feet: zenith, goliard, nashira, AF2, dusk

Dark Earring - I can see the use of this for Drain or Aspir, however with such a low base skill to being with, I would personally put the Magnetic in place of that along side Loq. This can increase your Max MP so possibly allowing you to cap at a higher level. I don't know how much MP you normally have in all your other sets, but for me having a high max MP for my spells is important. I know in the long run however you're never really at max MP.

Goliard/Shadow Cuffs - There isn't much need to have both of these. Personally I wouldn't use the Goliard for nuking since you can just use Zenith. It would be of better interest to use Zenith due to 1 more Magic Atk, as well as more MP so you don't drop so low from your cap. The Magic Acc, is essentially irrelevant on nukes. You should be using the Shadow Cuffs for INT spells like Gravity and Bind, which I'm sure you do.

Dusk Gloves - I got these a while ago and ended up selling them the next day. I understand the use of them for Refresh and Haste, but I'm pretty sure with AF Hat, Swift Belt, Nashira Legs, Tabard (when you get it ofc) you can easily hit the recast cap for both spells with or without the spell. Also if you like to solo or get caught in a bad situation, those Dusk pieces can kill you.

Obi's - If you are able to use them efficiently then they are fine to use. I use them occasionally when I plan to do something on a certain day, but I won't normally bring them. Ice/Thunder are fine to keep, but the Dark obi is kinda pushing it. I don't know how you work your macros to efficiently use them, but I can't without changing my macros when the appropriate day rolls around.

Goliard Trews - Seems like a piece only used for the -% Physical. If you're tanking something just put on Crimson and try and run away if anything. Wouldn't seem like it gets much use, so I'd leave them at home.

Dusk Feet - Same reasons as Dusk Gloves.

I dunno if you have Enhancing merits, but if you don't then there's no need to carry all the Enhancing pieces if you don't reach the 301 cap. But if you do w/o the Merciful Cape (via merits), then don't get the Cape, or get the cape and redo those merits that you may have. If you don't have Enhancing merits, then you should get either Glamor Jupon, or Enhancing Earring. Because without either 1 of those, you can't cap Phalanx 2 (if you have that). And you sure don't need all that skill to cap Phalanx 1. If you use them for Protect/Shell, then keep it if you use it efficiently.

I often just bring the gear for my RDM (and other jobs also for that matter) that I know I will need for what event or similiar Im being called to do.
I leave stuff at MH that I know, when Im certain I can, behind that willfill no to little functional for the event I will be attending.
I manage to save inventory slots alot better when I think and plan like this.

I love phalanx II ;( I use it sometimes even just in blm pt <.< Can leave 1 piece of it home since I'm not hitting any extra cap though

As somebody else stated, full dark magic gear on rdm actually makes drain/aspir good.

The problem with "filling a role as rdm," is 9/10 my skill gear is better than the other rdms, my mnd gear is better, mp management, etc, so I should have skill/mnd gear at most things. Even at merits, a full buff slow/para II can be the difference between a dead DD and not when you are fighting skoffins.

I suppose i only really use goliard in salvage when im on pull duty, or ein when I take hate on too many mobs, but it's still really nice to have. I've been in far too many situations where I drop to 5-10 hp left.

I'm also quite unsure how zenith mitts would outperform goliard cuffs in the long run. Rdm doesnt have a good native skill in ele magic, and 4 macc in most cases is about 4% resist (according to the recent tests). 4% resist v 3 more damage is a no brainer imo, though I can see the mp argument.

and nashira head is part of my dark magic set, it seems a few of you were not sure about this <.<

You could lose the Forest Rope and AF2 belt for a Hierarch belt.

It would be 12 less mp on vert set and 2 less hmp on resting but still decent benefits to both sets.
Would also allow you to sell the forest rope for about 300k~ depending on server.

water for poison, fire for burn (when /blm).

white tathlum ? Enmity is not great for a rdm. If a job can survive when it pulls hate it's RDM.
    it's for the +15 hp/mp.

turban is for melee, nashira is useless. Spell interruption is great .. but not that great. Either put them in mog or get something like Gliard head/yigit head for hmp. -2 invo.
    turban for vert.

Enhancing & drk torque are very situationnal. Drk torque mainly. Ugg pendant lol.. Nuking is fine on RDM but it's probably less that 10% of your work. And you already have elemental torque for this.
    enhancing for phalanx?

    enfeebling /toss
enfeebling earring is pretty awesome, depending on what you use rdm for...

goliard is "good" and all but conserve mp is shit. /toss. Remove nashira, goliard.
    -2 invo
retarded much? goliard is the best convert piece.

The only usefull stuff in there would be goliard & MND gloves I guess. I see you're elvaan, if you die for MP get RSE.
    obviously it makes sense to drop zenith, and then get another mp piece, that you'd only use for vert? plus for elvaan +50 mp in nuke gear is very nice x.x;

    zenith, goliard, AF1 goodbye.
again, +50 mp in leg slot is great for vert, and seriously...af? obviously 15 enhancing skill does nothing....

The only reason you'd keep drk and enhancing is for bio and phalanx2. While phalanx2 is cool, bio is shit.
only phalanx2? right, i forgot we don't have phalanx1. and an extra 14% damage from bio is very, very nice when it's doing almost half the damage to a mob...though that's covered by crimson and any other piece, so the rest that he has would be useless for that. and it's also good for drain/aspir....

Even at merits, a full buff slow/para II can be the difference between a dead DD and not when you are fighting skoffins.
i hope you mean slow1/para1? slow/para2 are a huge waste of mp in merits, and can be the difference between a dd dying because you ran out of mp, or that dd living.

Why is Slow2 a waste of merits?

Am I really the only RDM who likes to stack Conserve MP gear for haste/refresh/cures? Macros swap in Goliard Body, Cobra hands, legs, and feet before every spell goes off, then back to idle set. Wish I could get a Magnetic Earring, but I have Static for BLM. I never felt the need for an overload of haste/fastcast gear for that, yarnball helps me keep my cycles going well enough that I seldom find myself waiting on recasts to buff someone. *shrug* Personal preference issue obviously, but just surprised I never see anyone with a similar setup as me.

for something like a merit pt, you should never run out of mp anyway, so the extra .28% mp you save per +cmp doesn't really do much good. however yes, it is technically the most (only) useful stat for those spells.

Well yeah, it's more of a "better than nothing" thing than a necessity, but I'm pretty OCD about these things.

I have similar issues and finally had to just cave and bite the bullet on some efficiency. Specifically I leave my Dusk/Swift if I'm not tanking or meleeing, and I don't really carry a full on Conserve MP build, just Goliard body. I'd like to, but I prefer having damage reduction sets over it, since I don't typically have huge issues with keeping MP up. Obis aren't a huge issue since I only have Dark/Light/Wind, and only break those out for Limbus/Dynamis or when I look at the day and can tell one of those will feasibly be up in the next few hours before I can come back to MH. You already mentioned the Dark gear, I have 1 Dark merit so when a non Drain/Aspir sub I just carry CFG's, gives just enough for the 6/tick Bio tier.

Magic Strap is a waste of a slot IMO, I have Witch Sash and tried using both for a bit and I still have yet to see a single Magic Crit. Ever.

I also personally think you're going a bit far on your convert set...1:1 can be kinda useless on Elv depending on how much MP you actually idle in, I'm Elv as well and I aim to have just enough MP over my idle set to cover 2 Cure IVs and a Regen, as anything past that will likely be wasted when I switch back into my idle set. Especially if you're going to go full-on with a Conserve MP build, Max MP just isn't that important when you're sitting on 5/tick already and have a solid Aspir set, which you have both of. W.Turban I only carry when I'm meleeing, and I take the 5 MP hit on Convert vs. AF+1.

I also keep a separate elemental skill+ set and max INT/MAB set, but tbh I think when you have Goliard, Nashira is overdoing it a tad. And if you're ok with taking a 1 MND hit(you're Elv to start, you can also get a Muse Tariqah and dump the Numinous+1), I would use Yigit Gages to consolidate the spaces of Shadow/Devotee's+1. And Goliard legs I only use when I'm carrying my full Physical- set...I only carry my reduction sets based on what I'm doing too, before you leave the MH just think about what you're actually doing. If you're doing Ultima, you probably don't need a physical minus set b/c at most you'll be eating magic damage, vice-versa for fighting things that dont' nuke(Sheep in Antlion's Clothing duo, etc.)

Since I also need to carry triggers and whatnot I typically have streamlined to this:

    Always on me:

    Echos
    Ginger Cookies
    Joy/Genbu's
    HQ Staves x8
    Raptor Strap+1
    Dark Grip
    Full AF2
    AF+1 Hat/Legs/Body
    Goliard Chapeau
    Elemental/Enhancing/Enfeebling/Dark/Uggy/Beak
    Elemental/Enfeebling/Loq
    Errant/Goliard Body
Crimson/Devotee's(getting Yigits after one more run)/Genie Gages
    Omega/Tamas/Serket
    Cheviot/Prism/Merciful(Altruistic doesn't exist)
    Witch Sash/Hierarch Belt
    Mahatma/Nashira/Crimson
    Goliard Clogs

Then situationally fill in with specific Dark/Reduction/Tanking/Melee/Obis/Ninja Tools/etc...generally I have to carry at least 2 of these sets just because I can't fit much in my locker/safe anymore(fucking BRD instruments), I think the best I can get down to is 62/70.

But yeah, you have a lot of awesome gear and are maxing your potential...but honestly for practicality's sake you're overdoing it IMO. You already have decent enough gear that you shouldn't feasibly be seeing issues with MP, shaving an extra 2-3 seconds off of Haste recasts doesn't really matter since you have to cycle it anyways and there's always something you can be casting in between Hastes, and when you switch into full-on nuking/MND sets you're probably dumping a lot of max MP anyways, so you could probably ease up there a tad as well.

I try to be as efficient and capable as possible, but when it gets to the point that it takes you 30 minutes to gear RDM because you're stuck deciding what to bring and what to leave, it kind of negates the point. If anything just think of what events you are actually doing soon, and objectively think what you can ditch for that specific event instead of worrying about what you can ditch fulltime.

Edit: One I forgot: fuck carrying Warp Cudgels, it takes 2 minutes to get from Holla to Tav and change subs to Warp, you can almost always get a D2 or a Tele after events, or are reasonably close to a Crag/Maw/OP. Getting around in the game is really easy now compared to before.

Lol, I was gonna comment that Nerull should stop talking about cobra pieces and other Conserve MP stuff before it gave you any ideas and end up with even MORE inventory space problems... but I guess you were already planning on it, so nvm XD

But yea, I gave up on cobra pieces for EXACTLY that reason, I don't want to carry around more stuff. (even though there's little else better for when you're in a meripo)

To put it bluntly, I have way too much rdm gear. Once food, expendable items, and linkpearl and taken into account, I have 65 slots and about 80 pieces of gear. My rdm gear is as follows:

Weapons: 8 HQ staves, fourth mace, mythic wand+1, warp cudgel, joytoy
Subs: magic strap, bugard/raptor strap+1 (would like to get a staff strap if I have space), Genbu's shield, numinous shield +1
    Ranged: phantom tathlum, white tathlum
    head: AF2+1, AF+1, nashira, walhara
neck: morgana's choker, elemental/enfeebling/enhancing/dark torques, ugg pendant, reraise gorget
earrings: loq, magnetic, novio, moldavite, enfeebling, dark (would get a novia if I had space)
body: nashira, morrigan's, goliard, crimson, AF+1 (fucking af2 body is the bane of my existence)
hands: zenith, goliard, shadow, AF2, devotee +1, crimson, dusk
    rings: tamas, serket, omega
back: altruistic, aslan, prism, cheviot (getting a merciful soon)
waist: forest rope, penitent's, AF2, swift belt, ice/thunder/dark obis
pants: nashira, zenith, crimson, goliard, AF2, AF1, mahatma
feet: zenith, goliard, nashira, AF2, dusk

I know dark magic stuff can stay home when im /nin or /whm, but that only causes more problems when I am those subs. Basically everything there gets used frequently, it's just a matter of narrowing it down. A lot of the mp pieces are for convert (1020/1027) and yes i am elf. Where should I cut down ;\

How much do you use Mythic/Fourth Mace? I don't see them being anything better than Staves in any scenario, really. Unless you have a Mistltienn and a Muse Tariqah,it's not worth it. Same with Joytoy.

I never need my warp cudgel on rdm unless I am /nin. Why Magic Strap? That's the MP one, right? Do you really use it much?

White Tahlum, more MP, what for? Same with Walahra. Nothing on that that you can't get from AF1/AF2. Same again goes for Nashira.

Neck pieces are understandable. Earrings, too.

Hands: Unless you are soloing there's no real reason to carry Dusk (like joytoy) and may I ask what you use Shadow for? (Honestly curious)

    Feet Nashira/Dusk, again why.

Why do you people carry 8 staffs? Yes they have their uses but using Vulcans to land burn or HQ Water for poison are really not needed, seriously.

HQ Thunder staff is also a waste imo because the hq ice staff provides 10 skill +5 int and with ice acc merits I think it would out preform thunder spells since its only a slight notch below thunder.

    Just my 2 cents.

if i do that, my inventory space will go from 58/70 to 60ish/70 and i dont like that XD

i do use goliard and magnetic for cure/refresh etc tho

but not to the extend of cobras, too much mog space involve for my jobs!
