I will say it again OFFSET DOES NOT NECESSARILY MEAN COMPLETELY CANCEL OUT. seriously learn to fucking read. 49 calories is still better than 50.
Edit: also I never said orange which only proves you don't read.

Let's just make a "pretty obvious but I believe needs to be said", distinction.
They are not adding tax to these foods, they are adding MORE tax on these foods, on top of the tax already present.
they dont give an eff about fat people thats not why they are doing this, they are doing it because they are losing taxes in other areas due to the economy so they need to make up for it somewhere else...its bull cause so the people who are in good shape have to pay more to drink regular soda..bullll
Fuck all ya'll fat bitches. I am thin and fucking love it!
NOTHING TASTES BETTER THAN BEING THIN.
I believe HFCS is bad for you. I don't care if I am wrong. I am still THIN.
In Arch's Defense even if everything that has been argued "against" him in regards to the digestive process burning more calories breaking down specific sugars, doesn't that factor into calories out? and doesn't that only help his argument?
thats the point I'm not arguing his premise. in the end it is the net amount of calories that counts. Exercise and eating properly give the highest benefits to that, and I never claimed otherwise, merely that in the long run eating the actual fruit will have caloric benefits over just juice or a different beverage. I was never trying to argue that calories are unimportant. but he couldn't get down off his goddamn high horse to see that my point was valid.
Yes, this is precisely correct. There is an energy expenditure simply from running the Krebs cycle but that energy itself comes from food itself, there's an old saying that "fats burn in the fire of sugar" or something to that effect. The thing is to have the burning of food produce a net energy loss would require burning a food that could not be converted to energy, as far as I know humans can't do this.
They should just pay people to drink only water, that would be a better solution to this fatass country.
Archie are you off your game or something? Honestly calories are NOT what control weight (well, they do technically) - metabolism is. To keep a healthy metabolism your body needs proper nutrition. There are people who eat hundreds of calories and it does nothing to their body because of a high metabolic process. Likewise for the obese. When you feed your body high-fructose products, you overload your metabolic processes that usually break down the glucose into usable energy and instead they store it as fat for later usage. Starch (complex carbohydrates) from vegetables and whole grains get broken down much better and while they may be higher in caloric content (depending on their form) regular fructose and complex carbs are almost always properly metabolized.
Soda, most candies, processed meats, dairy, and bread - these all go straight to your gut unless you have the metabolism of a mack truck. Since most humans don't, it gets stored as fat. Hence, the obesity.
Still don't believe me? Go look at people who eat nothing but fruits and vegetables and meats (unprocessed). Then go look at someone who eats foods rich in high-fructose, enriched flours, processed dairy, and hormone-treated protein. You'd be surprised, I would guess, to see that the person eating with poor nutrition is the one who is less healthy.
I guess you could argue that calories matter if you eat like a fucking idiot. Calories don't matter if you exercise correctly (you know, for 20 minutes a day) and don't pump raw shit into your stomach.
I was the first person in the thread to tell arch that what he said in regards to calorie in vs calorie out was a fallacy. My contention was that calorie in vs calorie out over simplifies a rather intricate puzzle when it comes to maintaining weight loss across the entire population. But i can't help but defend him at this point because a lot of you are just saying rather ridiculous things. YES, Burning more calories than you ingest will generally equal a loss of mass in some form Arch is by no means wrong about this.
WAT?!?!?
The thing that makes it complicated is the implications on eating habits, hunger satiation, etc - all the things that cause people to eat more or less calories.
I'm not talking about any of that, I'm saying at it's root, the number of calories you ingest (no matter in what form you ingest them) vs. the number of calories you expend (for whatever reason you expend them) is the base calculus of weight gain or loss.
People who eat foods rich in high-fructose, enriched flours, processed dairy (..what?) and hormone-treated protein (lol) are more likely to be fatties because those same people are more likely to be consuming significantly more calories than people who eat "nothing but fruits, vegetables, and unprocessed meats". For the 17th time in this thread, it's the calories, not the source of the calories.
I consider, at worst, "calories in vs. calories out" to be a very -slight- oversimplification. When you compare it to "no but you have to look at the glycemic index of the foods and how they are processed and whether they contain good calories or bad calories and how many free radicals are in the elements making up the sugar molecules and and and and and" which is such a ridiculous and gross over-complication of weight loss that it's absurd. Counting calories in the foods you eat and using exercise and meal-pacing to increase calorie burning should in all situations be step #1 in weight management.
Very few people need to worry about step #'s 2-723. Cutting calories and burning more than you ingest will make you lose weight. That's all there is to it.
Tax video game paid subscriptions and online transactions to prevent obesity.
Makes sense!
I worked out for a bit.. then I lost weight.. now I have fucking STRIATIONS EVERYWHERE. It's so sexy and shit. I look cut as fuck.
hahahhhahaha owned
too bad there isnt a way to have the government force "obese" people to get out and exercise, or even watch wtf they eat. I work as a pizza delivery driver, and there is this one guy that i absolutely want to take his food from him. he's out of breath getting from his couch to the door. in an apartment building. his belly fat hangs below his XXXXXXXL shirt(dress). and he orders 4 pizzas and a 2ltr of coke for TWO people. 2!!! (what also adds to my irritation is that the guy doesnt know how to tip over a dollar for anything.) One of the drivers went through the info on the computer at work one day when he was bored, and found that this guy has ordered over $2k in pizza in about 8 months.
I'm fine with the tax... it's better than what's going on in Massachusetts due to recent votes:
- Dog racing is soon to be illegal. All dog tracks will be forced to close.
- Pharmacies and Drug Stores can no longer sell cigarettes.
- All Cigar Bars in Boston will be forced to close their doors in a few years.
- It's been widely speculated that the Boston laws will soon become state laws.
I'm against smoking, but I think that's a bit absurd, especially the cigar bar closings.
And as for "calories in, calories out" - do NOT underestimate the metabolism. I need to eat approximately 4000 calories a day to maintain my body weight... of 125... over the summer, I ate a normal (1500-2500 calories a day) diet for about three weeks, and lost 18 pounds in three weeks. Yeah, 125 to 107. Seriously.
And I'm not exactly running marathons for a living.
