Last night, people from my LS wanted to merit, and since we were letting a 68 BRD go to leech, I had to play BRD instead of COR. We were at middle birds, and...blargh. This is the reason Corsair's Roll is the right choice, because things that make your party kill much faster than they do with 1 BRD means you run out of mobs, if your DDs don't suck. None of them had relics, but that would have just made it worse. I was constantly sniping mamools from the top camp just to keep chains (fortunately, there was no party there most of the time, and the party that eventually moved in had a SAM/NIN pulling or something, so yeah, they didn't need all the mobs). We still had to use the wivres sometimes when I couldn't reach any mamools; several times we ended up clearing all 3 of them. WHM DRG WAR MNK BRD BRD, if you're curious.

I typically exp as COR/RNG, put SMN on the mage (to make up for the times I pull hate), some DD roll on the DD, and COR roll on everyone. Until they come up with Lowered Repop Time Roll, that's the way it's going to stay. I parsed myself with /WAR and didn't really enjoy it; I missed that extra accuracy a lot. Do people who go /WAR favor accuracy in their TP setup instead of haste, or shoot for TP?

I trust the mages that I merit with to not require me to /WHM or /DNC or any other sub that would make me want to go do something else instead, but obviously that might not be the case for everyone. I don't do pickup merits for pretty much the same reasons I haven't joined a pickup party in years. If your party needs 2 DD rolls to keep chain, and you're not running out of mobs, or if you need to /WHM to keep people alive, then obviously you should do what's best for the party. But I'm not usually desperate for merits, so if I'm going to go, I typically make parties where I can do what I like.

You're the Corsair. They're not going to kick you if you disobey them.

Not for nothing, but I am curious how you outparsed a Jambiya + Dagger merits COR by 7%. That seems a little bit too much for me. Maybe something like 5 or 4% is more reasonable.

If your going to be pulling and not worrying about dmg, /whm is going to be your best bet. Pull with DiaII and keep stoneskin up, it's the only effective way I found pulling at a very rapid rate and keeping all buffs up. I generally start pulling once the mob hits about 30% and by the time it's dead, the mob you pulled should just be arriving. Having movement increase gear does help with this too.

If there is a brd for pulling, then /rng with joytoy and martial gun. If you got 8 merits in sword, or torque/suppa, and good melee gear you can eat meat and put out better numbers.

Not that you can't pull with /WHM, but I've found pulling with /NIN is much more effective and easygoing.

/nin... have fun with sushi because you're missing 22 acc, 25 r.acc, sharpshot and barrage.

It's not worth bringing up the arguments again and getting shunned from 20k+/hr merit parties. I refuse to seek so if I didn't go with LS I wouldn't get merits.

    Yeah shukuffxi, I'm talking about pulling 20% on birds; no way I'd come close to that on Mamools O_O;;

I typically do use /WAR and sushi, you get more RAtk and more Acc/Racc than /RNG with meat...yes you have to spam sushi vs. birds but really if you're hurting that badly you can just use Crab Sushi which isn't that much more expensive than cheapkabobs(4k~/stack on Ramuh). Usually I spam Squid til I'm out, then Crab, then stick to Detonator when I'm totally empty. /NIN is a crockpot full of dildos either way imo, yes you build TP quickly, but shit doesn't generally stay alive long enough to WS twice, and the 1 WS per mob you do get off will do a fair amount less than /WAR with sushi or /RNG with meat.

No, I'm not. But I realize that often times a COR will go "hey, Joyeuse is great for TP gain, and M. Kris is great for TP gain. So if I dual wield them, it'll be even better!"

    But yeah, no.

Slight bump, but a couple more questions:

I am nearing 75, and I was wondering.. any general consensus on cat2 merits?

Cat 1 I think I'll go QD acc + QD recast.

Cat 2, I'm not too sure on. It seems like I'd want to bump up Snake Eye and Fold up high so I can be more aggressive with rolling.
1 point in Loaded deck.. worth it?

5 Snake Eye is absolutely required

I went with 4 Fold and 1 Loaded Deck

That's what I was going to go for but I got totally sold on winning streak. I ended up going 4 snake eye, 2 fold, 3 winning streak, and 1 loaded deck.

I honestly don't use snake eye and fold as much as I'd imagine so the extra minute on rolls is pretty awesome.

I can still snake eye nearly once every roll cycle and I don't bust that much even with rolling very aggressively so I don't mind not having 5 min recasts on them. :D

For merits, spam sushi and don't be cheap about it. Use the best bullets you can, and only use detonator every 100tp.
Try this setup, as it is the ONLY time I have broken 36k/hr in any meripo for several continuous hours without the use of exp bands: rdm, brd, brd, cor cor, drk

    Enjoy.

dualwielding them is not bad on colibris, on everything else I woudl go /war or /rng. Especially joytoy + m.kris with samurai roll will net you very fast TP gain.

I've always gone /rng on meripo: sometimes I help w/ QD on link, exspecially on birds since BRD can't horde unless he wants mpk the PT, and like Kerberoz said it's quite easy outparse a mediocre DD, w/ minuet and chaos roll I reached over 1100 w/ slug lol.

About COR pulling, I simply lol'd when to the "BRD Do you have it?", they reply "nope, why? Don't want to pull? ^^"

anyway, I'd say Martial ftl from my experience.

If you have a decent WS build Detonator is actually a much more reliable and more powerful WS.

I'm trying to get a Corsair's Gun +1 synthed to see if I can pull higher Detonator numbers but I'm not sure if it'll make much difference with Martial's TP bonus.

The other day I topped off at just over 1400 on Detonator with 200TP on birds; I'm determined to break 1500 goddamnit!
