    So I finally got enough marbles to do my own maze, bought them, put em in, and went in, only to realize I had forgotten one rune: stillness >__>;

Was able to win with 1min left, and like 3k exp lost on rdm, my new maze had a 45 base marble reward, which isn't too bad I guess, I threw in lost and found to get more runes so I don't think I'll mind the hit to my marble rewards for a few runs.

However, Chaperix gained like 7-10 levels in the process of fighting this funguar so there was never any chance of him dying.
Right after I made my post last night I went in, got Chaperix, went down left path, walked up to a couple bats, whereupon he aggroed them and died instantly lol

Ran around talking to various NPCs but I couldn't see a way to get him back, so just explored the various objectives. I could still complete them until it was time to get the key, so just used compass at that point. Went in with my friend on the 2nd run and he claimed every mob before Chap and everything went fine, so that's what I'm just going to make sure to do from now on, at least in the first few levels. (I know people said to do that but I didn't realize the consequences would be so dire lol)

Just wanted to let you know what to expect - L+F doesn't cause more runes to drop, it simply changes the runes that can drop. Instead of getting runes like 10, 11, 12, 17, 20, low 40s (magic types) etc, you will INSTEAD get low 50s (WAR/MNK/WHM etc) and crafting runes (Smith/Gold/Leather etc) and 108.

If you need rune 10 and/or 11 to increase your rewards in voucher 6, I actually recommend you pull L+F out. You cannot get 10 or 11 with L+F in place.

The mobs down the left (Fetch) path are generally a lot stronger. You should take him down the middle path first to level up a bit, I think. At least, that's what we always did, and it seemed to go pretty smoothly.

There seem to be 3 tiers of mobs, in increasing order: Fodder, Dinky, and something that starts with a P. Good to start him out on the lower ones and move up I think.

Yeah, I know. I already have 10+11, and almost every rune I was getting from my last few runs was just a repeat, so I'm opting to collect the LF ones instead.

Yeah that's what we did on my friend's run. I think we did Mid1 > Mid2 > Right1 > JobChange > Left1 > Left2 > Key. One thing I noticed though, in the 2nd left run, was he was at that point fighting harder mobs for his level, but he was levelling up basically every hit, and he'd do Goblin Rush and then the next hit he'd be 4 levels higher. So I wonder if actually the best way wouldn't be fighting the harder mobs at first but just making sure that you tank them for him?

(He had set 108, by the way, but it was still faster levelling compared to the other mobs the goblin was fighting on the same run)

If you go straight for the toughest mobs he might miss a lot, so I think middle path first may indeed be best. More testing will reveal the answer soon.

If anyone was wondering, I went middle first during my win on the previous page. It was just a lucky guess though, I had no idea the middle was easier at the time.

Can the goblin level up on a missed swing? I could have sworn I saw it on the 2nd run last night, but I had chatfilters on so it could have been a miss+hit that just looked like two misses if you weren't watching for it.

I couldn't find it anywhere >_> How much was V05 again? And do you think you could solo it without any fancy runes?

    V05 costs 100

It is easily soloable, in fact bringing extra people will simply bore them out of their minds as there is nothing to do other than lead your gob around (and they can't do that part) so they are basically spectators.

If you are worried about difficulty anyway, pop in any runes you have with helpful descriptions. 19, 20, 30s stat runes, 50s job runes, and 108.

It costs 100 marbles I'm pretty sure (I had 2200 saved up so I wasn't really paying attention lol but I think 1 and 100 are the only cost options for vouchers). And although my own run was a disaster, I don't see why it couldn't be done solo with an empty tabula.

A quick question if any MMM enthusiasts are also .dat people. I recall when MMM came out people were able to see runes added even though POLUtils didn't display the file. Is there a way to figure out which new runes are added?

As someone with a level 68 fellow NPC, I am very familiar with the massive lag between killing a mob and your NPC getting a levelup message. This might be the same issue - perhaps you're seeing level up messages for hits that occured 5-10 seconds ago.

Alternative theory: your gob might get XP for taking damage? Hey, it works in campaign.

EDIT: Also, I think that the new runes might be the 14 remaining job runes. I suggest this because I noticed that job runes can be assigned to Voucher 5. If this is the case, I would gamble that they can only be used on Voucher 5, and not on Voucher 7.

Not necessarily true, we were doing it with 3 people. I would take the goblin down the middle path to start leveling him up, Viq would go down the right path solo and smash all the crates. That gives him all the temporary items needed for weapon upgrades and the key, and all the usable items found in the crates get transferred to Chaperix anyway, he doesn't have to be there. Those two parts at least are totally independent.

Ayeka generally went down the left path and looked for the lost items. This also can be done without the goblin, but when you return an item to the quest-giver, he asks you to bring Chaperix back to him for a reward. If you do, the gob will learn a new ability and new spell, but if you continue finding the lost items without bringing Chaperix, it doesn't seem to "store up", he'll just learn the last one when you bring him there. At the least, you could just bring Chaperix back up after every lost item, if you really want to learn all 3 spells/abilities (I'm not even sure what they were).

As for leveling on a missed attack, I have no idea. You could try just taking him down the left path immediately and tanking for him, I'm not sure if that'll work better or not. If it doesn't work on the first mob you can always just go back up and go to the middle path instead. Letting him kill ALL the mobs (I didn't do any damage at all) for the third run did seem a little slow, the next time I'd probably help him out a bit, at least for the end of the second and third sets in the middle path. I think spending more time down the left path is more efficient when he starts getting to the higher levels (30+ or so?).

So; just to get this down pact before I try after maintenance:

Gonna go in RDM/WHM and PL my gobbie through the middle path by gathering the mobs up and bringing them to him, then do the finding stuff thing, change his job, then do the final fight? Something like that, yeah?

When you go up to the top, the goblin there (Bounce-something) will ask for the key. Talk to the smith goblin after that and he'll say he'll make the key for some particular temporary items. You need to have gotten those from the crates down the path on the right side, so you'll have to have done that path at some point as well. It also seems handy to do that one to give Chaperix some items, he needed his x-potions in every final fight for us, I believe.

EDIT: Beaten by Deimos. That's what I get for typing slowly while eatting lunch.

To add to the key thing, he always needed Bronze Ingot and another item to make the key. The other item was always the same, but I don't remember it off hand. The Bronze Ingot was given to me each time after finishing the first crate room as a reward from Smashlix.

Thank god...I can farm marble solo. Many people will miss this event, but it's pretty damn fun and easy to do.

Also, I tried peon rune and ended up fighting a floating weapon near the end instead of behemoth.

We got floating weapons with just 102 on too, so I'm not sure that the boss isn't just random.

Voucher 6 is the best one for farming marbles solo, I get 60+180 every 3 days.

I did a run today where I did 2 Lefts, 3 mids, 2 rights, Lv50 walloper with 1 weapon upgrade. I got the animated weapons which kept coming in waves and my goblin wiped. Had a thought, wonder what you guys think. Since the left and right paths seem to be about buffing your goblin (Left for Abilities, Right for job and weapon upgrades), and since it doesn't seem you necessarily need the middle mobs in order to level up, I wonder if the number of clearances of middle determines the strength of the final fight? Like my goblin died because we were fighting a Lv3 boss, with only Lv2 abilities and without the second weapon upgrade?

I wanted to try another run clearing all paths 3 times but I got glitched/stuck talking to the job change goblin and had to wait 25min for the zone to end and get spit out lol (this maze hates me)
