I think Bahamut has had a few LSes come over.
In regards to breaking the server, I don't really care... but the asshole in me wants to see the server break for the <9000 drama that comes out of it.
Generally HNMLSes that transfer as a group to another server are going to be looked down upon, we've obviously been on the looking down side on Odin. I don't think any established LS really wants to transfer elsewhere as a whole because of the huge stigma that would be attached.
In addition, as has been stated... Odin's HNM scene is really not terribly drama filled. We all have a lot of friends in other shells, and a number of events are done cross-shells. We also have some very successful "2nd tier" shells.. basically the ones that do everything but HNM/wyrms etc., and all these LSes kinda make up the hodgepodge of people that populate many of our Dynamis and Limbus and Einherjar and Salvage shells, etc.
I don't know why our community on Odin really ended up the way it did, compare to other servers, but it just feels like it'd be a harder place to leave than other servers. Maybe.![]()
Wow, really? Please, link me to where SE warned people not to migrate to Odin. Oh wait, they never did. All they did was open free emigration because the population was getting high, no where did they mention that they no longer want people transferring there, nor did they ever report to us how the first emigration went. Obviously at this point not enough people chose to move, and they've finally decided to take action.
I'm stupid for using a service SE has offered to play with some friends on a different server? Yeah, okay.
P.S. My points earlier are valid. When was the last time some of you people did a /sea all throughout the day? The only time this server is overpopulated is during JP time. Forcing to transfer the recent transferees wont do anything at all to help reduce congestion. The only reason you all choose to attack them is because you feel like that they're some sort of invaders. Well guess what, this isn't 2004 anymore. Server transfers have been here for a while, get used to it.
Anyway, as I said, particularly targeting one group of people (unless they choose to emigrate a huge chunk of the Japanese, which they wont do) for forced transfers will not help alleviate the congestion problem. If SE does go down that path, they'll once again be trying something else within a month. Honestly, I only see two possible ways of dealing with the congestion: Either they randomly choose people to force transfer, or they split the server in two. (Edit: Or they could offer some kind of incentive to emigrate, but I don't really see them doing that.)
I seem to recall numerous announcements saying Odin esp, and Bahamut were reaching overcrowding levels, hence the reasons for offering free emigration in the first place.
I mean, it's common sense, isn't it? If they're trying to get people to *leave*... doesn't that say to you that there is a reason to that? That they'd rather people not continue to transfer? And yet people still did.
Which brought us to where we are now, and long standing Odin members can't even create storage mules on their same accounts.
Each and every single person just kept thinking one more wouldn't hurt, but did you really think you were the only one? Every twit and asshole and whatever wants to come here where they can kinda get buried in the masses.
But yeah, there was also this:
http://www.bluegartr.com/forum/ffxi-...14-2008-a.html
"To avoid these very issues, a free World Transfer was offered to the inhabitants of Odin. While many players accepted this offer, the situation of overpopulation remains relatively severe.
With quality of service first and foremost in mind, the development and management teams are devising solutions to this problem on Odin and other Worlds. Removal from the list of destinations for a World Transfer or the list of Worlds available on the character creation screen, as well as continuing to provide free World Transfer services, are some of the ideas being considered for overpopulated Worlds.
We hope that our players will also take these factors into consideration when utilizing the World Transfer Service or choosing a world for their new character.
Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation."
They left the burden on us, the consumers, thinking that most people would do the like, nice thing and not try to ingratiate themselves into our population. But too many people would rather think about themselves over others. Go figure.
Well humans are selfish greedy little fucks even more so on online games so what else do you expect?
In addition to what Ashira pointed out already, there's also these just within the past 60ish days.

All of them say:
You're not stupid for wanting to be with friends, but you are stupid because you transferred here despite all the warnings and only made the problem worse. One more person won't break the server, but 1000 people thinking "one more person won't break the server" will.Originally Posted by SE

3/4 times are NA prime time and we're close to the same number as the JP prime time. Yeah, most of the congestion issues happen Saturday morning when it's about time for a lot of NA players to wake up, JP players to go to bed and for EU players to start hitting their prime, but if you actually paid attention, areas like Nyzul suck at any of the 3 main prime times. That's not just a JP issue.
Some server transfers are good and I have no problem with them. Others don't deserve to play this game. I never thought of any transfers as invaders, but I do take exception to idiotic comments like the ones you're making where you seem to believe you're entitled to stay on this server more so than the guys who started out here. You transferred here despite all the warnings SE gave about the population issue and now your idiocy and ignoring of all the warnings could potentially cost some long standing friendships and circles to be broken. Kudos for wanting to be with your friends and all, but don't come off as this braggart because you snuck onto Odin the day before they closed it off, then act like you belong here more than anyone else does.
I know that everyone likes to think that they are different, but Odin just isn't like your normal server. There is a huge amount of cross pollination between the three major HNM LS's, through Salvage, Limbus, Dynamis, hell even HNM's. Too many people in the HNM's have friends that they aren't going to ditch just because the server is getting too big. In fact, the big three barely even do HNM anymore, anyway.
The reason that whole HNM LS's server switch is usually because they are filled with self-absorbed, self-centered teenagers. Odin, and this is probably why people wanted to swap here in the first place, is overall pretty civilized on the NA side. Even the worst HNM LS is better than some of the crap I see pretty regularly on BG, and they still have their purpose too.
The big three on Odin are generally run by sane people, are respectful of one another and other non-HNM LS's and I highly doubt my attitude is uncommon across the server. Too many people have played for far too long to have to rebuild entire LS's and even more importantly relationships and friendships.
For Julian: Q and Ashi pretty much owned you on the factual and circumstantial evidence here. You are stupid, and you are trying to pass that off onto the people that did nothing wrong. The fact that you can't see any other solution that doesn't involved screwing everyone else on the server too kind of proves the point about you being self-centered and self-absorbed. There are many other solutions which don't involve fucking over the server, you just don't like them because you don't get to blame everyone else for your own stupidity.
One final note, just so you know, many of the people you are fighting with and insulting in this thread are leaders, long-time members and friends with leaders of pretty much all of the major end-game LS's. So, even if you do get to stay, I don't see you going very far...![]()
on a re-read, I noticed we never did enlighten Julian.
Gaea is Poof, Juli.
Not like your choices of friends from Odin rank that much higher, though.
he's not really involved with her he was just on Fairy I believe?
Everybody's coming to Odin to be with Ashira and proudly say they sent a tell to Kaeko. Nobody wants to leave cuz they wanna say they ran through whitegate and saw the awesome radiance of Ninjafox.
Poop on you
So I was curious if closing Odin for new chars affected RMT.

YAY!
So, have any of the Odin restrictions been lifted following the emigration maintenance?
Need mules, badly...
Yeah, it's because of the poor character creation design is my guess. Since you can create a character on any server there is no way to determine if your "main" character is on Odin or not. Thus if they didn't disallow all character creation, then anyone could just make another character on Odin no matter where their "main" character is located.
It's a design flaw, probably caused by not anticipating this problem when it was created.
A lot of problems in this game (inventory size, AH limits, etc.) were caused by short sighted development.
