How do we know that Alexander doesn't bother with pacts? There is an NPC in Whitegate that says the following:

"Emperor Alzadaal had the power to control an enormous humanoid that he used to conquer the surrounding nations. Utilizing this mysterious power, he built the foundation of an enormous empire."

"controlled" could mean the colossus was powered by Alexander but moved by the Emperor, like firing weapons and such.
in my opiniom, Alexander will never be an avatar because of how it works : you first have to create a vessel worth of the Light Avatar, then he goes and inhabits it. following this logic, a summoner should wander with an automaton and summon Alexander inside it each time. if Alexander coul appear at full power without a vessel, then the whole ToAU plot would be quit pointless.

You already answered it. He chooses the most appropriate vessel to combat Odin. That's his story, he makes no pacts that are known, his purpose is to appear around the Age of Judgment, which if anything like FFIX, which it is..he has one purpose and one purpose alone..and when that purpose is fulfilled, chances are, he goes away until the next Age of Judgment.

So once again, Odin and Alexander make a lot more sense as staying as story based Avatars..because they don't make pacts like the rest of them..we don't know if Alexander even makes pacts, as his spirit inhabits worthy automatia(?)..so how do you make a pact with something that only serves one purpose? SE will have severe story contradictions to allow him summonable.

So in order to make Alexander an avatar you have to:

• Completely forget Alexander's purpose is to fight Odin
• Give Summoner's an item to have Alexander inhabit
• Completely piss on PUPs
• Explain why Odin isn't constantly trying to destroy the summoner

Well we wont know what the new avatars are till SE adds them. Be it Odin, Alexander, Cait Sith, Amotos, Ixion (lol no pony just adding to the list), Phoenix, or the Magus Sisters (doubt it) or something out of left field like Siren or Bismark we wont now till we read the update info that says... New avatars cometh.
If that doesn't make Smns happy give it like.....few months and you'll be hearing we want more avatars. And talking about the "gotta catch them all" Smns....you know who you are.

Last I checked, the avatars you summon are not at "full power," just a fragment of their power.

1st you must have enough tonberry hate so that you get grudged for at least 50k. talk to the Tonberry Priest npc in the Temple to get the tuning fork to fight Tonberry Spirit Prime. If you beat it, you can get Tonberry Spirit for summoners, 20k gil, some crappy weapon/ring or the ra/ex item "sac of super smelly fish".
next go to Mount Zaylom. trade the sac of super smelly fish to each of the apkulla npcs in the zone and they will follow you. now die to a Wamoura. the apkulla npc will circle around you and the goddess Uggalipeh will appear "hark they thee be!" she shall say "I was indeed turned into an ugly small green creature but it was apkulla not tonberry!" she will then raise you and give you the key item "Apkulla Blow up doll" "Take thee thine this doll and hither go forth to thy magical wood structure that canst float above thy waters"
Go to Silver Sea route to Al Zahbi and Bismark will come out of the ocean with Almighty Apkulla riding on his back. deafeat them both and you will get your choice of being able to summon Bismark, 10k gil, a crappy weapon/ring, or the ra/ex item "Ebon Key"
Next go to Ruhmet. you will need a taru,galka,hume,elv, and mithra summoner with the Ebon Key. go up to their races tower and at the same time trade the "Ebon Key" to the "Ebon Panel" and you will recieve the Key Item "Absolute Virtue's secret".
for every person who has the key item "Absolute Virtue's secret" Absolute Virtue will be weakened more.
next you will have had to have completed all ZM and TAU missions, and Apocalypse Nigh, and have all Assaults completed and be caught up on all of the Wings of the Goddes missions/medals, and have a "Pandemonium Key"
If you have all those done, and finished the above fights, talk to Sanraku.
he will say "Oh! one more thing! dont try and use that key just yet. you'll just be wasting your time. give me 300 imperial gold coins and I can help you out though."
give him 300coins and he'll give you the key item "Pandemonium's weakness".
Pandemonium's Weakness description says "when the time comes, say Nedraw Muinomednap"
When you pop Pandemonium Warden, if you have the key item, Type "Nedraw Muinomednap" and he will get weaker.


and that is how SE will give us 2 new avatars and tell us how to beat AV and PW.

• That's their desire, not their purpose. Summoned Avatars tend to exercise no will of their own, since you only draw a small fraction of their power
• The other avatars don't require any medium other than the source they are drawn from.

To all the people who say it cant be Alex or Odin cause of story. Here is one way you can have Alex + Odin AND skirt around all plot holes (well i think most and every major one). i will spoiler them both to skip if you don't care. For each add SE's touch to dialog in game and change the inconsistencies i made by mistake. (the puppets or using a wrong name but it still happened to some one else. i make those mistakes.)

Obtaining the BC: Fight a gear + chariot combo. Gear will act like normal gear; Chariot will act like normal chariot. If chariot is killed first gear will turn into a triple gear. If gear is killed first chariot will turn into a salvage boss chariot {random}.

Ovjang: finally the items to repair me. I keep seizing up inside randomly and it is quite getting on my nerves. Alexander has not made any pacts of which we know. Odin has made two pacts of which we know- one with Raogrimm and the other with Luzaf. Both of those had two very different conditions- Luzaf was returned to life and got power with the condition that he would become the Dark Rider, Raogrimm got an army of demons and was transformed on the condition that he free Odin from the Dark Protocrystal. We can hardly conclude anything from this. Apart from Odin's and Alexander's perpetual fued, they don't really seem any more stubborn or willfill than the other 6 Celestial Avatars. (Seriously, they were total pricks during the Waking the Beast quest.)

Summoning is just calling upon a reflection of the true avatar's power, this could easily be written in that although they are not fond of people, that either Odin or Alexander are so impressed with your strength in battle that they are willing to aid you since it doesn't really take much of anything away from them. This wouldn't even require retconing, just fleshing out parts of the story about which we know little to nothing.
