And honestly, teleport money on Hades at least can suck majority of the time. I myself rarely pay 2k for one, it's not like the old days where you can make 3k+ per tele almost everytime.

Now Retrace, thats some good money. Lots of people want it, hardly many BLM in WG at a time that wanna do it.

Wait, the BG community is vehemently anti-botting? And here I thought 3/4s of responses to every mention of claimbots here in the past two years were to the tune that everybody bots so stop whining about it.

People still use teleports that much for this to be such a huge concern? Unless I know someone in a city where I am I'd rather coin my way to my home nation and OP (which is usually faster in the end anyway).

I'm lol'ing at the people telling you to STFU they love the bot since it's cheap and easy, it's like the fat outta shape people I always see snailing around at Wal-Mart or McDonalds -- they don't care about the long term ramifications to both themselves and others, all they care about is right now.

That aside, yeah SE dicked over more 'legit' players than RMTs with all these nerf's of NPCable things, so unfortunately more and more people are going to cheat via other means. I've already noticed the huge drop in price of things I farm, due to overcrowding/undercutting -- because that gil source isn't the same anymore and the tightening of wallets.

But seriously though, being a self righteous asshat also gets you nowhere. Now you pissed on them after they pissed on you, and the cycle won't stop. Do you honestly feel better about yourself not raising someone just because they would rather pay less for a quicker teleport? That's also just as big of a dickbag move. Repoirt the bot, and continue on your way. There are plenty of other mind-numbing ways to make decent gil than teleporting.

If I happen to be in WG or Jeuno it's for 5-10 seconds unless gathering for an event -- and if I'm on blm running thru and i see someone shouting for a retrace and offering a reward, I invite them and retrace them for free. Does that make me an asshole for taking business away from someone else?

All that aside -- It's a violation of SE's ToS plain and simple. It's pretty black and white in the end, but sadly most GM's aren't savvy enough of FFXI to even know how basic game mechanics work in most cases, so don't expect this problem to be resolved anytime soon.

We used to have this bot named stias on Alexander, eventually people started shouting "Teleport-whatever" "Can I have it" "/tell" "shouter's name" Thankfully Stias is gone now, and I can Telewhore in peace, relatively. The telebots that are around now are not 24/7

Here is what I would do if I weren't so goddamn lazy:

1. Get a mule account with WHM teleports, give it a memorable name like Lolteleport, put it in WG, run the bot script
2. Do the ports for free, running 24/7
3. Put some random, stackable thing (wooden arrows, eg) in my bazaar for 1k each
4. Have the script include a /p chat line that asks for 'donations' by making purchases from my bazaar, or trade me random crap
5. ???
6. Profit

People would love you, you'd make more money than people telewhoring (cause you're doing it 24/7), and the world is a better place. Everybody wins!

At least until some emo WHM turns you in for botting, gets frustrated because it takes a hundred years to save up for a Noble's giving teleports, gives up, price of ports goes back up to 3k, and the WHM ends up just joining a botting LS and getting a Dalmy.

As far as I remember. 2005 = 300-500 gil.

2006 (I wasn't on during the inflation.) 3k

2007 = 2k~3k

2008 = 1k-2k on average.

And yes, I bought a pair of O. Kotes off people I tele-mea'd.

There was also some buying of discounted items and reselling them on AH for profit.

But mostly teleporting.

You know it really makes me sad that such an obvious way of catching them (having a gm shout "only invite me if you are a bot <teleport xxx> <can i have it>") isnt accessible by gms. Though chances are it would do /pcmd add [gm]whatever which wouldnt work anyway.

Ive always said the easiest way for a gm to catch botters is to pop in DA during one of the windows with the same ID as Niddy, untargetable by normal means, in CFH mode (so more then one person can hit it). And ban anyone on the spot that vokes/casts on him. Im sure they could do it, they just dont.
