I used to do a ton of MMM, but looking at all the stuff in V05 makes me feel a bit dumb. I suppose I'll get the hang of it after a few runs. I guess it doesn't matter which tabula I use for this?
Use 108 if you have it. Use SM and get M and use that too. As you get marbles you can eventually buy STR and DEX to make the maze slightly easier. I'm recommending STR and DEX because you don't care about how many marbles you earn per run. If you did care, you should use some runes from 100-104 instead.

Tabula doesn't really matter, although M02 can resonate both STR and DEX.

Job runes can help as well (read their descriptions to determine if they will be of any use).

I recommend switching to melee as soon as you can (some people use barrager instead) and then change to mage right before the boss fight.

You are correct that anyone can get the non-CC belts. When you pop the crate, you have the option of taking the belt out or leaving it there for someone else to take.

Your job doesn't matter as long as you or your mule can toss a couple of Cure IIIs in an emergency.

I had 5493 marbles*, so yeah. Picked up STR and DEX, and I do have 108. I have WAR, MNK, WHM, BLM, RDM, and THF runes; I guess it's probably better to buff him for the boss than for the rest of it, so either BLM or RDM.

I'm going to use M03 for now, since M02 and M01 are set up for merits and lower-level exp, respectively, and I'd rather not dismantle them if I can help it. Thanks for the advice!

On my first run, I tried following this:

    4) do L1-2-3
    5) do M2, then enter M3 and kill 3 spiders. This gets him to 60
    6) change to spellslinger
    7) get key/weapons
    8) boss
on WHM, except I used walloper and changed him after R1. I got Chaperix to 51 and finished L3 (assuming L means Fetchafox) right as I timed out. I'm sure I'll get more efficient with practice, but maybe I'm missing something too.

Since you have all the runes (like 108 ) feel free to try my strat. I don't know if this is any good for people who don't have 108.

M1 full clear (with 108, M, and SM, this will get you all the way to level 14)
    R1
Change to Melee (start key quest since ur halfway up the stairs anyway)
    R2
    Get key and upgrade weapon
M2 full clear or mostly clear - gets you into the 30s
    R3
    Upgrade weapon again
L1 as fast as you can. Chappy will end up killing a couple mobs and get to 40
L2 as fast as you can but let Chappy kill a few mobs - gets into high 40s
L3 get the mess tin and if you have time run around until Chappy hits 60. Worst case should be high 50s.
    Change to mage
    Upgrade weapon
    Upgrade weapon again
    Turn in key
    Fight boss

Here is a potential tip for people who hate getting glitched out against weapons. I am talking about the glitch where Chaperix starts spinning around or wandering in circles, failing to aggro and kill some of the remaining weapons.

When Sonachastiq or whatever his name is talks about a mining operation, you know you are going to be facing weapons.

I have seen that walloper and barrager kill weapons very fast, and often move on to wave 2 without killing all the weapons in wave 1. This can lead to timing out.

Spellslinger kills the weapons much more slowly, but this can be an asset. It seems that spellslingers kill so slowly that the weapons have a much greater chance of all linking onto Chaperix, ensuring that he will kill them all. So I am recommending mage for weapons, but give yourself a good 5 minutes for the boss fight.

I've noticed that the Spellslinger can get into some trouble if you draw 3 sets of weapons instead of 2. Aside from the kill speed issue, he seems to get interrupted a lot for me when he's got a few weapons whacking away on him. With Revitalizer, his SP will handle the first group easily, and some of the second with luck. It's that 3rd set where he can get into some trouble. Because of this, I like Barrager for weapons. I almost never have the issue that I get with Walloper where he wanders around like an idiot, since Barrager's Bomb Toss has some pretty decent range on the AoE. Then again, that's one of the things I like so much about V05. There's really no right or wrong way to do it, so there's a ton of room for experimentation and improvisation to keep it from getting boring by doing the exact same thing every time.

I always make sure to fully upgrade my spellslinger's weapon, so even with interrupts he is able to take out the 3 waves. It seems pretty safe and reliable to me.

Thanks, this run worked out much better for me. He got up to 58. Unfortunately, I got the "weapons" boss, and timed out just before he finished killing the last batch. Guess I need to make sure I have more time left. At least it wasn't much of a difficult fight for him.

I suppose it is necessary to run all the way up the damn steps and find out you need a key before Tempatriq will make you one?

    Yes, it is.

Also, you can tell which boss you will get at the start of the maze when you talk to Son.. the starting guy. If he babbles on about treasure, you've got weapons and should plan on giving yourself a few extra minutes for the boss.

Like Viq said take a second to read what Sonachastiq (sp?) said when you first talked to him. I usually scroll up and read it during M1.

Treasure/Mining - Weapons boss (give yourself extra time. They don't even finish POPPING for several minutes after you start the fight).

    Findaflok - Slimes

    Critter - Behemoth

I don't think this has been posted yet, sorry if it has:

If you go to fight the boss and Chaperix is levels 1-20, you will get the worst type of belt (I forgot what level this belt is, 40 maybe?). The boss will be "easy mode" for example only 3 slimes or 1 wave of weapons or weakest behemoth.

If Chappy is 21-40 you will get the middle type of belt (level 60 belt) and the bosses are harder. 4 slimes, 2 waves of weapons, or medium strength behemoth.

If Chappy is 41-60 you get a lvl 75 belt and the boss will either be 5 slimes, 3 waves of weapons, or the strongest behemoth.

Thanks for the advice. I did it again today on my mule, and managed to win despite getting weapons again and occasionally running in circles because I forgot where something was. Though I did pop the CC chest with 5 seconds left!

Sadly, the results were less than stellar:

    Belt 1: MND -1
    Belt 2: MP+14, m.crit +2, m.acc +1

    but winning is nice.

Deimos motivated me to do MMM for the belts (V05), so I grabbed some friends. I got a Snapshot belt (just +1, and had AGI-1 and Acc-1 lol) but my buddy's belt takes the cake:

So heres a few interesting things friend and I have found doing MMM.

First off, the tabula holder does not have to be the quest runner, normally my friend pulls and I drag chaperix around with me, and even if he was party leader I can still talk to chaperix / chatnachoq and be the designated runner arounder.

We've generally found the best method is this: Me, whatever, him, blm

First we enter M1 and destroy the worms quickly and efficiently, with SM and M, plus conditioning contract, chaperix is about lv 10-11 when we walk out.

Next up is M2, I grab first beetle and voke it, which chaperix begins attacking, I then run through and link all the beetles. BLM friend then pops a tier 1 aga and drops them al lto 20~30%

We then let chaperix walk through and 1-2 shot em all, leveling up like crazy, we generally walk out of here close to lv 20

Next we grind through all three Rs.

Then onto the Ls. I voke the closest bat, which chaperix will try and attack, then run all the way to the ??? and click it, linking the bats along the way, once again my friend drops a tier 2 aga this time and drops them all to 20~30%, and chaperix goes through and one shots em all, we walk out of L1 with about lv 30ish chaperix.

Finally we swap him to ranger, start key quest, and enter L2. My friend links a group of about 3-4 mobs and drops a tier 2 aga on them, then pulls them to me, giving him enough hate to hold them off of chaperix for a notable amount of time. By the time chaperix gets the from bomb tosses hes in the mid 40s, and gets very close to lv 50 by the time all 4 are dead.

We then head out, swap to necessary job on chaperix for the fight (I find mage for behemoth, walloper for slimes, stay on ranger for weapons works best), upgrade weapon to 2, grab key, and pwn the boss.

    Anywho, onto things we've noticed:

As I said, the leader does not have to be the designated chaperix fellow, first person to talk to chatnachoq is.

Second, if you place trial by numbers, once you've started the lost item quest with vendagob and the mini boss with switchlox, you cannot use their service until quest is complete.

In other words, doing a grind run for marbles only, trial by numbers sucks D:

Next, we didn't test but it appears possible to solo the run using the pull bunch of mobs and sick em on ranger method, as it seems if you click chaperix you have options, and might be able to tell him to wait at entrance then pull mobs to him. Need to test this next time.

And last, but not least! Level does not appear to effect runes, and because you can do run with someone other than tabula holder, one could do the ole voucher 01 method and do the run a billion times with 8 mules, possibly even solo. Just leave the mule at the entrance and do the run like its your own!

Actually I'd like to ask a question, what exactly are the spawn method of the mini bosses, or do we know yet?

Does the boss just spawn in its designated area no matter what tier your at, 1 2 or 3, or will he only appear after you've beet 3? Or in 3?

Its a little fuzzy and I'd rather not accidentally stumble on the boss, also how hard are we finding them to be? Would a lv 45~50 chaperix pwn its ass or get raped?

Like you said, anyone can have Chaperix follow them. Anyone can also talk to Chaperix and select the option to have him follow them, which allows you to split up and handle different tasks if you aren't solo (One person clear R1-3 while someone else levels him, for example.)

102 is actually not bad for grinding marbles. You know in advance what boss you will have, and you can get Chaperix to 60 easily on any job but Spellsinger. Plan accordingly, and you'll get 2 extra marbles for using 102.

Yes, you can solo it with Barrager Bomb Toss. No, you don't have an option to have him stand at the entrance. I posted a walkthrough for how to solo it using Barrager AoE probably 10ish pages ago.

They spawn by simply started that quest from Switchlox. The tier of the three wells doesn't matter at all. Each of the three "advanced" jobs has a set well that their boss will pop in (Walloper = Middle, Spellsinger = Right, Barrager = Left). The bosses are super weak, and you shouldn't have any trouble with them when Chaperix is as low as 30.

Ok so since I normally am going from normal mode -> ranger around the 30s, I should be able to talk to switchlox twice and start the mini boss fight, and run in and kill it while doing L2?

My main problem was getting locked out of being able to swap jobs right before the boss fight, anywho Ill be doing another run like this tonight and see how it goes.

One last question, can we fight the mini boss without chaperix and get credit? Im doing the run with a third now and were thinking of having the blm pull 3-4 mobs with thundaga 2, I hold chaperix, and the third runs in and solos the mini boss while we PL chaperix.

    Thoughts?

Yeah, you'll be able to start the mini-boss quest immediately after changing to Barrager like that. As for fighting without Chaperix can getting credit, I can't say for sure as I virtually always run V05 solo. I imagine you should, as I know that Chaperix doesn't have to be there to get credit for killing the scorpion from Vendastox's quest. My only question is why would you have the BLM -aga2? If the plan is to PL Chaperix with Bomb Toss, you would be better off just linking things after pulling with a debuff that deals no damage. While Chaperix will get exp from damage done by you or another player, he gets substantially less than if he had done that damage himself.

Viq is right about the -agas. Chaperix gets XP for dealing damage, not for getting killshots. You can level him faster if you let him do more of the work.

He gets to lv 50 anyways, he only needs enough exp from killing those many mobs by the time we hit the run, so he dings lv 50 around halfway killing the mobs.

Thus we decided to pop an aga2 to quicken things and hold hate off of him, making it easier.

So it seems our process will be this:

M1(full clear ourselves) -> M2(full clear with chap) -> R1->R2->R3 ->L1 -> Barrager, start both mini boss quets and vendastox quest -> L2, have third member beat vendastox quest and mini boss while we PL chaperix -> Exit and swap to proper job for final boss -> pwn the final boss

Hope this works... We might get a 4th later making it even more easier, I have to say 3 people on R3 shaves off a notable amount of time :D
