Hippogryphs are definitely annoying but they can be handled, I've personally seen them a good amount, I've seen the big birds (Roc, Simurgh type) less than the Hippos. We typically have the BRD change to madrigal and prelude the RNG instead of Minuet. I always try to make my party with BRD, COR, and RNG at the very least, slugwinder just absolutely owns those mazes.

hypos are easy as shit why are people bitching about them. The only thing that poses a slight challenge is cockatrices without stona.

Its mostly the THF Evasion, Fantod + Triple Attack can do up to 1500 DMG to any unprepared Tank/DD/ETC, The fact they can use AoE Dispel very frequently which can REMOVES FOOD/Rolls/etc and all around their resistance to Sleep. Conal Terror, Choke Breath (Silence/Paralyze), aren't to friendly either.

If their dispel hits a Roll, thats going to suck hard. Colibri can remove food, but theirs isn't AoE, nor can it remove haste, refresh, Rolls, Songs, etc etc.

They are without a doubt the worst mob in the Bird family rune. Don't get me wrong, they won't ruin a run for any party above 50 unless the party REALLY sucks, and any good group will be able to handle them without many deaths, but they are by no means "Easy", they're an awful mob and suck to get.

Using them as an excuse to write off MMM as an exp venue seems quite foolish to me.
I seem to get "Lucky" and get at least 1 pair of Hippo's every party, and its awful , but truthfully most DD would rather death with Hippos than Attack down.

As stated above though, watched a Galka SAM get hate off the PLD for a split second with Penta and got dropped by a Fantod/Triple Attack, hit him for 580~600 a hit, was hilarious but brutal.

    Yah im doubling.

I gotta ask, is there anyone here who thinks Destroying the "Forcer" reduces the time inside MMM or reduces exp from the maze?

i've been running into a lot of people lately who seem to believe destroying the forcer reduces time and lowers exp.

To be exact, i'll quote one.

    http://i290.photobucket.com/albums/l...0-44-45-28.jpg

and today i was told by a DRG that blowing up the box reduces our time as well.

Wondering if this is a wave of stupid that always comes up when an event becomes popular, or if this is actually true.

i for one believe its as stupid as the "Don't weaponskill this NM for drops" or "Thief gets final hit" crap.

Total BS. My group's mages always break boxes in hopes of getting MP items. I've never once seen time get shortened, and exp is so fucking easy to figure out that I don't know how anyone can think that's even possible.

It's definitely a wave of stupid, I had a couple people get really mad that we destroyed Forcer's, they were hell bent on believing that it nerfs exp.

Guess i'll have to start weeding out the dumbasses when i invite people to MMM exp by asking them about the Forcer.

As stupid as it may sound has it been tested though? Has anyone try doing it without killing forcers? (I mean you would notice the time shortning one i guess)

could be a subtle thing that isn't announced

What testing would you do? The time thing would be extremely obvious as you said. The equation for how exp is calculated is very easy. The only way it could reduce exp would be very obvious, because you would notice a drop in exp from the mobs themselves. It can't take exp from the box, because box exp is 100% dependent on the exp from mobs. The math isn't hard, and it has never once come out any way that wasn't expected in my own experience from several hundred MMM exp runs.

I was thinking that it would be a possible penalty that effected the box only, but in all honesty I don't think it is likely and testing it would be rather annoying.

i didn't bother searching threads but my group discovered you can bring in a 75 to power level your exp maze without a penalty to the exp, just the PL (outside party ofc) will receive 0 xp for no mobs killed.

I think I said this on the last page, make sure also to not let the PL open chest otherwise main party won't get exp

Have the JP figured out a good maze setup for manaburning? Over the past few days, I've seen 3 or 4 different JP BLM Lv60ish shouting for people. They flat out refuse a PUP (which isn't entirely shocking, even though they're pretty awesome in a bird maze). When I tried asking as RDM, I got a sad face with an {Our party's full} response.

I've not seen any BLMs hanging out in Lower Jeuno when we go for our runs, and I typically go every day. Looking over the maze runes again, I'm not sure flans even load given that there's no rune for that family. Maybe a make up of 3 BLM, RDM, COR, and BRD with an elemental theme would produce results?

Looking at Aquans on wiki, it says Sea Monks are a possible family to appear - has anyone seen them on with Tiny Warrior equipped?

Hippogryphs and Rocs can appear among birds with TW equipped so I wanted to know if they can appear with TW + Aquans because Sea Monks would be above and beyond suck for a pre-75 group.

Does anyone have any experience with a maze that drops Lycopodium Sash? Searching didn't return any useful information.

According to Wiki, it drops off of Kerwan. I threw together a maze with Tiny Warrior, Plantoid, Might, L&F, Black Mage, and Stillness which I resonated(not sure if that's required, or what Stillness/Motion even do). Would this work? Any help would be appreciated.

I've never seen a kraken with Aquan and TW, but I've only done about a dozen runs with those runes in place.

Forego Kerwan, go for the Mandragora (TW + Motion) or my personal favorite the Flytrap (TW + Stillness). Kerwan has Sprout Spin and we know how fun that is.

Both will be infinitely easier so long as you deal with sleepga (Soporific + Dream Flower) beforehand. The Mandy will not double attack unless you give it the ability to do so nor will it counter or guard.

    Setup:

    -Tiny Warrior (Wind Resonation)
    -Might
-Warrior (some would put another job here or SM)
    -Stillness or Motion
    -Plantoid
    -Lost and Found

Thanks for the advice ronin. The maze I have setup right now uses BLM (myself and 2 friends manaburn these), but I have the darkness..tiled.. tabula or w/e. What does resonating do exactly? The current one I have has Stillness resonating, would it be better/matter if I resonated Tiny Warrior instead on the other tabula?

Thanks again, this is the first time I've gone about setting a maze up. I never see any mazes up that could possibly drop the sash.

I'm working on making an MMM meripo maze of my own but I'm missing rune 108 >.<

What's the best maze to set up to make a preferable drop? Thanks.
