Is there any kind of guide to starting on MMM effectively? I've done it all of once and it wasn't even my tabula, I don't know that I even have one yet.

This is the guide I wrote for my linkshell, but ya, more details please. What are you goals and how many people are available to assist you?

I can only think of 3 possible goals:
1) XP mazes
2) Get rare items (Koggel etc)
3) Inner completionist wants to get all the runes just for the fun of it
There are also 2 "fail goals", things that MMM sort of tries to do but not very well:
4) Make money
5) Get crafting/fishing skillups
What's it gonna be?![]()
It's partly a desire for solo 75 xp in some fashion other than campaign and Valley of Sorrow FoV. I historically have problems getting merit groups.
I may be barking up the wrong tree looking to MMM but I figured I'd explore the possibility, or at the very least can pursue the rare items/crafting skillups (love crafting for the utility factor of being able to turn crap I get from monsters into something better but always depressing now to look for skillup recipes, there's always a long stretch of 20 levels it seems where every feasible recipe is just throwing money into a black hole).
Crafting mazes in MMM are pretty bad, Id suggest doing it once for fun and then never bothering with it again. The skillups are bad and the game is high on screwing you out of the materials needed to win.
The fishing maze is more productive if you're looking for skillups out of an event.
Thanks for the info. The route descriptions you gave in that post on V06 are a lot more meaningful now that I've been inside once. I only found two papetries and timed out looking for the third. I had one unnecessary death, but I'm pretty confident that I can beat it next time around. I do still have questions though.
I went Whm/Rng for widescan as someone recommended in this thread somewhere. When I started tracking it at the time it was under the bridge. Later on while I was in the center tunnel of the lower area going back towards the bridge I noticed it was coming up behind me. Checked map twice and saw it coming closer. Used Eau de Moblin to get away (good thing too, since Digger was on the stairs while going up), but it made me wonder, can the Terrormonger patrol the entire lower area? Does it go up the stairs?
There was only one V06 tabula on Dupliloq and it had 113 (shortcut) on it. Since I haven't done it before. Is the ladder/rope at the end of the upper NW map the shortcut it adds? EDIT: Nvm, it's stated on wiki.
I hate to say it, but I think for those goals there are better options, namely FoV, and farming -> crafting.
Solo exp is no better in MMM than anywhere else (+ FoV has its other bonuses). Also if anything goes wrong that causes a time delay, then you're pretty much losing most of the exp you went in there for if you can't open that chest within the time limit. You can also take your adventuring fellow in there too, but you're still subject to the normal exp cut..
Your best bet here would be to make your own merit party and become familiar with what level of monsters you can feasibly kill in that 30 mins. I hear a lot of reports of people trying this and loving it if they can complete the maze. However given your response, this may be a big step. At the very least though it's worth a try. Assemble a group (friends preferably while you get used to it), grab the most popular exp maze off Duplidoc, and then go to town.
For the crafting Maze, mobs have low HP, but they still hit relatively hard and you need a solo capable job in there if you plan doing it solo. Trying to complete this maze on your own is also going to seriously hurt your chances of completing it, if it's even do-able solo. There have been no reports of worthwhile drops or quick skill ups either so other than a bit of fun there's no reason to do this. You'll level the craft faster by farming either mats or something to fund it, and then black-holeing it after. As is the nature of crafting, research is the only thing that'll save you gil.
The Terrormonger's patrol area are two of the tunnels (center and furthest away from the jail side) on the lower floor, the area under the bridge on the side of those two tunnels, and it can go up the stairs and into the tunnel there and around out into that little open bit where the group of flans normally hang out (platform to stairs down is above you as you pass under to get back to start). That's as far as I've seen it go.
As for shortcut, it can be random where it pops and leads too I believe. I don't use the rune, but I think Gergall can answer that better.
Edit: One last thing. In the two tunnels on the lower floor, the terrormonger hugs one side, so you can hug the other side and it will pass you without spotting you.
If the digger is ahead and you don't need a costume, use invisible (not near a doll) and you can pass it that way.
Shortcut Rune: Wiki is accurate. There are 3 different spots, so 2 of them will be randomly connected via Well+Ladder and the 3rd spot will not be involved.
Digger: I've been known to pop a prism powder to get past this guy on more than one occasionThis is the only mob where invis works.
A couple of pages ago I posted the standard XP maze setup to make sure I wasn't missing anything (and the answer I got is that this maze has everything thats needed):Originally Posted by Norellicus

The tough part is getting maze rune 108, which cannot be purchased. 108 only drops from Hoardbox/Lockbox at the end of a maze, and it can only drop if you used Rune 094 (Lost And Found) on the maze. So, you'll need to buy 094 to get 108.
Alternatively, just get a good XP maze off duplidoc.
Hows the fishing maze works? I heard about it but dont really understand why you would fish in MMM over just a regular area? Is the skill ups higher? What fish can you catch?
Basically you catch all kinds of fish, but they are temporary items. You cannot take them back to the AH and sell them. You hand in these fish for points. If you collect enough points, you will be taken to a reward area where you may receive a Heron Ring, a Seagull Ring, or just some junk.
Most people who do the fishing maze are doing it because they want a Heron Ring and/or a Seagull Ring.
There's also for the chance at the Brigand's charts and Pirates charts (free chance for m.kris) too. Remember that there's also a cap to the amount of fish you can catch per day. So this an extra chance to do more fishing with a little possible extra reward. I'm only guessing, but I don't think fishing in MMM counts towards the daily cap either, since it feels stupid for SE to do that. So basically take advantage of both, if you've nothing better do with your maze.
So, I have about 150-190 marbles, Maze 01, and only the two starting runes (I think). Available jobs are RDM, BLM, BRD, and WAR with all relevant subs. I've slowly gotten what marbles I've gotten using R03s to help people get MMM gear.
How do I solo MMM so that I can get something out of it while I get marbles and runes from the Hoardboxes? I don't care if the "something else" is items, random crafting skillups, fishing skillups, or xp. I seem to remember there is some sneaking maze I can do? Do I have to spend marbles to get that maze, and being as Runeless as I am is there any point?
The "sneaking" maze you refer to is Voucher 06.
For solo, I recommend buying copies of other people's mazes for Voucher 05 and Voucher 06 off Duplidoc to see which one you like more. Both will get you marbles and runes.
-Voucher 5 will give you augmented belts (such as the coveted fast cast belt).
-Voucher 6 will give you a few items you can sell for gil (nothing very valuable, you might make 5k to 10k per run). Bring reraise, as you will probably die and lose some XP, especially on your first few runs. On the plus side, this voucher gives the most marbles.
If I had to recommend one I'd say go for Voucher 5 and take some time to learn it. You get decent marbles, you won't die, and you might get a good belt.
Awesome, thanks. Two final questions:
1) Are there any differences in which Runes you get from which Voucher, at least as far as 05/06 go?
2) Should I build up 6 Cave Conservation points each time, or will it matter at all for those two?
1). Yes. You cannot place Lost and Found on Voucher 05, so you lose out on getting the Job runes and the crafting runes + a couple others like Conditioning Contract (that gives the exp bonus). Voucher 06 lets you get both sets of runes, but I think you cannot get the Goblin job specific runes (Walloper, Spellslinger, Barrager runes) on a Voucher other than 05.
2) It depends on how much time you have in between events and such, but if you can, do your MMM maze with 2.CC just before JP midnight, and then again with 0. CC just after which should maximize marbles and anything else out of the hoardbox. Otherwise just keep it simple and go with 6.CC each time.
Lastly, I would have to disagree with Gergall, and say soloing V06 is better for you.
1) you get more marbles to buy all those runes.
2) You will have to do V06 for the lost and found set of runes anyway (including the almighty Conditioning Contract rune - I got mine from V07 though).
3) Once practiced at V06 it is sooo simple.
4) For V05, imo, you're either going for a good belt or you're farming marbles, which go against each other. Marble farming with V05 requires you to finish as soon as possible, whereas getting a good belt requires you to get Chapperix to a good level which takes time. (the belts also sell for at most 2k, where as the other items you may earn from 06 can sell for more - it's nice pocket change in my opinion).
5) With a good copied V06 maze, and CC in the chest, you'll have enough marbles to buy a couple vouchers after 1 run.
Try them both!
I wonder... has anyone ever gotten a Antica Ring to drop? Thinking about going for one after I get my own Koggel and Mamool Ja Earring out of the way.
