I'll have to find a pair and test them out. Thanks for the info.

youll need two ice trousers to have ice spikes up 24/7. the wonderful thing about ice trousers is two fold. First is that they are just like the spell in that every hit you recieve will send off a spike. the second benifit is that you do not need to keep them equiped; you can remove them for a better peice of gear and retain the ice spike effect.

from what i know about these new peices is that they are not 100%. and you will definately need to keep them on to have the chance of sending off an ice spike.

Been testing Ice Shield, but I would assume Gothic set works in a similar manner.
Shield Blocks have priority over "Physical Damage: Ice Spikes effect" stat on gear, while regular Ice Spikes (from spell or Ice Trousers, for example) will proc every hit.

It's very noticiable if you aggro two different mobs and have one stand in front of you while the other one behind; the first mob won't be hit from spikes nearly as much as the latter.

I tried to trio this with me as PLD/RDM and a DRG/Mage + RDM for support...I don't have an etherreal, but otherwise I have pretty comparable gear, and I'll be honest that I don't think that I could pull it off solo, even with the extra help of Ice Spikes. The damage just came a little bit faster than I could handle, if it wasn't for the extra support we probably would have wiped...we did wipe the 2nd run but that was due to a mistake.

I think the real key is the ethereal earring though. It's basically the only way you are going to recover your mp during the fight, outside of ethers or yagudo drinks. Also I think merits are critical in this fight; full sentinel and full chivalry could make or break this fight. I think this fight is possible w/o relics, but there is really no room for mistakes because the damage comes at you so fast.

This fight is possible w/o relics. Ive done it as joy/aegis, and based on my time/mp consumption, could have easily done it with keonig. Ethereal is a must however as mentioned for the extra 1-2 mp you get back per hit per mob.

Bring 6-7 Yags, 3 Ice spike pants, keep phalanx up, and get max chiv/sentinal.

Start off with Aquaveil/SS/phalanx/enspell. Dont worry about sleeping TP, you will build it fast enough. Open fight with diaga to get hate on all the mobs then pop sentinal/rampart and start building hate. Atonement will cap out pretty quickly and you wil be fed TP fast. The fight gets easier as it goes on since more scorps are dead, so the real pressure is staying alive for the first 5 min. Dont be afraid to pop chiv early (so it will be ready at the end).

Having a Lt. cape is very nice for extra insurance.

If you want to test your ability, go down to one of the beastmen strongholds and link 4-5 EMs and practice holding them all at once.

Neo pretty much nailed what I plan to do. One key though is to make sure I keep all scorps in front of me. I'd rather not put anything to chance so I'm going to sleep for at least 100% (why not, right?), open up with a vorpal with WS gear, then wing and atonement from there on. I'm bringing 6 yag, 2 periskos, and one vile+1. If I'm successful with a degree of ease, I'll try it again with less and less until I run out of seals or hit my limit.

There's a thread in the RDM section of lolAllah atm with some pretty decent info. It's a RDM/BLU thread, but it's the same basic supertanking idea.

I wouldnt bother with SS, but thats up to you.

Also, dont pop sentinel then invince. Ride out the damage reduction for sentinal till it is off, then do invince. Maximize the time you have taking less damage.

I only did SS every 4 min and 10 seconds when sentinel was back up. Did you try and keep it up the entire time?

I can see trying to recast Stoneskin (and getting interrupted constantly) becoming a problem because you could be doing damage instead.

That's what I was about to say. Trying to keep stoneskin up will hurt your damage output.

Yeah, I realized that before the wipe. Although afterwards when the scorps were immobile/unable to act, I would put it back up. Aside from those times and Sentinel, I rode out the dmg. And no I didn't waste 2hr. I used it after Sentinel was done. The wipe caused me to lose ~6-7 min which could have been what I needed to finish off the last 2.

I've solo'd it w/o any Relics. Joy/Koenig. I did it before Atonement and used Vorpal Blade, I would assume Atonement would make this alot quicker now. With Diaga>Sentinel>Rampart you will have some major hate on the scorps right off the bat and with all the curing to keep yourself up, your hate will jump quickly.

Nothing really new to add from what Neo said. Don't focus on Stoneskin too much, you want to dish out damage as fast as possible at the start and kill scorps off as quickly as you can. Once you get 2 scorps down it gets alot easier to manage the damage and your casting.

Someone mentioned it in the COR solo thread, but it's a good idea, you could also possibly grab FoV Regen/Refresh in Gusta and bring it in.

Not 100% sure, I only did it a few times and it was a bit ago. (lost 2x, won 2x)

I took about 10 Yag, think I used 5-6 or so a run.
Took a Vile+1 each time, only used it once on a win and once on a loss.
    2 pair of Ice Trousers.
    1 Taco per run.
1 IW per run. Used it at the start.

    Think that was about it.

Just finished 2nd attempt and won. Went very smoothly...not really sure how I managed to wipe so early on the first attempt. I'll update the OP with the info and SS shortly.
