One advantage that might not been mentioned earlier in this topic about blinking.

If you're anticipating a knock-back WS that removes shadows, you can cast ichi/ni right when the WS is fired and when you blink you won't get interrupted by the knock-back effect, hence your shadows will be casted on you.
