Which type of run were you doing?

If it was an all enemies I'd think that maybe it got based around the number of mobs he was actually there to see die.

Yeah it was Voucher 01. Interestingly enough, doing a V04 run now and we've HQ'd two gilt ingots. Party Leader is a 50ish Goldsmith, and we have a 100 Goldsmither in the run with us. We broke the bangle synth though >_> We lost everything and HQ'd the bangles, didn't get too many extra marbles

Interesting fact: We had someone d/c mid-run today, and come back a few mobs before the chest, he got a good 1200 exp less than we did.

Does anyone know exactly what influences the amount of exp in the chest exactly?

It's probably like campaign then where it keeps a mini tally of mobs untill the end. His tally reset when he DC'd it seems.

I'd take a guess on the number exp one gained during the run.
I died twice and missed couple mobs from being died and too far away in the maze. I got less exp than the others.
That was on v1 and supreme might rune

Yeah in our group we had someone die and was only dead for one mob, but he missed out on about 100 exp from the chest.

Went tonight and got an Ermine's Tail from the dhalmel boss. The runes I included were the same as the previous drop: 004, 013, 017, 018, 044, 045, 094. I attached a picture of the item equipped in case you guys don't believe it. :D First dagger of the new years! (EST) lol

No I don't, I'm saving until I unlock Maze Overlord. I'm at a little over 3k all time marbles and believe I am nearing the fourth title.

05, 013, 038, 044, 046, 094 so close, just missing Might and Supreme Might now.. I've lost lot on every Supreme Might now!

By the way, JP wiki indicates that Mamool Ja Earring will drop from the Bugard (Lizard + Giant Warrior). If you read Japanese, http://ff11wiki.rdy.jp/-1079960685.html.

Great Warrior is 100% earth, it resonates on my earth panel on M03.

Great Warrior definitely resonates with the Earth Symbol. As for, the news about MMJ Earring: exciting! I should be fighting a Bugard tomorrow :D

Now I'm wondering if M03 with Great Warrior resonating on the earth block is necessary.
My group have been trying Lizard V07 + Lizard + Supreme might + Lost and Found + <size rune> + <behavior rune> combo a couple time. The drop rate must be really bad if the requirement is just as simple as V07+Supreme might + Great Warrior + LnF + mob family rune.

Also, from the JP Wiki, they listed 4 combinations on Bugard mob, 2 of which dropped Mamool Ja Earring (both are from non-M01 tabula), I think the drop is mob specific as well ?
Koggelmander may not drop from Bugard.

I'm just hoping it's not from dropping from Eft. That fight was really nightmare.>.>

I had originally copied and translated the 2 setups that dropped it. But I guess the forum doesn't like the moonspeak so it got lost? I'm too damn tired to redo it right now but I'll write it in the morning if there's interest. It does look like each drop may be mob specific considering both the data we have and the fact that there are 2 weapons and 2 armor that can be associated with each family rune on 07.

These are the 2 combinations that drop Mamool Ja Earring
- M02
- Lizard, Great Warrior, Might, Supreme Might, Motion, Enhancing Magic, Dark Magic, Lost and Found
- Title "迷宮を知る者" 10 Marbles, 200 exp.
- Rune 053 "Enhancing Magic" and "Mamool Ja Earring" from Treasure Chest

- M03
- Lizard, Great Warrior, Might, Supreme Might, Stillness, Enhancing Magic, Accuracy, Lost and Found
- Great Warrior（Earth）and Stillness（Water） were placed on the corresponding elemental block (in the tabula)
- Treasure chest dropped "Mamool Ja Earring"

EDIT:
OK, here's what I have in mind:
Tabula M02 have Light related elements (Fire, Thunder, Wind, Light) and
Tabula M03 have Darkness related elements (Earth, Water, Ice, Darkness)

From those setup above, the tabula share these runes:
- Lizard and Lost and Found, obviously
- Great Warrior (Earth), Supreme might, Might, Enhancing Magic

1. I think it's not possible that the requirement is "Great Warrior must be aligned with the appropriate element" in order to get the item drop, otherwise M02 won't drop the earring.
2. I think it's possible that the requirement is "To have at least 1 (or maybe 2?) of the element runes resonating on the appropriate block".
From the JP wiki case above (1st case) "Enhancing magic" can be placed on light block and "Motion" can be placed on fire block on M02.
The setup posted by Auburn also reflect this property : Elemental magic (darkness) and Great Warrior(earth) were placed appropriately on their corresponding element on M03
