    Ah, Ditto.

I live in Japan, have a Japanese CC.

    - CC works on my original NA accounts.
    - CC did NOT work on my JP account.
    - Used Webmoney instead (bought the card from a local store where I live.)

There's got to be something wrong somewhere. -- I did notice that I had to wait awhile before trying to use the same CC for another account. Got rejected when I tried the first time, which was immediately after updating another POL account.

Ok my guide on how to use Webmoney.jp as payment option in the JP Playonline software is now done!!

I hope you can save your JP FFXI account using webmoney like I did.

    - I know the guide is BIG and there is alot of text and my english is not the best but I did the best I could do to help others with a guide.

I speak no Japanese myself so it wasn't easy for me to learn how to use another form of payment option than CC.

And I wanted to try and cover everything so I know its a big guide with alot of text.

The guide can be found here on my website:

Hey, I was in the process of setting up webmoney by myself but the fact that I can read a little japanese was helping. However, I just read your site and I must say that you done very good

If you are in Midgard I would like to give you something to thank you for everybody here and at the other forum who would need to have this information to keep their accounts. If you do are in Migard please send me your character name in Private Message. My main is of course called "Altalus".

I also suggest that we sticky this guide to help future players with this problem.

Maybe they messed up some server config? This poor guy seems as frustrated as I am and has now resorted to telling me to reset my hubs/routers/modems/etc.... which I might try tomorrow. orz

He gave me the port information so if anyone wants to see if using it helps anyone...:

I have my sister who study in japan called SE. However, they not even aware the problem occured, and they just keep tell her we enter wrong card info. End up she pissed and don't want to argue with them anymore.

I want to try web chat, but I had to find sometimes where my sister is online at the same time, so I don't have huge problem on communicating

Still no fix for the problem huh? The bank I use reissued my card a year early because of a possible security breakch (that's apparently four local banks now that have had this problem), and I just got the new one in the mail. I've never had a problem updating my card info before, and my old card was working just fine. I'm getting the same symptoms mentioned here. I imported at JP PS2 release and have spent quite a bit of time on my account to lose it now.

Has SE even admitted to the barrier yet?

I haven't had this problem, but I haven't changed my CC since I started playing almost 6 years ago. Anyone know if a JCB card works yet, or is webmoney still the only option?

I wish I could get a card that lasts more than 2 years, but my bank won't issue the 12 year ones. Thus I am stuck trying to update the info right now, and the support centers are closed.

Any chance I could get some help getting WebMoney from one of you? SuTo Corp is saying they are out of stock for 1-2 weeks, and my card may deactivate on the first of April, leaving my account permanently unrecoverable. Otherwise I need someone in Japan to lend me their address so the bill can be mailed out and I can send money via PayPal to have it paid. JOnnyram used to do a service called Ramnix where he'd supply a legit JP address to use, but I found out about it too late and he had already quit FFXI for a bit. I have means to pay, via PayPal and such, just can't get this game to take what I have available.

EDIT: Goofed the quick Reply box trying to do an edit.

Anyone have feedback on kanetrade.com for purchase of WebMoney? They have some in stock, and cost a bit more than SuTo Corp, but take credit card as payment. Also, am I going to have to do any extra billing information editing to get it to bill my WebMoney account for the new mini-expansion, which I just bought a code for right before checking the mail and finding my new card? I'd deactivate my IDs right now if I hadn't have purchased that, as it would save the trouble until I found a billing solution.

Deactivate your account now. If it slips into billing for April and they can't charge your card, you are indeed screwed unless you can get a legitimate address and someone to pay the bill for you.

I already thought about deactivating, but my card will still be billed because I purchased a code for Crystalline Prophecy about an hour before I checked my mail and found the new card. EIther way, my card is getting billed, and thus my account locked. I'm hoping ElmerThePointy will see my email and be able to help me before the registration maintenance. Otherwise, I have a couple other help requests asking for a WebMoney card or use of an address. There's nothing I can do otherwise since I bought that code and I can't undo the charge.

Here is SquareEnix' response to my email support request this weekend about our billing issue. I brought up that they are screwing some of their oldest customers and accounts with this problem by blocking importers from being able to pay for the accounts easily. WIth the announcement about the extra inventory space with the Security Token, and that they ship only to the address registered to the account, we have even more trouble since we can't use the token. They need to provide a means to convert accounts between regions, for those that imported or moved to another country over the course of the last 7 years, as we can't get the enhanced security or have access to the extra storage space:

Thank you for contacting the PlayOnline Information Center,

If you are receiving a credit card authorization failure, you need to call your financial institution and have them verify with you that all your personal information is correct. Make sure your billing address matches the address your credit card company has on file for you. Also, please verify that the expiration date is correct.

We apologize, but there is nothing that we at the PlayOnline Information Center can do regarding your credit card not processing charges from our company. The reason why your debit or credit card might not work is a possible delay in a confirmation signal. This has to do with the signal transfer time as well as the way financial institutions deal with the check cashing and debit cards. We only give the financial institutions so much time to transfer a confirmation signal to us. If they stall or wait, it is treated as a denial. We only give a limited amount of time for signal transfer to protect our customers from getting their credit card numbers stolen by high level technology. We must protect our customer\'s credit card numbers and do our best to make them safe. If the financial institutions in question changes file transfer protocols, then you should be able to get a confirmation signal. Your financial institution most likely places your credit card request in a queue where it waits behind other cards to get confirmation request ahead of yours. This will delay the amount of time it would take for your signal. If you choose to use the card late in the evening or early in the morning during low volume periods your chances of getting a confirmation success should increase.

However, if your credit card is not accepted during registration, there are a few things you can try other than contacting the bank:

If you are receiving a system error, it means you need to set the time, day, month, and year correct on your Windows, Xbox 360, or PS2 system time.

As a protection for a customer that might \"Double-Click\" the submit button, there is a 20 second block for accepting additional transmissions. After the 20 second block, the submit command will allow the pre-authorization process again.

For fraud protection purposes, there is a 30 minute non-authorization block for the same credit card number. If attempted within the same 30 minute period, the credit card will be rejected for pre-authorization.

Also, thanks to a very nice member of this forum in Japan that helped me save my account by getting me a WebMoney card when I couldn't buy one from any online shop in time. That was enough for 3 months, though they now let you pay 4 months ahead.

It appears you can only switch payment of your account to WebMoney within the first few days of the month. It wouldn't take until the maintenance happened.

Deactivation of my IDs seems to have saved it, and the ACP code I purchased seems to have billed immediately instead of delaying to the first, so it didn't screw over my account.

Good news to hear. However, I am curious. I appears you contacted the NA branch with your inquiries. I'm really surprised they responded to them at all. Although I'm not expecting much, I'm going to try setting my system time to JST as this message suggests. Though I can't imagine why that would be an issue, I do remember up until recently I always had my PC set to JST just to make time calculations easier being in a JP LS.

At any rate, I contacted JP email support twice now in the last couple days, outlining in detail the exact problem as it happens and that there are any number of people with the same circumstances who are experiencing the same problem, going so far as to mention the BBS I've noticed in Taiwanese. These were lengthy emails which took me great time and effort to write as Japanese isn't my first language. Imagine my frustration at the simple replies I got back from them.

The first one simply stated that any card with the "MasterCard, Visa, or JCB" logo can be used with POL, however that they would take in my email as a "report" which I'm sure is analogous to "trash bin." So I repeated my email, quoting at the end the previous email I had received and stating clearly that I was not looking for a generalized response but rather requesting investigation regarding the issue I had painstakingly described to them. Their response to this actually took a day to receive as opposed to the last one which took little under an hour, so my hopes were up a bit until I read it: Basically, in matters that require investigation they require me to either phone the information center or use the webchat support feature.

What a bunch of bullshit. It reminds me of any typical customer service that passes you from one department to another because they just don't want to deal with you. What baffles me is that I don't have just a standard complaint but one that involves them getting my money, which you would think they would go out of their way in order to solve. I guess not.

Going to try the webchat support but I'm not about to dial long distance to Japan so this is the last step for me. I'm really hoping I can get them to address this issue (even if it's just publicly admitting denial of overseas credit cards like webmoney does by stating it perfectly clear on their site.)

I realize the webmoney solution works, however I'm not about to buy 30%-50% marked up yen online when I still have the will left to argue.

It doesn't appear they actually read my ticket submission more than enough to see I was getting a billing error from the server. I'm probably going to have to write a physical letter to get through to someone, just to force a human to interact with the thing. I don't do enough Japanese right now to handle business language with the Japanese branch, so I'm trying to get the American branch to talk to me. The other issue is that they need to handle this for things like the Security Token, because this affects Europeans that imported the NA version too. If they're going to start locking down accounts like this, they have to at least offer account conversion or something.

As for the WebMoney markup, I'm trying to deal with real people in Japan that would be in shops that sell them, already buying things like PSN cards for themselves. That way I only have to send them what it really costs, plus a little for the PayPal fee or such. The 5000 yen card was about $51, plus another few dollars for the PayPal fee to immediately send funds with my credit card. Yeah, shops like SuToCorp and KaneTrade want like $62-65 for one, but their business is to sell these things for profit.

They tell you about the status of your WebMoney payments in the NA viewer, at least. I didn't expect this error to be present in other regions.

Hi, so I have read the guide u posted and I am wondering which option did you choose to pay on sutocorp.com? There's 3 options paypal/liberty reserve/bank wire. Which one is the one that corresponds to paying using moneybookers.com?
