Well no shit, this "excuse" (reason?) is used in most if not all of Microsoft's Security Patches. It's been so overused I barely take heed of it at all. If anyone bothers clicking "more details" each time they update Windows they will see that this is most commonly the excuse.

You'd be surprised, there's still a bunch of people who insist that IE is just as safe as FF, and that all the people who use FF are just stupid fanboys. They usually come out of hiding when IE-bashing starts up, so I imagine it won't be long before there's a few posting in this thread.

i've been using firefox since i was like 13 years old. i haven't seen an open ie in over a year probably... fuck ie is so gross and doesn't have the look and feel firefox does. i don't even care about security. look at my most visited tab on firefox and there's 3 websites on it, and those are the only ones i go on usually.

25% of visitors to bg are IE users. it's a week old exploit but functioning code was recently released. it hit news not b/c of the attack, but b/c of some claptrap about suggesting people switch to an alternative browser. honestly, if users haven't switched by now or upgraded their flash players, there's no helping them and these articles are meaningless.

When will people realize that the entire IE browser is a huge flaw in itself? Firefox's resourceful add-ons, additional built-in features, better security design, why would anyone use IE? I even use firefox at work, where traditionally caters only to IE. I made request to our IT department about installing firefox on my workstation, they had no problem with it at all, perhaps knowing that it is much more secure compared to IE. Cue the pic "a good friend won't let friends use IE."

i work in IT and i require that all my users run firefox. even still, since it's nigh impossible to disable IE, i still catch people using IE all the time.

Exactly what I was going to post. I have been in those "Fuck you FF lovers, IE is VERY secure" e-fights a time or two. It is an inevitability that some will pop up here calling bullshit on this story.

I think it was Sonomaa that had the funny story about someone at work giving his shit about using a "faulty" browser like Firefox over Internet Explorer. Epic story. Ban cat should totally email this story to said IT person.

i find these post so intresting IE Vs Firefox Personily i use both and both on my Home Pc's And Never had a problem with either One!

i know about 5people on my server who use'd firefox and got hack'd, its made by man so man can Break it simple as that No matter what!

They Both Hackable and both have flaws that simple nothing is perfect, I Agree firefox looks better, But thats about it.. in my opion

Edit: i also find that IE upload's page's faster than Firefox, and Most hacks arnt cause'd bc of the IE or Firefox, but other plug in's

seriously, learn how technology works, actually... learn how loading webpages work. Then come back and try to argue that IE is more secure than firefox.

Currently doing contract work for a company that deals with both US military and NASA and there's not a trace of IE on their computers. All Firefox.

Then again, it's pretty rare that they have an outside connection...

Look, if people are stupid enough to download installers from some less than scurpulous websites and run them, not even firefox can prevent it from happening. However, firefox does have the function that warns a user when he or she access a suspicious website that has been reported for past abuses. On the fundamental design level, firefox is more secure and has less security flaws in general. FF also comes with noscript, adblock, and a wide array of security enhancements that make cross-site script attack and browser hijacks very difficult. On the other hand, in no way, shape or form will I even recommend IE to anyone for any reason.

You should cite what you said about IE being the faster browser when comes to upload.
